With a store name that translates to "delicious fruits", i would agree. This is one of the few stores that I know of that stock south eastern fruits. They have jackfruit, rambutan, lychee, dragonfruit, lychee, soursop, cherimoya, persimmons, etc. with fruit stores, remember that fruits are seasonal, and this one is no different. Most fruits seem to be flown in from Asia, so expect some bruised and not as fresh fruit. But if you're craving some cherimoya, something is better than nothing, right? With that said, I would agree with other reviewers that you should be vigilant and careful while purchasing your fruit. Do your research, and trust your instincts. All business dealing with perishables are the same - they want to get rid of old stock to make room for the new. Research the fruit, and apply those tips to selecting good quality ones at the store. Yes the ladies speak mostly vietnamese, but in my experience they aren't badmouthing the customer, they just talk to each other and make random comments lol. Yes the fruit is expensive, but it's kinda expected with the price of importing exotic fruits across the pacific ocean. I think it's worth it. read more

I never wrote Yelp review but unfortunately I have to do it today. I'd give a 0 star if it were an option. My fiance bought me a whole "fresh" durian a couple days ago for a little over $70. It was hard and not even eatable... I'm a biggest fan of durian and I've tried many versions of it (even the prepacked frozen ones in the supermarket)... This.was.the.worst!!! If you want the not so typical apples and oranges, this is the place to get them. You can get fresh passion fruit, rumbutan, dragon fruit, durian, etc. So why the three stars? For some, they can be tricky with their scales and if you try to disagree with them, they get a little cranky. I came here specifically to buy longan and was delighted to find two- and four-pound bags for sale ($8.50 a pound). I also bought two dragonfruit that the lady was kind enough to choose for me. We were kind of in a hurry and I didn't know what a lot of the other fruits were, so I can't wait to go back and choose some other fruits after I've done some research. It is a cool little shop filled with unusual and interesting fruits (as well as apples and pineapple--stuff you'll recognize right away). The people were super nice and helpful even when I got confused over the cost of the longan. It's a bit disconcerting when told your bag of fruit costs thirty-four dollars! (Longan is worth it, however. SO good.) Oh, the longan is terrific and the dragon fruit is the best I've had. Honestly, I don't know this place you can bargain or not, there fruit selection is good but is very unreasonable price. Chinese apple in Houston only $1.99 per lb if they on sale, and if not on sale is $2.99. At this shop they sale $6.50 per lbs, depending which kind of Chinese apple you pick. They have diversity of Chinese apple selection. Each content different farmer with different price. Thai green mango sale $6 per lb. there fruit is very good just like they said, but they too expensive that I couldn't buy for everyone back in my home town. I just buy enough for me.. They have mangoes, dragon fruit (pitaya), rambutan, mangosteen, durian, passion fruit, cherimoyas, some cross between a cherimoya and a soursop, chicos, and even flowers. As for bargaining, its tough. The woman manning the cash register seems like she really hates when people ask for a bargain. I heard her yelling (raising her voice) at a customer saying, "Always bargain! Do you bargain at Stater brothers?". I think in this business you need to definitely be lenient, especially if you want returning customers. Besides, what are you going to do with the rotting fruit? The reason I say I will not come here without my mom is because the women working here are VERY, I mean, VERY, pushy. During the warmer seasons, you will see some of the most exotic Asian fruits on display. Ones that I am particularly interested in are MANGOSTEENs! These palm size suckers are pricey! I buy them for its rarity and its high antioxidant nutritional properties. They have a hard shell with an exterior color of brownish-purple. Once you pierce through the shell, you get a small amount of fruit inside that is sweet with hints of banana and apple flavors! Trust me they are delicious. At first it might be kind of slimey but you get used to it. There's a new "form factor" coconut that has popped into the fruit scene. I guess they call them sweet baby coconut but the concept of it is you simply cut a small slit at the very tip to create an opening big enough to put a straw into. I recommend chilling these and drinking it cold on a hot summer day!. As you can see, I'm into rare fruits! The fact that they are rare is a big appeal to me. The ladies that work here are friendly and are fluent in English. They take cash only. Its located in a Viet inhabited shopping plaza so you will be surrounded by a variety of eateries, bakeries, and grocery. Get ready for a parking war. :P read more

After a year of coming here, they've started to recognize me, and for some reason - I'm not sure if it's related to the recognition or not - the prices have slowly crept up. There have been other issues too. Rambutan used to be in the neighborhood of $3... now it's $4.50+ even though the season's come around again. Plus, the last box they sold me - $25 for 5lbs - looked all fresh and red and delicious on the top layer, but when I got it home, the bottom layer of fruits were all brown and rotten! Uncool! Yesterday I went in and was going to buy some dragonfruit, but they tried to charge me $7 for ONE FRUIT, which is totally ridiculous. The cherimoya and wax jambu I get from there is hit or miss, but a miss is a lot more painful when one cherimoya or a small box of wax jambu is upwards of $3 of $4. Look, I don't expect rare tropical fruit to be cheap at all, but I also don't expect it to sometimes be moldy or to keep steadily rising in price. Yeah, I hit my tall head on their low-hanging ceiling bananas every time I walk in there... but I pick them up if they fall down! Am I insulting you somehow, Trai Cay Ngon? Am I supposed to be bargaining? The lady who helps me speaks English but does not respond to my attempts to haggle. She just stands there and tells me all the fruit is sweet... and that the skin on this and that fruit is edible (it wasn't)... and she's putting it all in the bag before I even tell her whether or not I want to buy it. I miss old times, where the old non-English speaking lady and I would communicate by holding up a certain number of fingers and I didn't feel pressured. After my last visit, during which I just bought a small box of baby mangoes for $5 - expensive but within the realm of reasonability - I happened to see that Thai Son next door had rambutan. I asked how much a bag was - it was $6 for 2 pounds. $1.50 per pound less than Trai Cay Ngon. I will happily transfer my loyalties if this keeps up. One star for their unethical practice of screwing non-Vietnamese customers on prices. Most of their fruits do not have prices clearly marked. The three of us were quoted different prices. My White friend got the highest quote vs. my Viet friend with the lowest. If you want to buy stuff here, send a Viet in to do the buying for you. Otherwise, prepare to be SCREWED! BTW, don't bother calling them if you are looking for something in particular. I asked the ladies there if they had any soft and light green soursop when I was there but they rudely insisted I get the green hard ones because those are "good." I trusted them in the end since I thought they would know better. 2 weeks later, the skin of the soursop turned black and it's still hard as a rock. A 5 pound box of Rambutans for $18. This place is rocks every planet in the universe. I got two boxes. The ladies who work in the store are like vultures waiting for a bit of prey. I am chum in a shark tank for these ladies. They just circle me holding up there boxes of rambutan, baskets of dragon fruit and other tropical delights to lure me into their jaws of death. I don't regret swimming with the sharks this time. I parted with my money but left with a lot of really great fruit. Ok here we go. I discovered this place earlier this year and have been a frequent customer. They have an awesome selection packed into a tiny store front. I'm here all the time! I have read some of the poor reviews from others and can see where they are coming from. Though I have yet to have a negative experience. I think the way we are conditioned to business in America gives us an uncomfortable or even swindled feeling when confronted with bargaining. I can be rather specific and I know what I want. You should be too. The younger lady behind the counter speaks the best English and if you ask, she will usually let you sample certain things before you buy them. I completely agree with the posts below! For years, we've been coming to this place for all our fruit craving needs! Now, every week or so, you'll find my face here. My Mom is obsessed with exotic fruits, and even though this place is a bit pricier than let's say a supermarket - but it is SO worth the price! Most of these fruits come from everywhere around the world, so you can see why it's expensive but you can't beat the quality here. The fruits are always more plump and when it's in season-ohhhh boy, you can smell the fresh fruit scent! It's fantastic. If you're looking for some flowers, they also have them in the front of the store too! My tip is to always check back, because they always have something new. Here are some of the popular items-but also keep in mind it goes by season, so some fruits may not be available all year long: -Mangosteen (Abt $14-$15 per bag) TIP: Try squeezing it to make sure it's soft. If it's hard, it might not last too much longer. -Longon -Rambutan (I prefer the bright red ones, but they do have a darker colored one that still tastes pretty good.) -Lychees -Guava (Best place to buy it! Believe me, I shop everywhere in Westminster, they usually have better selections here.) -Jackfruit (They have 2 kinds: Yellow & a golden colored one. They're both sweet but sometimes the yellow ones tend to have a "firmer" texture) -Mangoes -Hawaiian papaya -Waterapple (Man) -Corosolier (Mang Cau) -Persimons -Dragon fruit (White & Red flesh kinds) -Durian (It's a hit & miss! Problem is you have to buy it before they open it, so it's a gamble whether you end up with a sweet creamy one or not. Last time, it cost me $50 and sadly it was disappointing.) TIP: I usually go for the frozen ones they have at Tuan Phat Supermarket! Pick the super golden ones and you're sure to always end up with a sweet and creamy one! When eaten frozen, it's like icecream. If you let it sit a bit, it's almost like eating a fresh one, so in the end you're not missing out on much. Plus it's suuuppper cheaper. $6 bucks maybe per container? -Side note, bring cash. I don't think they accept cards. Most of these fruits have the highest content of antioxidants than any other fruit on the market! Prior to my arrival, I was super ecstatic to come here. TBH it feels like a mini Vietnam. The woman will push you into buying things & expects you to buy them. Their Soursop was super expensive at $7/lb. I was hoping it was cheaper & envisioned myself to bring a gazillion of fruits home to my family, but the super expensive prices & the absences of many of the fruits I was looking for (ie, Rumbatan). If you want pricing on something you have to have it weight by one of the staff -I found a couple of rotted Mangosteens in my bag and a few ants. -I got a real bad stomach ache after eating the Jackfruit. I came here thinking of getting me some jackfruit. I love jackfruit. But I saw the rambutans and I ended up getting those instead. They were sweet and the were of good quality. If it's a good quality rambutan, when you bite into the sweet fruit, it will easily peel away from the seed. If it's not, it's going to be mushy and it will be hard to get it off of the seed. The rambutans here are good. They are expensive since it's an exotic fruit but I was expecting to pay more. For $2.50 a pound, I think it's pretty good. They do accept credit cards and I think you can haggle the price or something like that but I'm not good at haggling so $2.50 a pound it is for me. You can sample the fruits before you buy so don't be afraid to ask. I have turned so many people to the delicate sweet flavor of the rambutan that they have asked me to get more if I'm around the area. read more

Came here twice in the last 2 weeks to get my Cherimoya, Mangosteen and Jackfruit fix. The Jackfruit is really good and sweet. It's a bit pricey though. $5 for a small pack and $8 for a large. The first time I went I was so excited to find Cherimoyas. I bought 4 for $12. It's pricey but cheaper than markets. But when I got home, 2 of them were so unedible. It was extremely moldy inside and of a different consistency. I had to toss my $8 worth. Very disappointed since the lady who works there helped me pick out the fruits. The fruit by no means compares to the fresh fruit you could get directly in Asia (ie Thailand, Vietnam, and Cambodia) but in a pinch the price is worth being able to reminisce about the found memories i had in Vietnam and Cambodia. This store is amazing! I went here with my family and the service here is very polite and takes in the best interest for you! Their fruits are fresh and taste great! My favorite is the pickled mango, with salt and chili. Their store doesn't only have fruits but it has nice and beautiful bouquets of flowers that look and smell fabulously. I only buy fruits here! Especially the ones that are hard to come by like fresh mangosteen! Depending on the harvest, one pound is between 6.5 to 7.5 a lb. For two pounds, you get around 10 mangosteens which isn't a lot but definitely satisfying. read more
