Indeed, there's a sweet story behind the name that you should ask about when you visit. Their prices are average to low, depending on what you're buying. The selection of books and records is massive, well-organized, and really cheap (25 cent paperbacks, 50 cent hardcovers). They have average clothing prices, and a wide selection of sizes. I only had 45 minutes or so to poke around, but I could have spent hours! I ended up with a couple books and a set of ceramic coasters. Worth a look!

The head honchos at the DAV all know about Aaron and his wonderful work at the register, over charging people for things that are marked less and his absolutely rude attitude towards some people. They do not mind. They don't mind if a man is rude to countless people, rips off hundreds and hundreds of people for years and years, as long as they keep pulling in those dollars to keep those recovery people coming in and working the thrift store, they do not care how badly Aaron treats their paying customers. Or if he is charging the prices that are posted. I'd be willing to bet dollars to doughnuts that if a woman acted the way Aaron does to customers, she would have been FIRED years ago. The fact that there has been SO many complaints about him for years and years, and not one disciplinary action has been taken, shows his behavior is ALL FINE AND GOOD. He deserves a paycheck, and security in his job, because..... he's ...a man? What could be the reason he still has this job, and nothing about his attitude changes? He has a customer service job, and is FAILING MISERABLY at it. BOTH DAV stores suck because of the upper management. Shop and donate elsewhere.

It's a little away from the center square but this place immediately felt inviting as l walked in. It has a lot of Native American/Southwest style jewelry and many preloved pieces. It really was a feast for my eyes. And l found a lovely bracelet to take home with me as a souvenir of Prescott. They also have a lot of antique home items and some furniture too. A PC repair shop 2. A record store (LPs and 45s); and 3. An audio equipment shop. The latter has tube gear, but also a bunch of Yamaha gear. Don't know what so special about the latter, maybe they are some models that have some audiophile appeal. The loudspeakers are mostly Elac, but only the passive ones. They don't offer the active/wifi Elac line. Also some amazingly expensive ($1000 - $3000) headphones. A lot of them are from the Focal brand (but no speakers, just headphones from that line). So if you're an anachrophile, this should be a good place for you. I myself prefer 21st century audio (ethernet cable in, sound out), so I did not get anything here, but I think they've carved out a nice niche for folks who are into tubes and vinyl. So this local shop is the same as these days you will find in Phoenix: The only audio shops are ones which deal in tubes + vinyl. Near as I can determine, there are no audio dealers in Phoenix which would be good for transistorized equipment.

The record store has a wide selection of vinyls of specific genres. It's clean and inviting. You can listen to records if you'd like and they can ship to your home if needed. There is the famous Puscifer statue, where people from all around the world leave offerings. It's worth a visit. Attached to it is the cafe. I appreciate the opportunity to eat good breakfast food in the middle of the afternoon and my friend had the kimchi ramen, which was delicious too. We ate outside on the patio, which was serene. The staff was friendly. Easy to find street parking, too!

I ordered their Shoyu ramen, which, per their menu, is a... rich soy chicken broth that comes with pork belly chashu, local mushrooms, bok choy, bamboo shoots, spring onion, and a soft-boiled egg. I chose not to have the pork belly chashu and asked them to add an extra egg. As soon as it came out, it looked really good, but unfortunately, it had zero flavor! I even added some spicy chili oil, and it didn't help the flavor at all. IMO - Ramen stock should be so rich and so full of flavor that it becomes the star of the dish, but unfortunately, this ramen really fell short. Our server was great when I let her know and offered to bring me something else, which I appreciated, but honestly, I really didn't want to try anything else at that point. However, my husband's dish was pretty tasty. He ordered the Four Eight spicy chicken sandwich, which is served on a fresh biscuit, with a spicy honey drizzle and a side of fries! I was pleasantly surprised to find that there were stacks and stacks of records that had not been gone through hundreds of times and all of the good titles weeded out. I found some great gems to add to my collection. There were plenty that I could not get to on the bottoms of bookshelves blocked in with newly added art and I still walked away with many hard to find titles in great shape. I wish I had more time to spend as I would have left with more. I even left a Bowie record behind accidentally and Mark went out of his way to ship it back to Atlanta for me.
