She is one of the few restaurant owners in this area that I believe is following her passion--and it's a good thing; you can taste her passion! While in my limited Spanish, I often feel embarrassed to go out to eat/concerned about being misunderstood/getting taken advantage of, her restaurant concept is perfect for tourists (and American locals): It is the Spanish equivalent of a grocery store deli-counter, but with EXCELLENT food (of really good quality.) It is neat to go to her store and see the different foods she's prepared, including meatballs (of different kinds dependent on the day; my favorite are her Moroccan Meatballs--so, so good,) chicken-and-mushrooms (in Roquefort cheese sauce with onions,) beef (ternera,) spinach with cream and raisins, paella (also dependent on the day; it's Sunday's special, but it depends on the Sunday for which type of paella is on offer,) and I've even bought baked chicken breasts from her that were fantastic for dinner that evening. It depends on the day what her offerings are (although she has a set list of standard items each day,) and the variety is fantastic. She also offers a service where she cooks for people in-home (prepares different types of foods, including paella,) as well as periodically holds cooking classes, although I've never personally experienced either, but think that her personality and skill for cooking would be great for her catering business. Claudia is a great hostess! I have often found myself purchasing a few clamshell containers and saving them for dinner--and then not having to cook, but having good food at dinner via microwave/stove-top that's as fast as fast food would be, without the drive/wait for delivery and with an infinitely better flavor. Claudia's restaurant is the real deal. Fantastic cooking with the consumer in mind. Absolutely love visiting her restaurant!

As the weather was a bit chilly on this night, we had our starters in the cellar, and enjoyed a bit of education about the wines they carry and what to expect for the evening. Our meal was not only delicious, but the ambiance of the dining room was elegant. We came in right…read morebefore they opened for dinner and the host (wish I remembered his name) came outside and let us in and invited us to have some drinks and enjoy walking around the garden and seeing the little farm house animals they had in the back. Right after, he let us in the wine room and showed us the different sherries and wine. Right after he let us to the kitchen for an exclusive tour (grascias). Our waiter was was super nice :) . He made sure everyone was taken care of which is a refreshing change to other restaurants in Spain. Food was delicious and presented well as you can see in my pictures. I honestly cannot describe the super hospitality we received at this restaurant. I would recommend this place over and over again while in Jerez.

They have been told about this and many other Yelp posts I've submitted these last few weeks!! Ate here recently with friends. They are picky eaters like me, and after walking by and seeing a lot of other diners sitting outside eating their paella which looked very good, we decided to sit and order too. Because of the good weather, we all decided to sit outside but tables weren't available. They took the time to bring out another table just for us, and real wooden chairs (which the other diners did noit have). They were very busy so as you can imagine, we waited to order but we hadn't decided yet so it was perfect. Right off we ordered the mini-pan of paella, along with a half-plate of fried puntillas, which are baby squids and a favorite of mine. A half-racion of this was perfect for us three, and we ate it up within 10 minutes. We also got a bottle of manzanilla, which was brought out with a bucket, which was hung off the side of the table. The paella was later served and it was well done and very decorative. Nobody complained and each one of us three was able to eat a good sized plate and have seconds even!! Good food and great personal service which was noticed and appreciated!! I'd return with friends again! Note that Casa Raul is located in the section of Calle Mina where it's at its narrowest, closest to downtown Rota. When people walk by, they will be within a foot of your table and chair! So the Paella was perfectly cooked, nice and tender with the most flavorful crunchy bottom, the Paella trademark. A wonderful saffron flavor permeated through the rice, shrimp and veggies. This was everything you hope for when it comes to Spanish Paella in one of the most picturesque settings.
