So, I've had a shaved head for the past 5 years. Before then, I'd just go to those cheap $5 haircut places and get the generic mens cut ha. I've been growing it out for over 2 months now, and got to the point where I needed to do something with it. I e-mailed Tim, let him know of my situation and that I really had no idea what I wanted to do with my hair, and we set an appointment. The salon is pretty cool, looks like they turned a nice little Uptown house into a salon. I showed him a few pictures on my phone I pulled off the internet of certain hairstyles I'd like to emulate, and we were on the same page. Shampoo, haircut, shampoo, and style. For a guy who's been shaving his own head for the past 5 years, this was a different experience for me ha. Love the way it turned out, Tim really knows what he's doing. I set an appointment for Thursday, got my days confused, and showed up at the appointment time, but on Tuesday. Manuel greeted me, and saw that I was having a hair emergency from a really bad haircut that I got a at a place that I won't mention. I was 99% certain that nothing could be done to save that haircut. My hair had been shaved noticeably shorter, almost an inch higher on one side than the other, making my hair look lopsided. I like to style it combed back sometimes, sometimes messy, and sometimes parted. I just knew he was going to tell me there was nothing we could do. Especially considering that I didn't have an appointment. I'm not sure how he did it, but he had me sit down in his chair, and 20 minutes later had my hair looking fantastic. I know it's impossible, but it does look like the hair that was cut too short was made longer. He said he just needed to "balance" it, but I had no idea that "balance it" was code that means "Manuel can work miracles". Even if that hair isn't really any longer than it was, trust me, "Manuel can work miracles" - it looks great now! read more

Robert Dijas, This is Reg, the old guy with the white hair. Sorry that I haven't been able to get back to you before now, but I've just been really busy. Just wanted to say that you probably gave me the best haircut that I've ever had. They all look good when I'm sitting in the barber chair, but I'm often disappointed when I see the results after I shampoo it at home. This time, however, it fell right into place and indeed didn't even need to be brushed! Running my fingers through my hair was all it took to put it perfectly in place, and that's NEVER happened before. Also, when you asked if I wanted my eyebrows trimmed, I was expecting you to do that with a comb and scissors, which is how everyone else has always done it. I was really surprised when you just ran a clipper through them and was really wondering what they were going to look like at that point. Again, fortunately, they turned out fine. Overall, I couldn't be happier, and will definitely be back. read more

I could not get a stylist in Dallas to touch my hair, or to at least say they could get me to blonde for less than $600 or 9 hours in the chair. I had given up hope until someone recommended Manuel to me. In the evaluation visit he seemed more excited than me to see it done- that's how i knew i could trust him. He had no hesitation. I came in two weeks later and in 2.5 hours exactly he had cut and colored my hair. Total transformation. I had my expectations set to maybe a sandy blonde, but i was blown away. Platinum blonde in 2.5 hours and no damage. Absolute genius! He was so kind, personable, and encouraging. My girlfriend immediately booked an appointment the next week to get her hair done. It makes a world of difference when you know you can trust someone with your hair 100% and when they won't just flat out tell you "no". I moved to Dallas almost a year ago, and its taken this long for me to find Travis Salon Uptown. As a guy, we usually get the shaft when it comes to haircuts. Not as much hair, don't do the highlights, and longer periods of time between appointments means we usually get a shoddy haircut (even if they charge an outrageous amount for it). No more sirs! Travis Salon is a small cozy salon that carries Bumble and Bumble products (which smell amazing) and gives quality haircuts for cheaper than any of the other "salons" i've been to. It's not supercuts, that's for sure! Tim is an excellent stylist, and knows what he's doing to a T. Here's hoping I can reproduce what he fashioned with my hair. read more

I am very picky when it comes to who cuts my hair. I have had nightmares in the past but this place exceeded my expectations. I had just moved to Dallas and needed a haircut. I read the previous Yelp reviews and decided to give this place a shot. It is a house that has been turned into a salon and it is very cozy. The stylists are very friendly and the price is very reasonable for a great hair cut! The person who previously cut my hair botched it completely and I needed someone to fix it. I made an appointment with Tim and he was able to fix my hair. Also, I have a calic so it makes my hair hard to part. He is the first hair stylist that suggested parting on the opposite side. My regular salon couldn't get me in for weeks, so I turned to Yelp to find a good backup for men's cuts. Enter Travis Salon. I'm so impressed that this backup has just become my new regular stylist. I really like the relaxed, no stress vibe at Tim's salon, and the professionalism. If my appointment is for 11:30 and I show up at 11:30 - he is ready for me. Travis Salon had great reviews and now I know why. I called and spoke to Tim Travis who was booked solid until next week. He referred me to Manuel. WAY overdue-sorry guys! Ok so first of all, Robert cut my hair into the most edgy shag/bob ever. Once I put some type of root pump in there or whatever-looks just like how I wanted it. Mind you-not many people can cut hair and I will not book with women usually because if they are having a bad day they will mess up your whole head. Robert is super friendly, interesting, and so smart about everything you could think of-wow! Manual colored my hair beautifully and just how I wanted it. Moving from Cali, I had a great stylist....then I met Sibel and had my hair cut at this cute, quaint cottage salon. The ambiance is comfortable, great music flowing sets the tone along with the fav Bumble and Bumble product. Sibel gives great advice on how to style yourself and is a professional in every way....even giving great pointers on personal fashion and life in general. Had an excellent experience here. Needed a quick cut for a semi-formal event in Dallas. Tim fit me in with one days' notice and made me look, exactly as requested, like a candidate for congress. He definitely loves his products and juiced my hair up so that I smelled a bit like an over-exuberant flower but when the gunk was gone the quality of the cut remained. He's also mostly a shears man and only used the clippers for trim work. He wipes away hairs from the neck throughout the cut and gives a very thorough post-cut shampooing, so that even later that day I could find no stray hairs on my neck, in my ears or on my back, which is kind of amazing. I might fly back to Dallas just to get my hair cut there again. read more
