The first few times we used Trash can Willy I believed they were fair in price. This Last time we used them they showed up early waited in the truck then wanted to charge us $400.00 for about a3/4 of a pick up full of stuff, the last time we used them they charged $900 for 3 to 4 pickup trucks full. My daughter in law ask for a military discount( her husband is a Iraq war veteran and still i serves) and the driver did not give her the discount . I went out there and ask for a military discount ( am retired military) then he took $40 off and charged $360, Which was still steep for what we had. We should have refused the services but we were on a time frame and had to have it done. I called 2 day later and the guy on the phone was no help at all. We will not used them again. read more

Outstanding service! The cost was very reasonable too, compared to several others I received. Let's face it, no one likes spending money to begin with, but when you do, you at least want to feel like you got your money's worth. I definitely did here! They were prompt, courteous, and very careful when it came to removing several pieces of furniture from the house. I needed a pool filter detached, and he had an electric saw to take care of that in no time. I had a couple of couches, and a ton of other crap that they took no problem. This was a very pleasant transaction. I called TCW on Monday and inquired about demo and removal of my 10x10 metal shed. Dispatcher asked me for pictures of the shed, inside and out. I sent him the pictures as well as a bullet point description of what I wanted done. Steve mailed me back asking a question about the shed itself and a couple hours after my reply I received a call with a price. The two man team, Zak and his partner (didn't) get the name called me at 9a to let me know they had to dump their truckload and would be arriving around 11a. They arrived at 11:05. The price quoted was what I was charged; the team worked without delay and finished up around 1:00p. Work done was as requested and the team was polite and focused on their work. I'm not a 5 star guy, so take this as a excellent review. If there is one issue I can point to, I would have liked the shed pad cleaned up ( swept) of some of the demo debris, but I did not request this. If I had there's no doubt these guys would have taken care of that as well. Just a quick comment on the negatives for TCW. When I called, I was asked for detailed photos; I believe this step in their process improves the quote estimate accuracy immensely. Anyone hiring a removal outfit to do a job really should document scope of work and provide pictures as it helps the contractor to estimate his labor time more accurately. This is an hourly labor business so be aware that accuracy minimizes disappointment. I would use TCW for future needs without concern. They did a real good job for me. read more

The first time i called everyone was super nice. I decided in my mind to use Trash Can Willys. I called back to schedule them to come and the person that answered the phone was so rude. Me: I would like a desk and a sofa picked up. Them: City. Me: 02135. Them (annoyed), thats a zip code, city? Me: Boston. Them: 240 to 280. Me: Is there a way to get a more accurate figure. Them (with attitude): I dont know what kind of desk it is and I dont know if there are stairs. Me: Well I can tell you about the desk and there are zero stairs. Them: thats the best we can do. I really didn't care the difference between 240 and 280 isn't going to change my life, but the whole attitude was so bad I got scared and schedule someone else. It's a shame it seemed like a nice small business, the kind I am usually inclined to support, now I have to give my money to some big company, but I had to do what I had to do, this stuff needs to be gone so I can get my security deposit back. Called them yesterday and was quoted between $80 and $120 and with cash it may be less. I have about a truckload (F250) of brush and wood. When the men arrived with the box truck, they told me it had to be an exact FLAT truck load and quoted $280!! You've got to be kidding. Then they waited around telling my husband they wouldn't be making a profit, etc. etc. What a RIPOFF. We sent them on their way. So they can't give you an exact quote but think you are in a bind and give you some ridiculous price. In follow up, I had one company come down and quote me $100, and another took it away for $90. read more

I am sad to leave a bad review for a company that looked to be good based on their website. My sister booked them to clean out a tiny one bedroom apartment that had belonged to our mother. She was quoted $120 for one truck load, $240 for two, etc. All of the furniture was in great condition, and I had bagged up 90% of the household items. I took over the responsibility of being there when the cleanout was scheduled due to circumstances beyond my sister's control. When they arrived they were pleasant, but looked like teenagers. One guy, a bit older, began to give me the price charge of $1500...down to $1200! He was explaining different fees but was not even stringing complete sentences together. He didn't even make sense. It felt like a lot of bs. When I explained that that quote was 10x what was quoted to us, he said he'd go out to the truck to talk to a supervisor. I called the office of TCW and tried to resolve this. I was told they would call me right back. They never did. When the crew came back in they tried to charge me $750. I said no. Then they said $650. I said no and had them leave. Again, the leader of the crew didn't even make sense in the things he was saying. Talked to company over the phone. Told them specifically what I was disposing. Received an estimate of $320-360. When the company arrived, they called and said the price had jumped to $1,000. How is it possible to be off by that much when the company knew exactly what was being picked up? Very, very disappointed. Update post-response from company: I completed the form online for an estimate. I was called back asap. Never once did the company mention an in person estimate in two separate phone calls. I also specifically said there were two bagsters filled not just with construction debris, but filled primarily with wood. Do NOT hire this company. We were very pleased with their work! They worked around our schedule to come and remove an old piano we wanted gone and two broken air conditioners. They quoted us $250 over the phone to remove the piano and $25 per AC unit to remove. Piano removal ended up being $300 (plus $50 for the two ACs). We were told over the phone that our final price would not be more than $100 than the original quote, but that the movers needed to asses the space and the item to give a final price. They gave us their price of $300 to remove the piano and then time to decide if we wanted to go through with it. They arrived when they said they would and were fast and efficient. I worked in the private sector construction industry for over 18 years before changing careers. I understand the stress, logistics and management of a jobsite. Things do not always go as planned and jobs are not always what they seem from the get go. I hope this review comes across as fair as it can. I am not here to bash on anyone, just to give feedback from my experience. Trash Can Willy's was hired by my landlord to cleanout the apartment above me. While not being involved in the hire of the company, I was part of the process. To be fair the apartment above me was left in disarray and I can only imagine it was a challenge to complete the job in the time frame allotted. The apartment above me and I shared a storage space that was left in a disgusting condition and had been part of a legal battle as the tenants were not very clean, hoarders and liked to engage in activities that are not legal. After speaking with two separate people from the company on the day they came and giving them instructions on the few things that were mine but buried by the mess left from the other apartment, my items were disposed of by the workers. I should have paid closer attention but why spend my day off babysitting the company, they are competent workers, right? I have a teenage son and a dog, we were in and out of the apartment a few times while the crew was here so it should have been known that kids and a dog use the space, and after the team left I walked the property as the team cleaning out the apartment has made quite a mess during the day including trash and broken glass from furniture and items that were being disposed of. I had hoped that the mess would be cleaned up when the crew left. What I found was broken glass, trash and a yard that was in much worse condition than when the crew showed up. While obviously biased in this situation, I would be embarrassed to leave a job site in the condition they did. The crew left at about 8:45pm and by 9pm I was out with a broom and rake cleaning the driveway and yard so that my dog could go outside with out worrying about him stepping on broken glass. This may not be the norm for the company but it was disappointing to say the least from a company that prides themselves on their work and credentials. read more

My church (in Merrimack Valley, Massachusetts) needed to clean out large piles of junk and old furniture, from multiple rooms and multiple levels of the building, lots of stairs. For past Clean Up Days, volunteers have rented a dumpster--but this job was easily twice as big, with some big, heavy items. We wanted it all cleared safely and re-set in one day, so we called Trash Can Willys. As advertised, the estimator came out promptly to our site and gave us a guaranteed bid. This was our first time paying for a crew, so it seemed like a big investment, but we said yes. On the day, a very courteous team--Perry and Joshua--called to check in, arrived a little early, confirmed the plan and the price, then got to work hauling stuff out (in blazing hot weather). Volunteers focused on getting the newly cleared spaces rearranged for functional use--a much better use of their effort! For some future jobs, we might revisit the dumpster-and-volunteer approach--but there is absolutely no way this huge Clean Up Day would have been a success for us without Trash Can Willys. read more

Get told they will be there in 45 minutes. 6pm comes around. Call they say the same thing. 7pm I call again and get told 1 hour 30 minutes. I told them to forget about and expressed my opinion on how they run a business. They call at 745 and said they were on their way if I still needed them so I said ok. Show up in a box truck that is completely full. No room for anything and get quoted 250$... I was disgusted. He did not ask me to escalate my review. He did not wallow in excuses, but accepted all responsibility. Ultimately, given the travel distance, this job should not have been booked. The employee who booked the job was not Steve and that is truthful because I heard both voices. Yes, Steve is responsible for representations made by an agent of the businesses. The evening prior to the scheduled appointment, Steve apparently noticed the error and gave a directive to another employee to provide notice prior to 9 am on the business day. No notice was given and, again, Steve has taken responsibility. I cannot assess the actual workings of the business, but I can render my opinion of Steve. I have never written a review before but had to for this service. I have lived in Londonderry for over a decade and I think we have had a different snow plow person virtually every year. As long as trashcan Willy is around, I will not be looking again. Not only am I getting a fair price and prompt service, I get email alerts about upcoming storms, school closings and the owners number. He is fair and receptive. He changes up the order of the touted so no one is always first or last and does his best to accommodate special requests. He shows up as planned. He does expect to be paid at the day after service and for the service I get, I go out of my way to be sure that is done. Best service I have had for anything in a very long time. Only issue is that I referred someone else to him and he is not taking any more people as of that call as he wants to keep providing this exceptional service and not be so busy that he can't.
