Zack (who showed me the property and set up the reservation) and Cindy (who was on-site manager the day of the event) were very easy to work with. Since, the property is managed by Fairfax County; I never got the feeling that I was being upsold. The space itself has both pros and cons. The cons of the space is that is split into several small to medium sized rooms making it difficult to host a typical style reception (our guests stayed and gravitated outside so we hardly needed the indoor space). You have to bring down the chairs and tables from the top of the stairs (the tables and chairs are included in your rental costs). The Dranesville Tavern only has a cold kitchen (so, if you'd like an event where the cater(ers) are cooking something fresh at your party site this is not the location for you). You must have a license catering (no on-site cooking from the hosts is permitted). You have to pay (and give yourself additional time) to obtain an ABC license from the state of VA. The pros are the outdoor space includes 2 large covered decks on either side of the property. Our party was able to set out the chairs and tables on the deck and our guests brought their food from the buffet (set up in one of the rooms inside). If you're looking for a place with charm the Dranesville Tavern is a nice mixture. It is historic without being small (believe it can hold up to 80 people). It also has a nice rustic feel to it. The exterior of the buliding looked nice in our pictures. The Dranesville Tavern gives you an rain plan. Although we only used the indoor space for a place to store gifts, drinks and the buffet; it was nice to know had it rained that we could still host our guests comfortably. The lawns at the Dranesville Tavern are large and surround the property and although this property is located off a busy road it feels very private. Our party had several lawn games for people to enjoy (making the lawns even more pleasant place to spend an afternoon). There is ample parking (at no additional cost) located next to the property. In a nutshell for the cost and space, if you're looking for a place that feels special without the upcharge; I would suggest looking at the Dranesville Tavern.

It's run by Fairfax County and the staff were easy to work with and helpful as we planned our event. The only drawback to the building is that there isn't one large room like most event spaces. But there is a nice porch that over looks a beautiful lawn. There are multiple good sized rooms where you can set up tables for food and seating on both floors. Overall given the reasonable cost, good proximity to Nova/DC, lovely historic building, and abundant parking it was a choice and I would recommend it for small to medium gatherings (30-60 people), particularly in the spring and fall.

What a wonderful addition to Herndon!…read more I attended Potters Union's magnet and pastry event with a friend, and we had the best time. We hadn't seen each other in almost a year, so it was the perfect excuse to catch up while doing something creative. The event was simple and fun. We picked our magnets, selected our paint colors, grabbed some pastries, and spent the next couple of hours painting and chatting. It was such a relaxing way to spend a Sunday morning. Stefani was fantastic, friendly, welcoming, and happy to answer questions. The entire space felt warm and inviting, even for complete beginners. I love that they also offer beginner pottery classes, which I'm already adding to my list for a future visit. It's great to see a pottery studio opening in the area, and I'm excited to support a local business that's bringing creative experiences to the community.

Curators and employees are friendly and knowledgeable, and the caliber of artist is exceptional (no bias here, really). All the pieces on show are for sale, and the gallery also has a little gift area selling smaller pieces like stationery, jewelry, and pottery. Husband and I picked up a miniature ceramic vase for a steal. ArtSpace is a bit isolated and remotely located near "Old Town" Herndon, but it's worth seeking out.

It's a large airy room and showed about 40 (?) paintings, about twenty from each with subjects ranging from children, landscapes, plants and some a little more complicated. Manisha and Prashsant, owners of Stone Manor Inn, were personally involved in making sure all went smoothly with our cocktail and dinner party, and it most certainly did! SMI is a lovely old country inn on 14 acres, I believe, with a number of different venues (indoors and out) for meetings, parties, and weddings. The rooms (7 in total) were eclectic, in a good way. All four of their largest rooms that we occupied were spacious, with king beds and spa tubs with separate showers. All were well maintained and clean upon check-in. We had no complaints. I'm not sure when we will return to the area, but when we do, we will not hesitate to return!

Truly for the off-the-grid, stone aged folks who like to touch, see, and feel information about chess clubs, and single mingle events. (Um, I just learned that it's also on their website). Owned by a South Asian it does cater to a lot of South Asian weddings but also other denominations. Pretty and large open space. However you have to park at the bottom of the Hill and walk up. If its cold or in heels, good luck. There is a small shuttle that will take 4-7 folks up but be careful getting in and out. If its early April and its cold, wear warm clothes like a overcoat. The bar and place for food buffets is outside...great for warm weather but not cold. The outdoor toilets flood so be aware. Nice large tent for guests but in cold weather don't depend on warmth from the heater as the door outside stays open a lot. Seems like a nice place to hold weddings with space but caveats beware.
