My previous workplace bought me a desk and I loved it so much I purchased it for myself at my new workplace. Beware of Office Depot's furniture assembly service. I called to set up assembly service and was told someone would call me within 24-48 hours to set up a time. After two weeks, I never heard from someone. I called again, same thing. I called a third time. On the fourth call, it was admitted to me that while they claim to service the entire country they don't have an ample number of service assemblers in every state. I understand things are slower, also, during the pandemic, but I never received a call to get an update. I'm in Manhattan, Kansas, two hours from Kansas City and he told me the closest service technician was in Kansas City. He could not promise if someone could assemble my desk in 2 days or 2 months. The outgoing voice message as you wait on hold has a woman's voice that says Office Depot is "ready" to assemble your furniture. Don't believe it! So I hired a handy man. We spent four hours putting it together. It's not difficult, just very tedious. That's Ok, but when we reached the part of putting on the desktops, we discovered that several of the pre-drilled holes were off by as much as 1/2 to 1 inch. Some spots, where there should have been pre-drilled holes, did not have them for the pegs. I still love the desk, but exceptionally disappointed in Office Depot! I recommend the product, but not Office Depot. Go to Staples or other vendors for items that require assembly.

The staff greeted me when I walked in, but left me alone to sit in a few chairs for a little stretch. I quickly narrowed down to the one I wanted, but it wasn't on sale. I noted that two others were at least 20% off, on sale. So, I walked up to the front of the store, with the item tag for the chair I wanted. I talked to Dominique at the cash register. She was friendly, and had a nice smile. I told her I wanted to buy a chair, but not at full price. Asked if the one I wanted would be on sale soon. She checked, and I mentioned that I'd like to find it 20% off, like the other two. After checking inventory, she told me she could apply a 20% coupon discount to the price! I was definitely pleased with the service I received, and appreciated the way that Dominique got the sale from me, and I got the discount price I wanted. While she was ringing me out, she had another employee bring my boxed chair to the entry, and he placed it in my vehicle for me. I easily put the chair together, at home that night. Took less than half an hour. I'm sitting in it now, pretty pleased! Thanks!

The 2 sales associates I spoke with were pleasant, but I wonder how they work for such rip-off management/ownership. I knew this place was a joke after seeing a sectional couch listed for over $14,000. Even with the sale price, it was still incredibly overpriced by several thousand. I was interested in a 5'x7' rug that was listed at $1755. A gentleman, who seemed to be a manager, said he'd offer 75% off at $450, still insanely ridiculous. I replied that I was thinking closer to $50, which he audibly laughed at and became offended by. He claimed they were all hand-woven from India, after which he told another customer that they will throw all unsold rugs in the dumpster after closing. Such a waste of time. I worry for people that fall for this sale, as it makes total sense why they're going out of business.
