After touring the school, we applied to the pre-k program for early consideration (2/10/25). While communication prior to the tour and the application was quick and helpful, we started to run into problems after our application and fee were collected. To keep this as brief as possible, we reached out regarding timing of the decision on applications three times (both by email and phone call) to finally be responded to nearly five weeks past the first email. Once we received notification that we were placed on a waitlist and "...should a space in the class become available, the enrollment committee will ensure that your application receives thorough consideration..." we had a couple clarifying questions regarding the waitlist and the review process (as it is worded, it sounds as though our application was not even reviewed). We have not heard back from the school in five weeks. We have tried multiple email addresses, including the enrollment coordinator we had been communicating with, in addition to calling the school. Unfortunately, my experience with Prairie School is this: To apply, a family must dedicate time to attend a tour, complete a lengthy application, and pay a $150 non-fundable fee to ultimately not even have your application reviewed (which leads me to wonder what the fee is for, if not payment for the time/resources it takes to review a family's application). Additionally, the school does not respond to questions regarding the application process once your payment is made. As I'm writing this it sounds so wild! I would not recommend looking into this school.

It has been such a lovely environment for our children to enter into learning and socialization. They get to think for themselves, explore the outside world, think about their place in our environment and be creative in so many different ways. We love Prairie!

My son attended 30 plus hours of instruction at Lindamood-Bell Oak Park. I am not convinced that…read morethis is was effective tool for his needs. We spent over $16,000 for the personalized instruction. At that point, we were desperate to assist his academic needs. Some of the instructors were decent, but there was a high turnover rate for staff at this location. One year later, and his reading levels have not improved at all! I think for my son to gain any long term benefits, we would have had to sink $50,000+ of money into this program. That is a financial burden and risk that we are not willing to take! Definitely, not worth the time, program cost and gas money that I put into my car! Currently, we have my son working with a tutor after school for 5 days a week (close to home) and we have spent 1/4 the money. The results have been MUCH better and my son is happier because there is less drive time.

Not many places can get a just turned 6 year old to sit and study in an office cubicle for 4 hours a day 5 days a week for 4 weeks during their summer vacation - and love it! I'm very pleased with her progress and it is definitely noticed by her teachers and tutors this school year! I am giving 4 stars bc I have yet to start the program with LMB but I saw the negative review posted here and had to share our experience because it was much different. I have had my daughter (she's 5.5) tested by 5 different professionals in a lot of different areas of expertise (occupational therapy, behavioral therapy, speech pathology, and auditory testing, and LMB in OP) to get to the bottom of why she is behind her kindergarten class in reading. Her school has a pretty intense Kindergarten program so I wanted to at least give her confidence in her ability to catch up to peers. Anyway, I felt the testing at LMB was top notch, and was very thorough with legs to each area. Their test came back with very similar results to other testers (not affiliated with LMB or even in the same state) but their approach to "fixing" my daughter seemed like a clear path over a 4 week period. I didn't feel like I was being sold to at all, I felt like they took the time to truly get to know my daughter (and even requested one more test the following day to gauge her against higher standards bc of her expectations at her school). I would not even be considering paying their fees if I didn't feel like Sierra (the director) and her crew hadn't spent the time with my daughter and actually had solid feedback. In addition, their findings mirrored what the other specialists found as well so it reaffirmed my gut instinct. It's not a cheap place but from talking with other professionals I know they yield proven results. I'm willing to try it this summer and will update my review once we go through it. I just didn't want people to be totally scared off by the unfortunate experience the other reviewer had. It's a frustrating and emotional journey when you're worried about how to help your child, and I would still consider LMB to help even if it's just their testing (which is WAY less expensive than the other testing we did! The actual program is what is pricy).

I am a resident of Addison IL and has been for 6 years now. I have children in both elementary and…read moremiddle school and Fullerton Elementary is by far the WORST! school within the district. My children always come home and report how their day went and I would always hear unacceptable statements and responses from multiple staff members including substitute teachers. The principle Carrie Stange has a very rude, nonchalant attitude when it comes to my children (African American) Example: my daughter comes home and tells me she had a sub for her class today and that the sub told the kids in the classroom that (quote) " that's why Donald Trump doesn't like black people" so I call Fullerton to discuss the matter with the principle and she stated " the sub wasn't speaking about Black people that in fact she was speaking about Mexicans and that she is also a mexican" bottom line Dr. Stange is a principle whom is supposed to uphold her position with enough respect to not allow any form of discrimination within her school. I must say I am one happy parent that she has been back demoted to the director of education. I don't believe she deserves any higher authority than such, and with the nonchalant attitude I wish her the best of luck on her not so new journey maybe she will get it right this next go round. We have a 3rd grader and 6th grader at Wheaton Christian. We have been part of this precious school…read morefamily for 4 years now. It has been a tremendous blessing to us. The environment is positive, friendly, open, caring, nurturing and fun. Our children love the school and their teachers. The administration is hands-on, they listen very well and often incorporate feedback from the parents. The academics and faculty are top-notch. The teachers help students reach their full potential everyday. The facilities are outstanding and well maintained. The maintenance team works so hard to keep everything clean and in great condition. Wheaton Christian also has a very nice selection of programs and sports to ensure a rich experience inside and outside the classroom. The love of Christ is at the heart of Wheaton Christian, and His love shines through this school everyday.

For me to drive again after my ordeal, the State requires me to attend a driving school…read more Strive for Independence was referred to me by my doctor, Shirley Ryan, and Northwestern Medicine. Heather, who I spoke to initially, provided me with great details about the program they offer. She was patient with my concerns and questions even after my initial phone call. Danielle, the Occupational Therapist, returned my calls with my follow-up of never-ending questions and concerns and was very kind. Check-in was a breeze. I then went through a series of cognitive, rules of the roads, and traffic signs tests before an actual road test. Danielle then accompanied me for a drive around the neighborhood. It irks me to walk around in my neighborhood and notice drivers fail to stop at the stop signs on residential streets. Therefore, I made sure I stopped completely and looked both ways before I proceeded. The drive took approximately 45 minutes before we returned to the office when she informed me of the good news. The office buildings have plenty of parking spaces available for students and visitors. The staff were professional and cordial. P. S. If you are reading my review, I pray you'll never have to go through what I went through the last few months. Here's to good health!

I would give 0 stars if I could. Strive for Independence is a terrible option for adapted driving…read more I had lots of issues with scheduling and the instructor Brandon. Lessons weren't scheduled in a timely fashion. Brandon didn't work with me to come up with a vehicle set up that I could safely drive with and was not open to trying different set ups. Brandon is also not very knowledgeable and made the recommendation that I don't continue driving. Fortunately, I was able to change companies and I got my driver's license after working with a more experienced instructor and using a completely different vehicle set up. After my evaluation, it was 3 months before my first lessons. After my first 10 hours driving, it was another 6 weeks before I had another lesson. Brandon had to cancel my last lesson and didn't make an effort to reschedule until I reached out 3 weeks later. At this point, I looked at other options. Brandon did not work well with me. He was calm during lessons, but that's the only good thing about him. Their were several issues with the vehicle that he didn't address that hurt my ability to drive. First, in their vehicle, I had to raise the seat of my powerchair to see over the steering wheel. This made me less stable when turning, so it made it harder to control the vehicle. Second, Brandon made a significant change to how my hand controls were set up. Instead of giving me time to adapt and learn it, he kept kept telling me "You need to be better and make more progress." Brandon became frustrated when I wasn't driving as well in my second lesson and didn't acknowledge the major change he implemented. Additionally, he never made a serious effort to place a vehicle control screen in a spot I could reach. I would not be able to independently drive without reaching those controls, so it's frustrating that he never tried to determine where it should go. All of these factors make me believe Brandon and Strive for Independence are not as committed to helping people drive as they want you to believe. After this, I changed companies and began working with the Master's Driving School in Wisconsin. The instructor was much better and had a better vehicle set up. At Master's, I had a single joystick that controlled gas, brake, and steering. This was much easier to control. Additionally, I didn't have to raise the seat of my chair to see over the steering wheel. This made me significantly more stable when turning. Master's also scheduled much faster than Strive for Independence did. I was able to get my driver's license working with them in less than 2 months after my first behind the wheel session.

Absolutely great for kids!…read more I can't comment on their adult programs, but we take both of our boys here and the instructors are fantastic. Super patient, but reinforcing discipline and great behaviors. And our kids are picking up karate very quickly with their guidance! Great place!
