This company is one of those travel deal scams…read more Received an email from Brittney, saying that I 'won 2 round trip airlines tickets through United Airlines and 3 days, 2 nights' hotel accommodations anywhere in the continental United States' and that 'There is no catch, no timeshares, no strings attached. You do not need to buy or join anything. The trip is yours!' BUT when I talked to her directly she mentioned that we would need to come to their Lombard, IL office and listen to their 1-hour presentation (red flag!) She also mentioned that the airfare & hotel is taken care of but we would need to pay the taxes (second red flag!) I looked up the company (formally Sentry Travel, etc.) and Brittney's phone number, which both turned up as bridal show 'scammer' reports. Beware!

If you go to that website, it looks exactly the same. Got an email claiming that I won a raffle for free air fare for two and 2 nights' hotel stay. Supposedly was automatically entered into the raffle by registering for a bridal show. Googled & yelped the company but found nothing. Then tried searching yelp for Global Travel... check out the reviews there. Total scam, don't waste your time. The email I was sent was totally shady and so is the website if you check it out...

Avoid this agency at ALL COST!!!! No one knew a group of 16…read morepeople were at Jeddah Airport waiting to be transported to Mekkah. Set there for 4 hours until I called and they asked which group and how many people. Arrvied at 2 AM in the morning, didn't leave Jeddah Airport till 11 AM. Got the Mekkah around 3 PM. When arrived we went to 3 different Hilton Hotels. The Hilton hotel (Clock Tower) that was promised never had our booking for the rooms. We end up staying at Hitlon Suites. When leaving Makkah to Madina agency told us be in the lobby at 9 AM, we will leave at 11 AM. Didn't leave till 3 PM. Arrived at Madina around 3 AM, went to 3 different hotels, non of them had our booking. The building that we stayed in Azizya did not have soap and toilet paper. The agency did not even tell us that we needed to bring our own soap and toilet paper. When leaving Azizya to Jeddah Airport the agency got us a private bus that only fit 13 people. When we arrived at the passport office to pick our passports the office was not giving out passports because it had to be a government bus drive that they can only give the passport to. After talking to them for a while they finally gave us the passport. At a check point the Police stopped the private bus, and told us we cannot go through this road because we were not in a government bus. After talking to the police officer they finally let us go because we were from the United States. When arrived at Jeddah Airport a legal document needs to be stamped because you can enter the airport which we did not know about. So took us about 2 hours to solve that issue. The private bus driver just gave us our passport and left. We had to figure it on our own. We did not have a group leader almost the entire stay. Until we left Madina and arrived at Azizya. The group leader was beyond lazy and wanted and took short cuts to do Hajj. We did not even have a religious leader to guide us. We had to do Umrah and Hajj from a book and contacting my local Masjids IN THE USA!!!. The religious leader met the group in Mina and only spoke Arabic, which we did not spoke Arabic. We paid $7000 per person and booked 7 months in advance and we were not taken care off at all. My wife's that went through a different agency paid a little less than us, had the best service. Please avoid this agency. I really want other Muslims to enjoy their Hajj.

However, when you look into this company, it's clear that there are many hidden fees (that may even end up costing you more than just buying the trip on your own). I googled the phone number that they used to call me and saw that a lot of people "won" this raffle and found out that it's just a scam.

I was recently contacted by a agent at Sentry Travel from an event I attended. I entered a raffle…read morefor a vacation and I actually won! I was a little leery at first, having been burned by a timeshare in my past. I previously spent an entire day of my vacation in Aruba listening to a sales pitch about condos and was not even allowed to get up to go to the bathroom becasue of the high pressure sales tactics! It was a total waste of my time and i never even got the free day of jet skis that I was promised!! So I told the agent at Sentry Travel about my previous experience and I asked her, I believe her name was Noel, what this really was and what I would have to pay. I was stunned to find out that this really is a travel agency. She told me that they are celebrating an anniversary and will be giving out as many trips that they can afford to spread the company name more. I thought this was an interesting way for a company to advertise but i'm not complaining! Noel told me that my husband and I was be responsible to pay the taxes, which ended up being $100 for our trip to San Antonio, not a problem at all!!! It was further explained that we would have 1 year to use the trip and that we couldn't travel on a major holiday. Then we were invited to come into the office to get the trip. Noel told us that when we were in the office we would learn about the company and their rates but that there were NO OBLIGATIONS whatsoever. i thought to myself well here's the catch i was waiting for.... but Noel explained that we will be leaving with the trip guaranteed and that Sentry is just looking for a chance to win us over as future customers but would not treat us any differently if we decided not to come back. I figured we have nothing to lose, lets give it a chance. So we went into Lombard and filled out some paperwork, then we sat down we some other couples and received information on the agencies daily activities. They had some really great deals!! It turns out that they are a wholesaler and that's why they advertise this way instead of commercials and such like retail travel agencies do. It was interesting and funny, overall entertaining. We stayed a while longer to talk to an agent about another family trip we were planning to HI and ended up only being there for about 2 hrs. We left with our trip and went home to start booking it. There were some processing fess but i later learned that the fees were deducted from the amount i owed in taxes. So we booked our trip to San Antonio in mid February. We stayed at a Hilton down there and it was beautiful!! All in all, i will definitely give Sentry a chance when i look to travel again and look forward to booking another family trip through them. Although, i was quite skeptical at first i'm glad i went through with it and got to enjoy this great trip for next to nothing!! Thanks Sentry!!

Some of my readers ask "why talk so much about yourself in your reviews?" to which I say "so what?"…read more a review is at best a photo from the mind of some unknown, likely flawed, or perhaps even in these days of AI not, human. Who's to say it's real or not? so instead of my usual iron-clad standard procedure of "cutting to the chase" or "getting down to the dozen" as sayings go, i'll just this once add some personal details, important as you'll see if you read that far. think of it as my way of assuring you MY reviews aren't from some artificial digital ersatz mentality. Nope, mine are from a decidedly flawed perhaps diseased but very human writer. pay attention, this is the good stuff! for dry, objective details skip the next paragraph. First, i'm entranced by a boundary. peering out over the west side railing of the gg bridge I wonder "what in the world is really out there?" maybe that's why, among less flippant reasons, i'm not much afraid of what comes next when you run out of days. i figure beyond that final boundary lies the biggest surprise in all existence. second, i'm both averse and adverse to groups meaning i'm ill-suited to tour travel, but you can't get to certain destinations alone. antarctica is such a one. third, i inherited my dna from germans and norwegians, so i like ice, snow and wind-chill. finally and quite frankly, I firmly believe ufos hide out in oceans, probably near the poles: i wanta see one. So it is that I felt compelled to travel to "el fin del mundo". now you know enough about your reviewer to properly gauge the content of what follows: I recently completed an antarctic "expedition" (carriers prefer this term to suggest high adventure rather than merely mundane luxury travel). if you plan such a trip, somewhere truly unusual, choose a high-end company like a&k, worthy of higher price. ships are small, fewer passengers. low-end tours on floating hotels only take you nearby, passengers can't disembark. Much of the trip, you sail on not-calm blue water; unless you're into self-abuse don't take an ice-breaker. the more recent the ship's vintage the more likely it will benefit from current technology that increases stability. my trip on a&k was excellent, aboard the good ship le lyrial: flagged by the french tour company Ponant, 500', 140 passengers, 139 crew. to be sure this came at no bargain, in fact I paid a similar sum to buy a car for my daughter a month before. while this kind of travel was one i'll not soon repeat, a good many of my fellow groupers had been on A/K tours to exotic destinations and planned more. this trip met my expectations, but most places i might go next, i'll just go: rent car, buy roadmap, turn off the "never-lost" gps... and i'm good. judging from the fine and dandy folks i met aboard le lyrial, this mode of travel would seem unnecessarily frugal, crude, perhaps even gauche, but for sure lacking, and in fact does, a certain vital level of service and accoutrements necessary to the requirements of those seeking more informed and gracious style of travel. i made a few friends on the trip, like of mind and spirit... but few they were indeed. luxury cruises will seem better or worse depending very much on the talents of the tour's crew and equipment. in this case the ship and its crew were supplied by Ponant, while the organizers of the activities were done by A&K. in many ways the quality of this AK experience was as much due to Ponant as it was to A&K. both groups were excellent in their service and worked together seamlessly. ponant provided for those "sailing" the ship, operating the machinery and all that. equally well done was the kitchen staff, always cooking up something fresh despite the fact that we were 3 weeks out. tasty, with a french touch here and there (bangers 'n mash for Brit breakfast), but while plentiful and ever available, I hate to report that the wines failed to match the menu. the excursions onto islands and mainland antarctica were lead by a/k experts, with a steady hand on the tiller of those terribly unstable zodiac rubber raftboats. plenty of gear was required to stay dry and warm enough, and when you were done frollicking on ice and snow hours of fun at the bar remained. lots of dandy folks were along for the ride, mostly well-heeled types from coastal cities in the country they lived. most common topic initially was: "why are you doing this?" and most common reason given was holding up 7 fingers, meaning this was the seventh continent to visit, as part of a bucket list, a bit lame but ok. it came as no shock to me then, that when asked why i was aboard i got such uncomfortable stares. So I simply decided not to extend an invitation to join me on my veranda at night. For there, surely enough you'd often find me, clocking the dark depths, perusing boundaries, hoping to spot a ufo emerging from the frigid antarctic waters... as I firmly believe they do. Spend $35 grand filling your bucket... i'll do mine.

My wife loved the trip to India. This was my second trip to India going with Odyssey Unlimited for…read morethe first trip. Odyssey is almost half the price and while a few of the hotels were not as good and there was more bus transportation, overall the trip was far superior. The problem with the Abercrombie and Kent trip started at the beginning when I wanted to an extra night at the first hotel as we were arriving at 5:00 AM. Abercrombie wanted exactly double the price for that night as what was listed on the hotel website. Overall a few of the stops were ridiculous like the " Bollywood experience " where you go to a dance studio and you see some schmuck dancing. The pace was grindingly slow, sometimes barely getting 3000 steps a day. The guide was adequate but not great. Hotels very, very nice but overall Abercrombie was not worth the money. The other travelers on the trip were great and we loved the group. India is a fabulous trip but A&K is just not a good value if you are active.
