Service is mostly quick and the vibe is calming and laid back. It is a little more upscale for the neighborhood but so welcoming. They have a great beer selection if you like to enjoy a cold one after a big day of riding or hiking! It's usually a must stop for a meal when we are in town. If I could give this place 10 stars I would. It is definitely a hidden gem. Sweet Potato Fries: 9/10 Milo's Mac-n-cheese: 100/10: what an amazing concoction. This is by a light year the best mac n cheese I've had from a restaurant. You have to try it. Absolutely delicious. Shrimp Tempura: 7/10 Garlic Parmesan wings: 10/10 Tuna Poke Nachos: 10/10: it was a blast to eat this dish. It is definitely a dinner size portion and it is flavorful from top to bottom. We've been her several times over the years and have enjoyed the food and service. And while today was not the best visit...I would come back again. It has a beautiful outside seating area, a bar and plenty of tables. Today, the service was slow...there were two people working the floor/bar, and they were hustling. Typically after your food is delivered, they come around to make sure everything is okay and if you need anything else. That didn't happen and we had to flag someone down for more coffee. The food is always stellar, but you can tell it sat in the kitchen much longer than it should and my eggs were cold. I had the avocado toast, which again incredibly flavorful but much better hot. I've tried coming here 3 times during the stated opening hours and have never been able to eat. The first time was fall 2024 and the door opened but no one was inside. The second time I came at 11:20 for breakfast on Sunday (Google Maps said it was open until 12pm) and the door was locked but there were people inside eating. The third time came at 7:30pm on Sunday (This time looking at the posted hours outside it said they close at 8:30pm) and was greeted by a man who said they were no longer serving dinner, only drinks. read more

What we got: Huevos rancheros - 3.5* for me, 5* for my partner. It had great flavor, I just am not a big fan of the dish in general. My partner, on the other hand, loved it and thought the salsa was amazing. Pancakes - 4* fluffy and fantastic taste. The syrup was also a higher quality store bought kind, not the syrupy sweet cheap kind. John's Hangover Sandwich (on an English muffin) - 3.5* if I wasn't getting the side of biscuits and gravy I would've gotten this on a biscuit. The English muffin was good, but the biscuit would've been even better! The sandwich is basically the bread, an omelet (with a cheesy center), and a breakfast sausage. Good, hearty, but nothing amazing. Side of biscuits and sausage gravy - 4* the biscuits are fantastic and the gravy has a wonderful flavor. I like how they offer it as a side as well as I didn't want it to be my full meal. That said, I probably would've been just fine with this dish being my full meal, it was pretty large! Loved this breakfast spot! Cozy space, friendly attentive and laidback service, and great food. I'd definitely come back. We tried the huevos rancheros and the baked oatmeal and both were hits. The huevos come out with two perfectly fried, still runny eggs topped with a medium spicy red salsa, and crispy, stacked tortillas with black beans. I loved these and found them quite satisfying. The baked oatmeal was great. I read that they can be a tad sweet so although some maple syrup is already mixed in we asked for any syrup that would have been on top on the side, and the Greek yoghurt comes on the side anyway. My boyfriend and I stopped here on our travels and it was just as the stars say - ok. We had a young server that encouraged us to indulge in their mimosas, and we did *pictured*. And honestly, it was probably the best part of the dining experience. For the crowd amount that they seem to get, this location seems slightly small. Cramped almost. I was actually surprised that we did not have to wait when we first arrived, but honestly - I'm not sure if the food was worth waiting for anyway. Maybe I ordered the wrong thing? I see lots of comments raving about their pancakes. I think I would return if I was back in the Davis area, and more than likely I'd try something else - with the mimosas and gravy. read more

Not our first time at Milo's... It was good. The ambiance and atmosphere are quaint. They have done a major facelift to the bar area. I think instead of sitting in the dining room area I would request to be seated at the bar. Very welcoming! The food... 1. Chocolate chip pancake - FANTASTIC. We ordered one for the table of four and it was huge! Good amount of chocolate chips and the pancake was over an inch thick and really fluffy! Highly recommend. 3. Biscuits and Gravy - I didn't try, but two people said they were good. It's not the typically light colored gravy, but nonetheless they said it was good. 4. Breakfast specials (includes eggs, potatoes, a meat, and bread) - eggs were cooked perfect to order. The potatoes were OUT OF SIGHT - so much flavor. My one complaint - the breakfast sausage does not seem to be house-made. It looks just like a McDonalds sausage patty... and doesn't have a ton of flavor. I was bummed. read more

Maybe the best huevos rancheros I've ever eaten. Sooo good, I 100% recommend it. My spouse enjoyed his skillet too, but this huevos rancheros is the star of the breakfast table! The ladies that were working were very sweet and friendly. We had breakfast included in our room rate, and we were very happy with the accommodations at Bright Morning Inn and especially the food at Milo's. Oh! There was also live music on Thursday night. Milo's was great! We had breakfast here two days in a row because there weren't too many other options but we're glad we did. We managed to walk in both days in a row and get seated, although the first day was at the bar. I had the huevos rancheros one day and the apple baked oatmeal the next, and also sampled my partner's biscuits and gravy. The huevos rancheros were decent for small town WV. The potatoes were well seasoned and it was the perfect size for breakfast. The apple baked oatmeal was also fantastic - I liked that it was only a touch sweet and served with yogurt. My friends and I visited Milo's on a Sunday morning a little after 10am and managed to be seated before the brunch crowd rush. It's situated across from the Blackwater River and offers a scenic dining experience. We ordered the SEC sandwich sub vegan sausage, John's hangover sandwich, and biscuits with gravy sausage. Very unprofessional and rude management. I arrived here around the end of the breakfast hours, but well within them. When I tried to enter, I found the manager had locked the door despite there being plenty of customers inside (a likely fire code violation) when he finally decided to talk to me outside he told me they were closed and that I should leave. When I pointed out that we were well within their operating hours he stared me down and told me to "get out of here." I went next door and had a much better experience. I understand wanting to close down a little bit early at the near end of a shift. However, intimidating and insulting customers is not acceptable. The manager, who refused to give his name, is a short older man with grey stubble. I would advise avoiding this place, there are plenty of better options within walking distance. read more

Adorable cafe right outside the campgrounds. Opened for breakfast around 8:30-9am, all food was made quickly and was delicious. We got some breakfast sandwiches and a few croissants - definitely don't miss out on those!! Our group ordered at their walk up window, all staff were wearing masks. We were there for lunch between sessions of a conference at Blackwater Falls. I found the service and/or style of serving to be unpleasant but the food was FANTASTIC. We had a burger with Gruyère, mushrooms and bacon jam. The burger was good quality and cooked perfectly. The cheese was gooey and the mushrooms cooked just the way I like them but that bacon jam is the star of the show. We had yummy hummus that was made on premises and sweet potato fries that were excellent. The restaurant was clean. I wish that napkins and silverware were given without asking. I know COVID etc but it's a pain to get up and go try to get someone's attention for a fork. I also think drinks should be brought to the table and guests shouldn't be expected to carry them for many reasons. We will go back but I'll still be salty about the service. read more

Got biscuits and gravy today, my first meal of the year and it was quite delicious. Although the place was very busy this morning we really didn't wait long for a table at all. The service was courteous and the food was delivered swiftly. My companions had the big breakfast, the first item on the breakfast menu, and a sausage egg and cheese bagel sandwich. They really enjoyed their food as well. The restroom is clean and it's nice that they have a men's room and a ladies' room separately. The entire dining area is clean as well and appears to be very well kept. I would certainly come back. read more

A beautiful and sunny space for a slow morning. We came for breakfast before a day at Blackwater. The food was fantastic (especially the pancakes!), but service was a bit slow. We had to ask for almost everything (such as water refills) twice. I also expected the skillet portion size to be a bit bigger for the price. The storefront is beautiful with lots of windows and is decorated with homemade/vintage pieces that feel like your kind grandmother's living room. The employees also were very sweet. After spending some time in Thomas today with some friends I decided to head over to Davis later in the day to grab a bite to eat before heading back home. I have ate at nearly every single place in the area except Milo's Cafe so I thought let me look at their menu and to my surprise they had something I had been craving for a while now. "VEGAN SLOPPY JOES" Whoop Whoop!!! I was so pumped that I nearly jumped up and down with joy. No seriously, I did. Haha! I proceeded to order it, potato wedges with wasabi ketchup and a hard cider to enjoy while I was waiting for my food. We grabbed a table in their lovely courtyard and enjoyed our beverages and not long after they called my name. When I opened the bag and then the wrapping of my sandwich I smiled super big and not long after that my stomach did too. This was truly the most amazing vegan sloppy joe I might have ever had. The texture and seasoning was perfect! The bread was perfect and the potato wedges and wasabi ketchup was on point too. Horrible experience, all around. Waited 30 minutes for a table, which was fine. It was a busy ski weekend. Our server brought my parents their drinks, and my dad had the nerve to say something about 10 minutes later since she still hadn't brought my bottled soda, and even commented herself after about 5 minutes. Our server was also short with us when we ordered our food. Then, about 30+ minutes after taking our orders, the server tells both tables on either side of us that she's leaving for the night, and passes them off to the other server, without saying anything to us. I overheard her telling one of the tables that she's not usually a server there (sounded like maybe she was an owner or something, and she didn't sound like she was from WV). After about 45 minutes of waiting for our food, we asked for a status update and were rudely told by our new server that it typically takes 1-1.5 hours to get food. We replied that it's would've been nice if they had told us that when we had put our names in, which seemed to upset them even more. They also ran out of everything and had to close early as a result (while not entirely their fault, I feel like they should be able to anticipate that on snowy weekends, they are going to have a lot of business). We finally got our food over an hour after we ordered, and my mom was given only a cup of soup instead of a bowl. When she had placed the order, the server (the first one) had acted like she was crazy when she asked for the larger size, yet asked someone at a neighboring table who ordered soup if they wanted a cup or a bowl. Anyway, when we told our new server about the issue, she said she would check, and then came back with a second cup and explained that my mom was given a cup because they had run out of clean bowls. I.e., they were going to give her the smaller size and hope that she didn't notice (even though all she ordered for dinner was the soup). No apologies or anything. None of us were impressed with the food either. I had the seafood linguini fra diavolo. It was edible, but the sauce had a bit too much garlic (more garlic than spice), and the garlic bread that came with it was kind of stale. This is not the friendly WV/southern hospitality that we are used to in Davis, and the owner/server lady was clearly not a native. Go elsewhere. read more

Great breakfast menu that has yet to disappoint! We are in Davis often and always have breakfast at Milo's. We are always amazed at the wait staff and the number of customers they serve efficiently. The decor is rustic and comfortable. I recommend the bagel with lox and Eggs Benedict. read more

Altogether we had the huevos rancheros, the hangover sandwich, the scramble, some bacon, and coffees. It was all great but IMO the hangover sandwich was the winner-- those buttermilk biscuits are so buttery, heavenly!
