Like that wimpy kid from high school who transforms him/herself throughout college and suddenly becomes confident and hot, Tally Ho has done that and then some. I recall when this place used to be a rinky-dink movie theatre playing movies on the low with cheap popcorn and sticky floors back in the 90's. After going through a makeover and transforming into a performance theatre, the venue books live artists with credentials who rock the house and bring in tourists from other areas to visit. My experience with the newly renovated theatre occurred early December when it came to my attention Tropidelic & Quasi Kings were performing here. Tropidelic has become one of my favorite bands so I immediately jumped at nabbing a ticket and attending here when I got word they were performing. The bands crushed it with their performance which is a credit to the venue with their sound quality, stage setup, clean atmosphere, and accessibility of food/beverages. Plus the restrooms are clean and co-ed with individual toilet rooms; a genius concept since the lines move quickly and efficiently. Not to mention the ticket prices are what they should be: affordable and reasonable. During the show, I got word some people were visiting from areas such as PA, OH, and WV and it was their first time in Leesburg. They spoke glowingly about the town and the venue which brought a smile to my face as a former Leesburg resident. Also spoke with the band a bit and they mentioned how the crowd brought energy and enthusiasm which is a testament to their fanbase and also Leesburg in general. This is now a venue where I will check to see artist lineups. If they can get bands like Tropidelic to play here, I look forward to seeing who else wants to venture to play in this killer venue!

The Tally Ho is a fun venue. I've been to a handful of concerts there. I like that it's close to Western Loudoun, but still brings in big names like John 5. It's got a great intimate atmosphere and really easy to get to (parking is free). Since it used to be a movie theater back in the old days, the general admission floor is sloped, which is really nice for shorter people to not be blocked by taller people. Bartenders are friendly and they serve a good selection of drinks. There's a burger joint downstairs that sells cheap burgers and fries- good enough to keep you from going hungry. Contrary to what others say, I think the upstairs VIP section is worth the money. It's really nice to be able to sit down and have a break from the crowds. My only complaint is that they could do better on maintenence. Part of the roof looks like it's falling apart, and one of the toilet seats was loose in the bathroom. Still, I will keep coming back whenever a band piques my interest.

Easily one of the best live music venues in nova. Parking is a little tight in the parking structure behind the venue. Sadly it shares the space with all of the nearby bars and shops, so depending on the day of the week, it may already have a fair number of cars in it. Probably want to arrive early. Their music lineup is quite good with many older bands coming through here. On different occasions we've seen Buckcherry, Winger, and Firehouse. Patrons have been pretty mellow, and the staff keep a close eye on things. We will be returning as regularly as long as they keep booking 80's rock.

Great venue for a small concert. Decent stage and sound system. Ticket prices are usually are very reasonable. Solid beer selection at the bar. Plenty of parking in the nearby parking garage.

We saw the band "The arena rock band" there last night. The sound was great. Acoustics were very good in this facility. We had a wonderful time. We came from Chesapeake, Virginia.

VIP is an absolute waste of money. Trust me .. you get way quicker service going downstairs to the bar and bringing your drink back up.

100% recommend this place as a wedding venue for no more than 150 people…read more The venue: My wedding had about 135 and seemed like the perfect number. Also had my wedding in middle November which was a hit or miss on weather but was in the 50s, perfect weather for our little S'mores setup. And Birkby still had trees with leaves that fell late so we still had a variety of fall colors still in the backdrop. Birkby has such a homey comfortable feeling with the cottage house, gazebo and other garden space, and the reception tent. The tent, with the lightings, is so beautiful. When I asked a cousin for wedding pictures, she had about 15 of just the lighting. Good thing we had an actual photographer! The house has several rooms for the cocktail hour for the guestbook, gifts, and other neat hangout spots as well as a pair of restrooms. There are another pair of restrooms by the tent. The upstairs has a bridal and grooms suite. Bridal suite is large and my wife and her ladies loved it. The grooms suite is cozy with a TV, couch, and fridge--all you really need. The 2nd floor also has two porches that look out to the rest of the venue. Great photo ops! Coordinators: Had the viewing with Carleigh--absolutely fantastic and super friendly and decided to go with her and Kristin (Simply Royal Events) for our wedding coordinators. It felt like a huge advantage having them coordinate since they knew the place inside and out and knew most, if not all, of our vendors. They were quick to respond and adjust to all of our last minute changes and updates. They were all over the place (in the best way possible) from beginning to end as in they had everything organized and made sure people/things were in place and yet were also very available for any questions or comments I or the bride had the day of. The wedding transitions happened so swiftly that I hardly saw any of it happen. The ceremony chairs were swept off, space heaters were set up, the firepit and S'mores layout was done, and off I went through a line of sparklers. Vendors: The Birkby House has an open house every spring and invites their preferred caterer and vendors. Definitely check this out if you are interested in or planning on having an event/wedding at Birkby. There are a lot of local vendors present, some who don't really have the publicity as other vendors that may have hundreds of reviews. For example, we went with a local photographer Steve and Bernadette Dalgetty and even though we haven't received the pictures yet, they were such a charm to work with. We did go with their partner caterer Tuskies and that couldn't have gone any better. The tasting was a little unconventional. We basically just had dinner at their restaurant with a $100 tab so we couldn't really try specific items on their wedding menu but we tried the filet mignon and branzino dishes that best replicated the wedding entrees. We absolutely loved the filet mignon and this chocolate martini (which we added to our wedding) but the branzino was a bit dry so we actually considered removing the fish option but we were glad we didn't. ALL the food during our wedding was phenomenal from hor d'oeurves to entrees--best wedding food ever (said no one ever but I'm serious, Tuskies was amazing!) Not only was the food great but also Neal was so fun and easy to work with. They also allowed us to bring our own alcohol saving in some costs. I truly think the triple threat of Neal, Carleigh, and Kristin was the reason why my wedding went so smoothly or at least appeared like it ran smoothly haha. Misc: Other perks to the venue, there's a large public parking lot behind the venue that is really only used as a commuter lot during the week so it was fully available for guests. It's in downtown Leesburg so it's a great spot to check out a local bar if you come early. But speaking of downtown.. The con: The only negative thing about the venue is because it's in downtown Leesburg near residents, there was one resident who complained and called the cops multiple times. There's a noise curfew at 10pm which is when the wedding ends anyway but he complained well before 9pm. I'm sure this happens quite often, it has to being in such a residential area and while it was annoying having to deal with a disgruntled neighbor on your wedding night, the cops really seemed to care less. The cops said as long as the coordinators had the permit (which they did), the noise was fine.

I was very lucky to have found this place (after several unsuccessful searches to find a small indoor venue for our hour long ceremony). Weddings on Wirt will hold up to 30 people. Although the space is the small, the little touches like the gold chairs (which are part of your hourly rental) and historical looking furnishings are a nice alternative to getting married at the courthouse (also looks better in pictures than a courthouse). Suzanne (the owner of Legacy Weddings and proprietary of Weddings on Wirt) is very accommodating. If you have a small event planned the space and add-ons available are perfect. (Although, the space is typically used for weddings. Suzanne is flexible (and told me) she has hosted other events at space, like baby showers). I loved the fact that Weddings on Wirt has wedding packages and gives their prices up front. We decided for example to add a small cake and sparkling cider toast to our hourly package after our ceremony was finished (we made this decision, a week before the ceremony, and Suzanne didn't mind the last minute decisions). In a nutshell, I recommend this space for a small gathering due to its flexible terms and affordability.
