May 2019 my truck broke down in Tempe the transmission went out so I googled transmission shops in the area and Aamco is one of them growing up I remember that Amco theme song and all the commercials international name right ?can't go wrong ? bull crap !! Amco international sells their name to private parties as a franchise after pain 3900 and one dollars and $.36 Aamco Tempe chose to not honor there 100,000 mile or 36mon warranty . When clearly under both 3yrs and barely at 40,000 mile ! Over $600 in towing with no results I was recommended the to transmission center . the moment that I walked in and sat down with Joe I felt at ease , and instantly I knew that my vehicle was gonna be a good hands not only did he have a quick turnaround but he also installed a remanufactured transmission with heavy duty components and a heavy duty transfer case for not near the cost of the transmission I pay for at Aamco . Joe and his crew know what they're doing and they really care about the customer and when I was paying which I was really in no position to pay for another transmission .One of the techs stage my car outside so it would be ready for me to jump in and go but I had to go home to get another credit card when I came back they had my car backed up with two cars in front of it so nobody would mess it or t try to take my Yukon . that act alone right there tells me that they care because They didn't have to do that I think joe pricing is fair the quick turn on service was amazing Joe is a stand up business and his compassion for people who have gotten abused and taken advantage of with other companies is amazing . The Transmission center is literally like a mile away from my house don't be like me don't always go after the big name on the Billboard or the company that has money to produce a bunch of commercials . Having the big name is not always better please do your research before you lock somebody down for mechanical work I recommend a Transmission Center and Joel and his team will continue to be my first choice on all my vehicles not only did he fix my transmission but he also Romeo letter off his findings so that I can make Aamco accountable for their mistake . I was lucky enough to find Joe and his team after looking up transmission shop on Google, and they were the first to be recommended. It was time to rebuild my 96 Ford Rangers transmission and Joe managed to fix her up like new in a weeks time, all while keeping me up to date on how she was coming along. I managed to stay under my budget and it came with a 3 year warranty, it's hard to find quality like this. brought my 2011 Ford Mustang here on 6/15 to have a fairly standard clutch install done. I provided all parts needed to complete the job, Exedy Slave Cylinder, Spec Flywheel and Spec Stage 2+ clutch and new pilot bearing. When I dropped off the guy in the front office told me they would only warranty the labor, which is understandable. We agreed on this and i went on my way. 6/16 rolls around and i go to pick up my car. Turns out they did not bleed the slave cylinder properly and there was air in the lines. i took my car right down the road to Big O and let them bleed the clutch for me. An additional $86 dollars which i was not upset about. Noticed the Check engine light was on for random misfires. a well known issue on the 2011 mustang clutch replacements. 2 second google search showed this. I called the shop and was told nobody there aside from the guy in the front office was capable of performing this relearn and he had to leave for the day. so i performed the relearn myself at my apartment. the entire time i had the car i had issues shifting gears and the clutch was not disengaging properly causing a lot of slipping and driveability issues. i was told its an issue with my clutch not the slave cylinder. while the vehicle was at idle i could not get it into gear, i would have to turn the vehicle off and put it into first then start the car again. i asked the shop to take a look at it again because i felt that something was still wrong. they became defensive saying that i was pointing fingers and trying to blame them. I was not trying to blame them, simply wanted to know what was wrong and if it was a defective part so i could get a new one coming. finally on Monday 6/29 i left my apartment complex and my clutch pedal dropped to the floor. limped my car to the gas station and noticed a puddle of brake fluid under the transmission. I called the shop i spoke to a different individual and he was actually super easy to deal with. had my car towed over there and was told they would have the transmission out by Wednesday, turns out they couldn't do it which is no big deal so here we are. Today i get a text saying they had the transmission out and i could come see the issue that happened so i could see if i could get the defective parts warrantied. My brother showed up at the shop for me since i was at work. When my brother asked very basic questions, like what the measurements for the throw were they were baffled and couldn't answer. its a very simple question that any clutch shop would be able to answer. and considering i was going to have the "defective" part warrantied i would need this information. instead of giving this information my brother was confronted by the guy in front. who was oddly confrontational about the whole matter. saying that he was undermining his technicians and trying to point fingers at them. which isn't the case, we just wanted answers so i could get my car fixed. I then get a phone call from my brother stating that he was told to "fuck off" and that we were being "difficult" because we wanted basic information that they couldn't provide. The guy in front then told the techs to push my car out of the shop with no transmission in it because they were tired of our "bullshit". They then proceeded to push my vehicle out to the front lot handed my brother a box of bolts and parts, dragged my drive shaft across the concrete, which caused damage to the drive shaft. told us he did not like us from the beginning because we provided our own "cheap parts". then he went home. upon inspection, you can clearly see the slave cylinder and clutch assembly were never measured leading to excessive travel of the slave cylinder. basically making it a ticking time bomb. So Moral of the story, if you want a simple task completed take your vehicle to someone who actually knows what they are doing. or you too might end up with a shop throwing your vehicle out because they are in over their heads. I needed to fix the transmission on my old 1992 Toyota Tacoma so my daughter could get around, I called the manager, Joe, after a friend recommended the shop to me. Once I had it towed in for a diagnosis, Joe took his time to explain to me what needed to be done and answered all my questions, which is rare and a good sign. They had my daughter's truck for a week and half, during which they kept me informed on the progress being made, the Tacoma drove beautifully once it was finished, my daughter loves it.
