I recently went to the Luk Foo branch in Puregold Caloocan to celebrate my grandmother's birthday…read more At first, I was skeptical of this choice because I have never been to a Luk Foo restaurant before. Nonetheless, I decided to give it a try. The interior of this branch is very relaxing. The decorations, the design of the tables and the hall itself resemble the traditional design of Chinese restaurants, but the use of light colors and bright lighting makes one feel at ease here. The service is very timely and cordial. This restaurant is perfect for large groups of people celebrating birthdays, baptisms, and other life events. If you are looking for a relatively quiet dining place, this is not your cup of tea. Keeping with its Chinese theme, Luk Foo offers a wide variety of classic Chinese foods, such as yang chow rice, Chinese-style chicken, dumplings, and pancit canton. Whether your order is for solo meals or groups, the servings are really large. In fact, our group went home with a lot of leftovers that were consumed the next few days. Customers will have their appetites satisfied and they all taste delicious. I particularly enjoyed its version of cream dory, which is crispy and tender at the same time. The meals are also really cheap given the serving size. Honestly, this may be one of the most affordable restaurants I have ever been in. If you are in the Caloocan area craving for Chinese food with your friends and family, Luk Foo in Puregold Caloocan is probably the best Chinese-themed restaurant in the area.

We ended up here as our second choice after finding out that Vikings Buffet was completely packed,…read morewith a wait time of several hours. As it turned out, that was a blessing in disguise. From the moment we walked in, we were seated almost immediately. The staff were incredibly accommodating, attentive, and genuinely friendly. They took the time to make several recommendations, and we're so glad we followed them. We started with the Shrimp and Pork Siomai, which was absolutely delicious. The filling was juicy, and each bite burst with flavor. The tofu was another standout, perfectly cooked with great texture and seasoning. We also ordered the Shrimp with Salted Egg Yolk, and wow, it was rich, flavorful, and incredibly satisfying. The Oyster Omelette sounded a little unusual at first, but it turned out to be surprisingly delicious as well. One dish I can't forget is the Honey Barbecue Pork, which deserves an honorable mention. It had the perfect balance of sweet and savory flavors. I don't know if we simply got lucky, but every single dish we ordered was fantastic. The restaurant itself has a classy yet welcoming atmosphere. It's clean, well-maintained, and comfortable without feeling overly formal. Overall, this was a wonderful dining experience, and I'd happily recommend it to anyone looking for a great Chinese restaurant in SM North.

Generally, I find the quality and authenticity of the food here to be excellent. The only criticism…read moreI have (the reason for 4 not 5 stars) is the tendency for some of the dishes to be sweet. Now, that's a personal opinion! I have eaten at two location and each time spent over 1,000 pesos and qualified for the free xia long bao. Other rewards are available but those I am not getting into for they maybe temporary in nature. I have tried two of their specials - the three cup chicken and the sweet spare ribs. The three cup chicken, eaten with white rice, is a great meal by itself. The original recipe calls for three cups of sesame oil, soy sauce and rice vinegar. Cooked with large chunks of ginger and garlic cloves, and basil thrown it, it is a very addictive dish! The sweet spare rib was a bit too sweet for me ( served sprinkled with powdered sugar) it is best eaten I think, if a complementary spicy dish like Kung Pao shrimp. The xia long bao is as good as others - I really enjoyed it when served hot. For vegetables, the standard fare such as spinach, morning glory, and book choy are available. For our choice, we ordered the green beans with ground pork. Salty and spicy, it was a welcome change from the standards. We found the roast duck to be very greasy - we wondered if it was fried not roasted. I would not order it again. We found the service to be attentive but not obtrusive! Definitely will eat here again.
