After they install a product on your vehicle they always have a staff member conduct a tutorial of your product so their are no surprises in the operation of what you purchased. I was very satisfied when I bought my trailer from Trailer King in 2015 but I soon found out that once I paid and drove away, they couldn't care less about the trailer they sold. I called up twice with questions and received a "I couldn't care less" attitude. The send me emails but when I send them a question I never get a return response. Four years and the framing that extends to connect the trailer to my truck is all rusty. Cheap coating of black paint was used which was completely useless on an outdoor product. The very least that should have been used was water resistant paint. Thank god I stored it in my garage when I lived in Florida. Typical business that only cares about a sale. read more

This company is less than honest. They listed a motorcycle for sale on eBay, and I tried to buy it. We negotiated the price and I agreed to their demand for a cashier's check for payment. Having agreed on everything, I arranged to travel over 800 miles to close the deal. Even though they had agreed to sell me the bike, they continued to advertise the bike for sale. The day before I left they emailed me, changing the terms of the sale. They were now demanding I wire transfer the money before I left. I would've been Ok with a wire transfer, but they either don't know how wire transfers work, or they lied, trying to tell me it would take a day for the transfer to show up. Fact is, wire transfers are almost instantaneous. As it turned out, they didn't have clear title as they promised. My guess is, they needed the money to pay off a loan. When I actually saw the bike I found out they misrepresented the mileage too - by a lot! Needless to say, I walked away, not knowing what else had been misrepresented. To be honest, it was more than the mileage. It was the whole experience that reeked of dishonesty. Thankfully, I know how wire transfers work and did not send them the money before seeing the bike. They've updated the eBay listing with a lower price, but they still haven't listed the mileage correctly. This is not a simple oversight. They've changed the listing, relisted it, and still haven't told the truth. Maybe that's why they sell trailers - no odometer! Any business can get friends to post positive reviews. Read the real reviews, and the snarky responses. Nowhere will you read an apology. Honest businesses make mistakes and apologize. Dishonest businesses make excuses. I would not trust this company. read more

On June 1, 2020 after reading reviews and speaking with Rick, my wife and I made the 2 hour trip one way to Trailer King in Poughkeepsie NY. We were interested in a 6 X 12 single axle trailer with brakes (since brakes are required on trailers over 1k lbs. in NYS). We met with Rick and decided to buy a 2020 Wells Cargo Road Force. We left a deposit and requested e-track to be installed and agreed to pick up the trailer later that week. On Saturday June 6, 2020 my wife and I again made that 2 hour trip with cashier's check in hand to pick up our new trailer. Unfortunately that's where everything seemed to go down hill. When we got there we met with Steve who hooked up our trailer but unfortunately after trying everything he could for over 2 hours, he could not get the brakes to work properly. We were told by Steve that he would have his mechanics look at it on Monday and give us a call, all while apologizing and saying he would make it right. After not getting a call Monday or Tuesday, I called Trailer King on Wednesday to inquire what the status was. I was told by Rick that they had replaced the brakes on my trailer but still could not get the brakes to lock up or work correctly. Rick further stated they would have to chase the ground for the brakes and possibly run a new wire and he would call me back tomorrow. When I inquired if the warranty would still be intact since they replaced the brakes on a new trailer, I was then informed by Rick that 95% of the single axle trailers they get in do not have brakes. They install the brakes themselves and this in fact was the case with my trailer, which was not disclosed upfront! I reluctantly agreed to let them try to fix it as I needed the trailer. On Friday June 11, 2020 I called Trailer King as again I didn't receive a phone call as promised on Thursday. I then got a call back from Rick who said " Sorry but I was overrode by the owner who mailed back your deposit yesterday because we don't have time to work on the trailer and have no idea when and if we will get the chance, so your free to look elsewhere". So much for we will make it right! On Saturday, June 27, 2020 after still not receiving our deposit in the mail which they said was mailed out on June 10th, my wife called and spoke to Steve who told her he would have the accounting department call back on Monday. Received a call on Monday from accounting who stated they did not know why we were told the refund was already mailed out as they had no record of it. The person from accounting stated the check would be put in the mail and we finally received our deposit back on July 1st. In a nutshell, we were set back 2 weeks, we wasted 8 hours of driving plus gas and tolls, not to mention the time we spent there. Communication was horrible! Brakes on trailer were not Factory installed, which was not originally disclosed (a little shady). Then they basically dismissed us as it was not worth it to them to tie up one of their mechanics to fix this trailer. And after all that, they were less than truthful about mailing our deposit back the first time and the only reason we got it back when we did is because we called them AGAIN! Maybe if you live close to them the experience would be better but I would think twice before you make a trip to purchase from them. Don't make the same mistake I did!!! read more

I arrive on schedule Friday and no one knew anything about it. My name and car were in their system, but no one had bothered to order the part. I brought my new truck here to have a plow frame and wire harness installed. Dropped it on a Monday night. Tj the sales manager text me Wednesday morning, said they started the truck Tuesday and it would be done today (Wednesday). I didn't hear anything all day so I text him back to see how the we're making out, no response. I get a call around 4 from the owner Steve. He tells me that he was backing the truck out of the shop and hit something. Only a small scratch. He brought my brand new truck to a body shop to have it buffed out without telling me. I asked why didn't you call me right after it happen? I called the body shop, turns out it wasn't just a scratch. There was a dent and several scratches. The body shop had already started working on the truck without tell me on Tuesday. Said they were just waiting on paint. Seems to me the owner of trailer king was trying to cover it up and they couldn't get it done fast enough so he had to tell me what happen. He promised me the truck would be perfect and not to worry about it. So I get the truck back on Saturday. It's not even close to perfect. Before I went to Trailer King I checked out numerous reviews and even Dutchess County Records online. Nothing out of the ordinary and they've been around a while so I brought them my brand new pickup for a Leer cap, trailer hitch and drop in bed liner. Too many details to go in to without foaming at the mouth but I was surprised and deeply disappointed by Trailer King's performance and have been dealing with the fallout for over a month. To be fair Trailer King did attempt to make good on the installation but I lost confidence in them and brought the truck back to the dealership I bought it from. They were very helpful - and to Trailer King's credit I did not pay for that. But, they can only do so much and this situation eventually required a nearly 500 mile round trip to the Leer Factory Outlet in Pennsylvania for warranty service. They reset the cap on the vehicle and replaced the wiring done by Trailer King. They didn't rush anything and paid attention to detail. Rob and Mark are nice folks and do quality work. In the future I'll just go directly to the LFO for caps, etc. In my newfound opinion, I'll go to the dealership for accessories like bed liners and hitches and go to a cap specialist for the topper. I really wish I had. Really. This was a $41K investment for me and I didn't need the aggravation. I had intended to talk to Trailer King about a small motorcycle trailer but all I can say now is that I sincerely regret having anything to do with them and will never set foot in their store again.
