We stopped in after a hike and had the crab bombs & burgers . Food & service were great.

Firstly, no hate on the food, it was great. I got the fish and chips and it came out hot, crisp, and had good flavor. The coleslaw was finely shredded, which was a pleasant surprise, and dressed in the regular mayo sauce. The tartar sauce was the only thing mediocre seeing as it wasn't that tangy or acidic, it was pickley, which I like pickles, but I want my tartar sauce not that pickley. Now, as for why I only give it two stars. I came in with a group of 12 for lunch at about 1. I know this can be a bit overwhelming, but I don't think they had properly trained for scenarios like this. We talked to a waitress/host and she had said that they are doing tables in sections, which we were like, "We understand and would be ok if you had to split us into two tables," but I just don't think she knew what to do. So, she asked her manager, I presume, and they ended up putting tables together to accommodate us, and turned it into a teaching moment saying, "Anyone can do this" in reference to putting available tables together to seat a large group such as ours. After we were seated and had gotten our menus we put our drink orders in, which came out within a fair amount of minutes. We put in our food orders about 5 minutes later. Nothing too customized, just normal cheese, no cheese, sub regular fries for sweet potato. She took our order and never came back to our table until the food came out. This was a good 50+ minutes. I understand food for a large group can have a long wait time, but part of the service industry is giving updates and refreshing drinks. Other tables had came and went during the time we were there, it was quite bothersome. We had someone go up and ask about our food since we were all hungry and a bit ticked off. Soon after that we got what we ordered. Well, mostly at least. One person had ordered the portobello sandwich and that comes with sweet potato fries according to the menu. They came with regular for her plate. Not that she complained, the regular turned out more crispy than the sweet potato. It would have been nice to know in advance that they would have to sub it if they had ran out of sweet potato fries however. We asked for refills and once we got them she brought ketchup, asked if we needed anything else, and left us alone again. Our server along with seeming new, also had a tired/I don't like my job vibe the whole time. At the end of our meal, we got the check with 18% gratuity already set as the tip since we had a large group. The food was good, but I don't think we'll be back for our next big family trip up here. It seemed like they did best with smaller groups 2-4. Just make note if you're coming up here with a large party. read more

We landed in Davis on a Sunday. Looking through Yelp most restaurants are closed until Wednesday so we settled' on Wicked. What a find. Our server, Trinity, was new to this establishment so being the old navy guy I am I couldn't make it completely easy on her. After several menu questions, including some that sent her to the kitchen for answers I got the shrimp and sausage grits - simple amazing with just the right amount of cheese. Lori got the chicken pot pie which was equally amazing. As part of the experiment I ordered an old fashioned. This is a difficult drink to make well (and most do not) , the bartender hit it out of the park. My family of four (me, wife, two kids ages 15 and 17) visited Wicked Wilderness for dinner. What a great experience and dinner! Our server was Heather and she did a wonderful job all around! Attentive, personable, and friendly! I ordered the Flank Steak cooked Medium and it was one of the best, moistest, and most flavorful steak I have ever eaten! Heather delivered the steak to the table with A1 sauce. If someone were to use A1 on this steak, they need to thrown out of the establishment!!! They simply should not provide A1 as it would be an insult to the chef to use on such a flavorful piece of meat! My wife ordered the Chicken Potpie, my kids got the burger and charbroiled chicken sandwich. Not a bite left on anyone's plate. We went here after going to the burrito place across the street and finding out it's a 50 minute wait. We sat down and 10 minutes later ordered. We got our food probably an hour later and it was horrible. The breadstick came and was hard as rock. Got charged for sauce we didn't ask for. Food was gross. I'm torn writing this review. Wicked Wilderness is one of handful of finer dining spots in this small town of Davis and they present themselves outwardly that way. The decor / ambience is pretty decent. They also have live music playing on Saturday nights. However, our experience last night was a huge miss in at least a couple different aspects. For starters: the service. No one seated or even acknowledged us and the other guests waiting for maybe a good 10-15 minutes, even though they had at least three waitresses. Took so long that one couple behind us eventually left and another seated themselves at the bar. However, eventually an older lady let us know she'd get to seating us soon, and she was a really sweet waitress once she had the bandwidth to serve us. The other issue was the food. I ordered the white pizza flatbread and the entire thing was flavorless. The mushrooms came out of a can - yuck! - and the asparagus may have as well - it was too soft and flavorless for me to tell. My partner ordered the pot pie but said the chicken was a bit odd and very limited in quantity, and said it was like eating chowder with the biscuit. However, the desserts helped redeem the experience - the brownie with ice cream was nice and gooey and my pumpkin cheesecake was home made and decent. Finally, another redeeming factor was the price was really cheap. So 2.5 star for food, 3.7 star for service, 4.5 star for ambience, and maybe 4 star for price. Overall, maybe a 3.6 star experience. read more

We're passing through and ate lunch here on a Saturday afternoon. We were seated immediately in a booth. They were not busy. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The entire restaurant has a very comfortable feel to it. Relaxed and informal.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Our server took out drink order and then our food order immediately. We had the pulled pork sandwich with fries and cole slaw and the noodles with peanut sauce. It is called a salad on the menu. It is served hot. Both were delicious. Portions are generous and the prices are more than reasonable. Service was fast, friendly and efficient and they checked on us several times. Diet cokes could use more bubbles but not a deal breaker. We enjoyed our meal very much and will be back. read more

Things are a little weird in the age of COVID, some places not able to open at all, some that have made good adjustments, and some that are trying but maybe not quite being as good as they might usually be. It's a little extra hard for restaurants in smaller towns where it seems to be harder to get all your employees back to work. We were at Wicked Wilderness on a holiday weekend, so I am sure that this put some extra pressure on them. Overall it was a good experience: the food was OK, the menu seemed a little limited, but the server was very pleasant and helpful. We were appreciative that this establishment stayed open later than several of the other restaurants in the area who had shortened hours in the age of COVID. It's hard to end your day "early" when the weather is nice, the sun is still up, and you are having fun with family. read more

I wanted to love this place based on the name alone. Unfortunately, the experience was mediocre at best. We were seated quickly and staff was friendly. Ordered the fish dip, as recommended, to start. Good flavor but came in a jar that was hard to get out of. We ordered buffalo chicken Mac and cheese and pulled pork sandwich. Both were just ok flavor but texture of the pork was mushy and the pasta was soupy. The sweet WV fruit wine we chose to go with our meal came warm. As we were told it is "red wine" and once we enlightened the server that sweet fruit wine should be chilled there was no effort made to remedy or offer alternate. Waitress was really sweet. The lady with long red brown hair needs a new line of work. First - why would you only do one check per table ?? I've worked in restaurants over 20 years. It's not hard. But- we specifically questioned this - as if they were sticking to that we would have simply dined elsewhere. The waitress told us she COULD and would split our check. As she was doing this - the other lady came over and tried to tell us they wouldn't. I made it clear - we asked and now they needed to honor that. PERIOD. My husband and I arrived here at 9pm on a Friday evening hoping to catch a bite to eat and a beer prior to settling into our AirBnB. They were one of two places still open at that time of night and they had dine-in available. The food menu was fairly small but had a good variety of food listed. The beer/wine list was also on the smaller side but they had a good selection of local WV beer available. I was thrilled to see they had the Long Point Lager from Bridge Brew Works as that was a brewery we went to during our trip to Fayetteville last year! I was hoping to try the Chicken Pot Pie in a jar but they had just sold out! So disappointing! I ended up with a bowl of Black Bean Chili with addition of chicken. When it arrived (reference picture), the chicken looked like it was a slight after thought, as I thought it may have been mixed in with the chili instead of just laying right on top. There was some good flavors in the chili but I would have hoped for more peppers and onions or diced tomatoes to break up the amount of black beans. Also the chicken was quite dry but was edible when mixed in and allowed to soak for a little in the juices of the chili. I felt the price was a bit steep for what I received. As for the service, we were seated quickly however it took quite awhile for us to be acknowledged after that. After about 15 minutes our food an drink orders were taken and it was another 15-20 minutes until we received the food. The servers were friendly but you could tell it was the end of the night and they were ready for the restaurant to close. The decor? Very wilderness like. We were seated beside the long, fake fireplace with wooden deer on top. There was a mural on one wall behind the stage, huge stuffed animals filling the chairs of unused tables and wooden trim throughout the building. For our purposes, this place was just fine. Checked this place out on our last night in WV Mountain country. Right in the center of Davis and parked in front. Greeted as we entered and proceeded to the bar where we prefer to eat. Bartender was friendly and loquacious. Ordered a couple of lagers. For a starter we got the Ruben fried egg roll. Unusual but delicious. We chatted up the Owner who was sitting at the bar and learned that he had only been open a year. The bar was an interesting and beautiful copper inlay which he bought and had installed. We then got the chicken pot pie. A unique offering. Quite delicious but not a traditional style. We shared and my portion was great - it ended almost like a soup. The biscuit was wonderful. A nice stop on our exploration of the mountain region. We suggest a look see if you are in the area. We recommend a visit to Davis when in the area. After a long day of photography, I wanted some place good to eat. So I asked a few locals and everybody told me this is the "best place in town". I arrived at 6pm, and being a single, I told the hostess I'd sit at the bar. Well the bar was full so asked for a table. 30 min later, I was seated. It took about 10 min before my server showed up, and she didn't even introduce herself to me, just asked "are you ready to order?". I was, so I asked for a glass of water, and the Fish and Chips, off she went. No comment made. She brought me my water about 10 mins later. I sat and watched the entertainment, while waiting for my food. 40 minutes later, my food was brought out. All my server said was "I'm sorry for the wait". Not once in that 40 minutes did she check on me to see if I needed anything, nor was I offered anything to hold me over until my meal was served. I had to flag down the hostess to get some napkins and ketchup. When I was done with my meal, it was the hostess that asked if I was done or wanted anything else and brought me my check. I would have love to have dessert, but considering how long it took to get my food, I didn't feel like waiting another 30 minutes. As I was leaving, I saw my server sitting out back, smoking and playing on her phone. I can say the hostess was the best thing about this restaurant, but even she can't make it nice enough to want to go back to give them another shot. If this is the best Davis has, I'll drive to the next town over and give them a shot. read more

Slow Friday night in Davis - only a couple of other couples but the bar area was busy. Had chicken pot pie and it was great. Big fluffy biscuit "pie" on top of a great creamy chicken vegetable "pot". Most excellent. My wife had salad and black bean soup, which she loved too. Waitress was great. Attentive but not over bearing! Full bar plus Local beers and others on tap. Good variety. This place seems to have a real menu and I was happy with my order but it's clearly not a great dining experience. Friendly. Yes. Delivered as ordered. Yes. Exceptional. No. I had the soup of the day (potato cheese with broccoli) and a caesar salad with a side of beer. Good. Memorable? No. No dessert. One beer. $20 including tip. I'll be back. I'm giving this a (1) star because of the terrible food, but also because they add (steal) a service fee on the check and the service wasn't good. First off, the chicken pot pie has Sysco corp. chicken out of a can as the main ingredient (not real chicken), the meal was cold and think this was because not enough servers and the service fee rubbed me the wrong way as it's on the bottom of the check and I'm sure a money maker for them. I really felt like the food was gross or TERRIBLE food, didn't like the service fee and the service was bad. So MANY other good places to go to in Davis and Thomas and a wasted dinner for us. read more

The pepperoni rolls were awesome! And that's the ONLY reason I didn't give it a negative review. But when you are going out to eat the thing that counts the most is the food. It wasn't to busy & food didn't take to long to get to our table. Order an appetizer & the steak. It was terrible and to be honest, tasted like they cooked up OLD nasty steak they were trying to get rid of & pass off to unfamiliar faces. They are only opened Thursday- Sunday. We went on a Thursday . Would not go back.! Still have that yuck taste in my mouth & all three A-1 sauce in the world will not drown it out. read more
