I like the books, the ambience and the delightful smell of oils, soaps, and incense, The staff is wonderful: knowledgeable, friendly, and generous with their presence. I appreciate that. The massive crystals are remarkable in their beauty and size. I'm always intrigued by amethyst and ALT delivers as much as it delights. I'll always return.

My go to a lot of the time is vinyl records. While they did have a decent selection it was small. What I loved the most was the furniture pieces. I was bummed to not have brought my truck to lug a few pieces home. Service was ok, but nothing to write home about. Besides a hello when we entered that was it. Prices are great I think. So many beautiful things to take home or give as gifts.

I found a nice coat upstairs, where the junkier clothes are, these are the ones that are half off. There was no price on it, just like everything else upstairs, no prices on anything. So, I checked the wall, where they have a price list. The list on the wall said, COATS $10. So, it's half off day, $5. I take my find to the counter, Aaron says, "$20." I said, no, that came from upstairs, it says $10, so it's $5 today. He says no, people remove the tags, and I make the prices and it is supposed to be $20. I said I am not psychic, that's why I read what the price was, I only have the $5 bill, so I was going to go ahead and buy it anyway for $10, on my card, until Aaron said "It's called reading, you should try it". I said I did read, the sign says $10, it should be $5 for half off day. He made another jab about me "reading" and I said Nevermind, and left without the coat. Aaron is rude. Preferred customers get better prices. They get this stuff as free donations. They can't even go by the posted price list if Aaron's at the counter, the price will be whatever he feels he should inflate it to. This store is not good. Donate to the other DAV, on Gurley, they are very nice, and prices are way better.

A PC repair shop 2. A record store (LPs and 45s); and 3. An audio equipment shop. The latter has tube gear, but also a bunch of Yamaha gear. Don't know what so special about the latter, maybe they are some models that have some audiophile appeal. The loudspeakers are mostly Elac, but only the passive ones. They don't offer the active/wifi Elac line. Also some amazingly expensive ($1000 - $3000) headphones. A lot of them are from the Focal brand (but no speakers, just headphones from that line). So if you're an anachrophile, this should be a good place for you. I myself prefer 21st century audio (ethernet cable in, sound out), so I did not get anything here, but I think they've carved out a nice niche for folks who are into tubes and vinyl. So this local shop is the same as these days you will find in Phoenix: The only audio shops are ones which deal in tubes + vinyl. Near as I can determine, there are no audio dealers in Phoenix which would be good for transistorized equipment.

I visited the vinyl store with my wife since it is the only one in the greater Cottonwood/Sedona/VOC area. Even though my wife and I are mostly alt/metal core listeners, my wife is also a big Swiftie and there are exclusive drops at record stores for Record Store Day. My issue is with the way customers are treated at this store. When my wife asked what drops were coming in this month, she received a very curt response from the girl at the front desk saying they are not allowed to discuss what is coming into the store. Weird, but okay. She asked my wife to tell her what she was looking for so she could contact her if they received it. When my wife told her it was a Taylor Swift album, she basically laughed in her face and said they would never carry Taylor Swift there, making my wife feel judged and stupid for even asking. It is unfortunate that this employee chose to not only judge my wife for her taste in music but also decided to be really rude about it. I get that the store has more of a metal/alt aesthetic and they are allowed to carry whatever they want, but treating customers like they are lesser for liking different music is just really dumb and in my opinion pretty against the art form entirely, especially when it comes to punk/metal/alt/goth genres. Customer service should not be hostile to the people walking through your door. We obviously will not be going back, which really sucks because as vinyl collectors we would love to support the business. Vinyl stores are so rare nowadays, but if they are going to judge you based on what you listen to and be crappy to your face about it, we do not want to be supporting this place anyway. I went by ALT while I was in Sedona visiting for Spring break. I am a big record collector, and I…read morewas determined to find some records to dig through while visiting. I was pleasantly surprised to find that there were stacks and stacks of records that had not been gone through hundreds of times and all of the good titles weeded out. I found some great gems to add to my collection. There were plenty that I could not get to on the bottoms of bookshelves blocked in with newly added art and I still walked away with many hard to find titles in great shape. I wish I had more time to spend as I would have left with more. I even left a Bowie record behind accidentally and Mark went out of his way to ship it back to Atlanta for me. I can't say enough about Mark, his store, and the way he runs his business. Can't wait to go back on my next visit to Sedona! - Derek

He was super knowledgeable on the collection and very friendly; especially considering that we walked in post-hike not looking like serious art buyers ;) My husband and I really loved a few of the prints and are hoping to save up a bit of $$ to make a purchase in the near future.
