In 1987 I voted to raise my taxes with TransNet to extend the trolley to UTC expecting to take the…read moretrolley downtown to Comic Con.  Seems the government spent all that money and asked for more money in 2004 with TransNet 2.  This time they actually started working on the trolley.  I watched them as they were building the line and they finished it in 2021.  It was cool watching them dig a huge hole for the base of the steel reinforced concrete columns.  Then they added steel.  Then they put a mold around the steel and added concrete. In July 2022 I rode the Blue Line Trolley to Comic Con.  It took about an hour as I had to transfer to a 2nd trolley line in order to get to the Convention Center from UTC.  The price was $5 for a day pass which I found quite reasonable.  The trolley was pretty new and they kept it clean.  Ride was smooth.  Not too many people riding the Blue Line. I like riding the trolley and plan on taking it whenever I go to Comic Con or jury duty as it's cheaper than paying for parking. This is a the only and I mean the only transit station in rancho Bernardo you get the the 20 bus…read moregoes back downtown down here the 235 comes here the 290 and one more other but otherwise there are no bathrooms nothing to eat it's nothing but a park and drive Park and Ride place it's right next to the highway it's open most the time what's the nice it has a really nice view of it too basically like I said this is the only place in rancho Bernardo you get a bus unless you go down on the main Street which is only the 20 bus that goes from rancho Bernardo and all the way back to downtown San Diegon otherwise you have to go down to the transit center to get the 235 to go back downtown which is the cheapest one you get the other one cost like $5 just to get on the bus unless you have one of the really expensive bus passes which cost $100 when the regular bus pass cost $72 a month

This rest area has a lot of potential to be really wonderful, with its amenities, a nice park like atmosphere, and an ocean view. Outside, there is a place where you can buy drinks, and there is also plenty of parking. Inside, it is quite clean for a public restroom facility. It's just a simple stop along the way, but it's comfortable enough when you need a break on the road.

Additionally, you can meet an eclectic array of folks waiting to make their way away from the first inland spot west of the Pacific ocean. Skate hoodlums and bottle collectors use this station as a jumping off spot to make tourists uneasy and regretting their decision to head East towards Escondido rather than South towards San Diego. Overall, a great place to puke onto old railways before rallying for a Sculpin at Larry's after exiting in Oceanside.

We paid $32.50 in cash for round trip tickets for 2 adults and 1 child, easily accessible via the vending machine and not too difficult to understand. The ride itself felt smooth and was a nice scenic route to see sights such as the Del Mar Racetrack and of course, the Pacific Ocean (be sure to sit on the right side for a better view). Seats were not too bad, even had rows facing sideways available and appeared clean. The train passengers seemed nice and I didn't feel too uneasy, it was a comfortable train ride, felt like we were coasting on the Coaster.

It's a perfect place to relax and watch the train make its way around the park. The Poway Midland Railroad is owned by the city and is well maintained by the Poway Midland Railroad volunteers. If you come to visit, be sure to check the latest schedule for current dates and time of operation. These folks love to share their knowledge of old antique railroad equipment and who wouldn't love a ride on an antique locomotive.
