I just got a new puppy. He is a cute little shi suz and it was his first haircut. He is very jumpy at home and I'm sure that he would be like that on the grooming table. For anyone who's ever had a puppy they know that they are scared of unfamiliar things and sounds. So he came to metropawlitan grooming for his very first haircut. I was told that he was jumpy and cried alot but overall he did good for the grooming.. I'm super happy with this place and the honesty from the groomer because I saw it for myself on how he was jumping and moving alot and crying like they were hurting him but after a little bit he chilled out and give the groomer kisses. i highly recommend this place to everyone. thank you metropawliton for taking good care of my fur babies. read more

Ok, I was excited about this place because it was so close to my house. And I know my dog can be a bit nervous and wiggly, but I picked him up and he had razor lines in his fur, had bumps shaved into his eyebrows and his "beard" hair was VERY crooked. Not to mention, staff was very rude at pick up and barley said a word, just commented on how "difficult" my dog was. My dog hasn't had issues anywhere else but he's "difficult" here so that's also interesting. Won't be recommending to anyone or going back. read more

Customer service was lacking the most there was no one working the front desk when I took my pet in. When someone did help us it was brief. But we wanted to try out a new groomer besides pet co. The hair cut was good but we were quoted between 40-45 and out the door ended up paying 73. Keep in mind we have a small 7 lb dog. It was supposed to take 1-2 hour but ended up being 6. I would not recommend this place or ever take my pet there again. read more

This will be an interesting review - because it's not a review. It's a comment. I just got a call from Metropawlitan Grooming telling me my dog "Insert name" was ready. I informed them I didn't have a dog, and certainly didn't have a dog by that name, so I asked what number they were trying to dial. They read back my number, to which I informed them that was indeed my number, but I had gotten it in 2011, and was sure they just had the wrong number somehow. I though I was nice in trying to help them figure out where the error might be. As they were hanging up, I could hear the woman/female just proclaim "Asshole" before the line died. So maybe these other reviews that mention rudeness are spot on? Seems to be some proof here from a disinterested party. read more

I have been using this groomer for several years. I have never been disappointed. They are very busy and if you don't have an appointment, be prepared to wait a few hours. However they are awesome with my baby and she always comes out clean, nails clipped and smelling so good. The people are great, friendly, and their prices are affordable. My Daughter Lovey is a terrible brat Yorkie. I love her so much! What I love most is how darlene was able to calm my dog down. Darlene as well as her staff were extremely caring to my dog lovey. The day before even The Vet couldn't handle lovey. The vet did not have patience and she automatically wanted lovey to take some medication for her to be sleepy just to be seen. I also took Lovey to a different groomer by accident. They couldn't even groom her and they muzzled her. My dog was completely terrified. Darlene talked me into coming in the same day to try to see if she was as bad as I described based on my experience with the vet and the other groomers that I went to by accident. I am so happy I found Darlene. She is the best groomer ever. Lovey is a difficult dog I have to admit, but that does not keep Darlene from expressing caring love to my baby. So previously I loved this place. The last two times have been different. Last time my dogs cut was perfect so I brushed it off because I thought it was a weird coincidence. This time I went back and my dogs neck was matted unfortunately due to being in and out of the hospital with my son. Needless to say he needed the grooming. The hair cut is beyond terrible but I'll take the blame on that due to them having to cut the matting. Even though when I first got him I dematted him myself under worse conditions. That's neither here nor there. The issues are bigger than that. My dog has numerous cuts on him to the point he had to go to the vet today and get medicine for his eyes and chest. On top of that when I picked him up they said he had fleas when he is on flea medicine (bravecto) and he nor my other two dogs had fleas. I brought this up with vet immediately and she looked him over and there is no eggs or poop meaning they haven't had time to breed and the fleas medicine he is on wouldn't allow them too. So it's highly unlikely he had them before coming in. Another issue is I paid to get him a bath and ended giving him a bath when I got home with flea bath as a precaution and the water was filthy as if he never even got a bath. A sad turn for the worse and a visit to the groomer ended up costing me 400$ more. read more

My dog has been going here for 2 years and never really had any problems. However, today upon arrival I asked for a short trim and a nail trim. I had dropped off my dog a little before 11 am. Normally it would take around 3 hours, this time it took 6 hours. It wasn't until I had got home that I noticed his nails, they look to be filed a bit but still very long. He is known to get nervous but this has never been a problem, today he came home smelling like pee and had some on his tail. I'm very sad about my experience today. read more

Was worried due to the horrible reviews. Dropped off my Pomeranian mix today. They accepted me as a walk-in without any issues at all. He weighs around 12 lbs. Got him a shave as well as a bath and it came out to $55 plus a $5 tip I gave. Took only about 2 hrs which was great! No extra charge when I came to pick him up. I was visiting relatives in San Antonio for a month and decided to take my poodle with me. I figured he'd like a break from New York. While we were there, I noticed he needed a grooming. I tried Metropawlitan and am glad I did. The service was courteous, the prices fair and the work that was done was on par with what I usually get. My dog is a bit fidgety when being groomed but if you talk nice to him, he seems to calm down. Well, the groomers knew what to do---they said he was no problem. If i could give 1/2 I would. Our dogs came out with that tulle scratchy stuff just tied around their neck versus a traditional handkerchief. One of them had it tied in a knot not even a bow! Last time over 6 weeks ago they told me they had just run out. This time the excuse was they were unpacking and couldnt find them. They moved into a new space but the service has gotten worse and worse. Loose fur all over and nails still longer than usual. As soon as we got home one of my fur babies scooted on his bottom- so even tho we paid for anal gland express it obviously was not done. We tipped before we saw the job that was done but we will not be returning nor recommending them to anyone. Other places can do a much better job for less money! read more

I took our little doxie there today for the first time. He has long hair except he's been abused and his hair doesn't grow right. Some places not at all. They did a fantastic job trimming it up. My fur baby is not aggressive and has been groomed many times without any issues ....but yet the manager blamed the unfinished services due to him biting her. I feel they were mishandling my fur baby. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone!!! This place has really gone down hill since it's under new management. I took my dog in for a simple grooming and these people trimmed his private areas way too short .I had to go to pet co and purchase some aloe Vera spray for the irritation.The injuries are so bad it almost looks like he's bleeding.They never even admitted to me their mistake.Needless to say none of my pets will ever be going there again !! read more

We used to take our miniature poodle here and our yorkie, the price was okay but they never did was we asked for. The staff was friendly, but the reason i am giving 1 star is because i was there to pick up my dog one day and there's this window that lets you see to the back area where they're grooming the animals. I was waiting to pay and i was looking back there and one of the groomers had a dog who was squirming and trying to get away from her. Instead of calming the animal she proceeded to yell at the dog and then throw all her grooming supplies across the room. She then saw me watching and slammed the window shut. Took my labradoodle there and was told the price would be between $80-$120 and that the $120 would be the MAX. The price ended up being $140. Their credit card machine was not working so I had to find and ATM and when I paid-- no change was given. My dog's hair is short like I asked but they failed to clip his nails as they stated they would and he has several razor burns on his body (nose, legs, testicles and stomach). I do not doubt this place does great work but my experience will have me go elsewhere. I typically go to Petco and their price is over half of theirs and they do a much better job, including a hands-on consultation with your dog. read more

If I cld give no stars I would. I scheduled an appointment for 12 today, received a call at 430 informing me of some matting on my mini Goldendoodle and asking how to proceed. Well I called at about 545 asking how much longer til my dogs were ready since I had a birthday dinner at 7. The girl told me they wld be ready at 7. I figured that was doable since I don't live far and the restaurant was near by. I called at 7 and Daniel answered the phone saying 30 more minutes. At this point I'm annoyed. Why make an appointment if you can't have them ready after 7 hours? I left immediately to go get them and addressed my concern only for DANIEL to meet me with rudeness and saying they aren't "mind readers" and that they had 10 dogs before mine when I dropped them off. He continued to argue with me and was unprofessional and states he's the owner when I asked for her. The other young lady who was charging me had to tell him to stop arguing with me because he wouldn't shut up. He proceeded to tell me how they doubled their profits now that they're the new owners. They go to the back and he's saying "we don't need her business" so I asked for my money back since they don't need it. The real owner then comes to me and apologized saying it's her first business and she's trying. Daniel is not only her manager but her boyfriend or husband as well. I told her he wld be the demise of her business. Daniel is horrible and has no customer service skills and shouldn't deal with clients. They should chain him up to the back and keep him there or better yet not allow him near this place. BEWARE IF YOU BRING YOUR PETS HERE. They overbook and don't set expectations. I will never go back. My business now goes to Galactic Grooms on S. Presa. read more

Took my retired military working dog here to pamper him up a bit since he never has been and deserves it. Everyone was very nice and welcoming which is awesome. He got a regular bath along with a deshedding treatment and nail filing. My dog came back smelling nice and clean and they brushed him out pretty good. The one part I was disappointed with was the nail filing since he needed it. They definitely were not filed just clipped and multiple nails were missed. For the price you pay which is reasonable you expect everything to get done properly. Not sure if I would recommend off this first experience or go back for a second try. read more

I recently took my dogs to get groomed at Metropawlitan Grooming and was quite disappointed with the outcome. I was way overcharged for the services rendered. My 3 dogs ended up completely bald...no style to their face, no hair left on their bodies and my total was $280. + tax for a total of $303.. They have a sign on their counter stating their card machine is down, so when they text me about my dogs being ready they text that cash is preferred. I was taken aback and text her that I was not anticipating the total to be so much that I have never been charged that much before and therefore would need to pay with credit and all she said was ok....No explanation, no details of charges. I was there roughly a year ago and paid about $100 less for the same services and my dogs at least had some style to their faces. I guess I am at fault for not being more vocal at the time, but I had my daughters with me and did not want to make a scene. The reason I would drive all the way there is because they were so fair with their prices...that is not the case anymore. Last time I will be going there. Hopefully this does not happen to anyone else! read more
