We had over a dozen wines during a tasting and each one stood on its own. Each one was exactly as described and had its own individual taste profile and wonderful complexity. A flight of 6 1-oz pours for around $7. I was not expecting much at that price. What I got was complex wines, fully mature and exceptionally balanced. Single grape or multiple blends . Some un-oaked. Some finished in bourbon barrels. A full page of dry or semi dry reds and whites. And a full page of fruity wines. While some were sweet, I never felt that sugar was the main profile. I was shocked the Rhubarb wine was a fav- tasty, tart, and sweet all at one time. Liberty was a combination of 3 reds finished in bourbon barrels. Surprisingly complex with a wonderful finish . And I surprised myself when I brought home a bottle of Apple Pie. Notes of cinnamon and nutmeg. I'm going to pair it with a special dinner built around this bottle. I'm as surprised as you are. They also have a very solid Bourbon list with tastings fairly priced. Yup. A Winery that offers solid bourbons not normally available at most other bars. Our hostess was Hope. He gave us a choice of what we would like to taste and we started with a concord, white, red, and a white. They were delightful and Levi was delightful. Then the owner Dan showed up and suggested an American Reliance and Norton Table Wine. All were delicious and we purchased a total of 8 bottles of the various wines. The working farm is a site to see and with horses, sheep, and goats. Dan is a working veterinarian that produces wine as a large hobby. In the middle of farming country this was a pleasant surprise.

Things got a little better and the two wines that are actually under their name/label were surprisingly delicious! Anyway, we were driving back to Louisville from Nashville and the Fella filled me with joy when he said we could stop at a couple wineries on the way. Not only is it a great way to break up the monotonous drive, but it allowed me to try more Kentucky wineries (like a Pokemon, I wanna try 'em all!). Cave Valley Winery was the right distance between the first place we stopped and getting home, so we decided this would be our final boozy-stop on the way. It is easy to get to, just a small loop off the highway at the Park City exit. It was a strange first impression when we got there, though. The winery isn't so much a winery, as it is a room inside an old hotel that also operates as the site's regular bar. They were also getting ready for a Ladies' Shooting competition to be held on the weekend, there were lots of gun signs and promotional booths and tents set up and sponsor banners. We weren't initially sure that we were at the right place...maybe some of the banners were covering the winery sign? Also...guns and alcohol...what could go wrong, amirite? It was strange. When we walked in to the bar, there were two people futzing around with the register iPad and a printer. It took a bit before we were greeted, and when we were, they both mentioned that they were not the tasting host and would go get her. While she was being retrieved, we were able to look over the wine list and the woman at the bar got us started with our first sample, though she admitted she didn't really know anything about the wines. Once the usual wine tasting host, Amber, came in we were ready to lock and load. (Get it...because of the gun range...no? Ok.) You get 5 samples for $5. But be aware, they only have TWO wines under their own label. The two they have are surprisingly delicious, if I do say so myself. As for the rest of the two-page wine list, they are all wines from Wight-Meyer, which is not one of my favorite places either. So that was a little disappointing. And they were out of a few of the wines I wanted to taste. Amber was pretty alright though, with some information on tasting notes. But she was minutes from the end of her shift and asked that we close out right away. Which was fine, we needed to get on the road again anyway. Overall, I am conflicted. It was a weird experience, but their wines are decent and once Amber got to our tasting, all was well. But temper your expectations if you are a winery-hopper like me. (If I was feeling more generous, I would give another star just for all the puppers roaming about....but really, 3 stars is where its at.)

We tried several wines and ended up choosing two bottles that we loved. The Governor's Red and a Merlot. The winery has some great things to choose from outside of wine. I snagged some cheeses, wine salt, and trinkets. The vineyard is beautiful and very picturesque. Lots of picnic benches to sit on and eat or sip your wine. Will definitely be back with our picnic table cover and to catch the live music. Highly recommend for a date or a day trip. If you come on a day where the food trucks or aren't available, pack a charcuterie box or picnic bag, a little Bluetooth speaker and grab a bottle of wine to enjoy outside. The garden ceremony area was expansive with the sun shining over the fields. The setting made the perfect backdrop for the couple's photos, complete with wildlife in the background. After a lovely ceremony, we enjoyed cocktail hour and then moved into the reception space, which was exactly what this couple had dreamed of. The band played, and we danced the night away. Just note there's no air conditioning in the reception barn, but there are very large fans. Long Hollow Gardens & Vineyards was the perfect venue for this Bride and Grooms dream wedding. It will always hold a special place in our hearts.

We bought General Entry tickets & wildflower picking tickets online a few weeks in advance. When we got to the gardens they asked for our names and directed us to park. Once inside we stopped over a the bar for a wine tasting - all of the wines are made in Tennessee on property - and bought 2 bottles for us to enjoy throughout the night. We also checked in for wildflower picking at the bar and were given glass jars to fill with flowers. The staff was very kind and helpful during that process. I also thoroughly enjoyed the free strawberry lemonade and regular lemonade that they provided guests, though some of my friends thought it was too sweet! Our one mistake was not going to pick flowers earlier in the night. We started when the sun was setting, but the area was so large that it was dark by the time we were finished. It was also the last week for wildflower picking, so there weren't as many left available as I imagine there is earlier in the month. We also ordered pasta from Pasta Gailfi, a food truck that was on site and enjoyed it at our table. If I were to do it over again, I would also bring our own food and a deck of cards or a board game for us to enjoy as well! The venue was stunning, and I imagine it acts as a beautiful wedding venue as well.
