So, I go shopping. I have seen the ads for Bray & Scarff, and was checking them against the Big Box stores. A tad higher, but they said they'll match pricing. I call, get a very nice sales lady, Tiffany, just to get pricing, but she was so efficient, friendly, and quickly matched the Lowes pricing, that I started an order estimate (which she emailed me so I could see a clear bottom line cost). She had matched Lowes and Home Depot. Delivery and take away was the same, but then she told me their delivery people were in-house, not contractors. And she could get the ones I picked out delivered the next day as they had them in stock. So before I knew it, the order is placed and paid for. I had saved some time, and had to head out any way, so I stopped in and chatted with her. Excellent shpowroom. No fancy set-ups, but clean, well organized displays of appliances. Anyway, By later in the early evening, they had a delivery time of 11:30 am to 3:30 pm. This morning (delivery day is today, 6/16/2026), checking emails, at 11:04am, I got an email, said they'd be here in 7 minutes! The delivery men were here early! How often does THAT happen? Only 15 minutes, but still. Delivery was handled by 3 men, and working as a team, had it in and running in a half hour, no dents, scratches, perfectly balanced and placed, and they even test ran them. Excellent service start to finish. Yelp needs a way to give a PLUS to a review. These folks are well above a 5 Star company.

A Legacy Brand Losing Its Touch…read more For nearly a quarter century, we have been loyal customers--every major appliance in our home bears this company's name. Once a symbol of reliability and craftsmanship, its service arm has, regrettably, become a study in decline. Each year seems to bring a new low in professionalism. Service appointments are routinely canceled at the last minute, leaving customers stranded in the scheduling void. The technician assigned to our area, in particular, has redefined discourtesy--arriving unprepared, dismissive, and often unhygienic. Shoe coverings, once a simple mark of respect for the household, are flatly refused. When asked for explanations or details about repairs, responses come laced with impatience or outright rudeness. It is disheartening to witness a brand once associated with trust erode so steadily at the hands of its own representatives. After decades of loyalty, we are left to wonder whether the company remembers what service once meant--or if it now believes its long-time customers will simply tolerate neglect disguised as business as usual.

Shlomo was patient and offered his input as we figured out what design and materials we wanted. His team was able to move an outlet, build and install the shelving and cabinets, and mount the TV. We are very happy with how it turned out! Just a note that they specialize in custom work and keep a busy calendar so it may take some months from start to finish. Our project took even longer due to holidays and other work being done at our house. The price was higher than other companies we got quotes from due to the custom work but we felt it was well worth the quality!

From the moment we reached out, Shlomo was prompt, responsive, and understanding of first-time homeowners on their first project. Shlomo came to our house and walked through with me the two concepts I had in mind. He asked key questions that helped better shape the ideas, took the necessary measurements, then followed up in short order with a clear proposal and quote. The pricing was competitive and within our budget. Once we decided to move forward, the team delivered on the carpentry faster than we expected. Max and the team who did the carpentry were friendly and understanding of two tired parents who had to work in the house through the day. The work they performed was impeccable. The final product? 1) Built-in bookshelves with a table-height counter and drawers below: a showstopper and the new centerpiece of our living room; and 2) a ceiling-high pantry cabinet in our kitchen, attached to a new counter with a built-in garbage/recycling drawer. We are thrilled with the quality of these pieces, which have truly made our new home our own. If you are looking for cabinetry work in the DC-area, we unequivocally recommend you go with "As It Should Be." They will do great work for you.

The other contractors just didn't feel right. Most wanted to replace my cabinets all together. Ray was very careful with my property. He taped off everything and routed air through the window to remove all dust. He removed my cabinets doors and took them to his shop. My kitchen was very dark. You can't tell what it used to be. Ray and his team were very efficient and on time. The work took one week. I neglected to read my contract carefully. The contract says all fees due in full before delivery meaning before Ray brings your doors and new countertop for installation, any balance must be paid in full. You pay in full beforehand. The new door and new countertop install is the last step and only takes a day. I was concerned about paying in full before the last step was complete and I voiced that concern. Luckily, Ray is a man of integrity and all went well! Ray even installed a wood base at the bottom of one of my cabinets because the bottom of that cabinet was ruined. My dog had bit an end of my cabinet and you can no longer tell. Ray removed any signs of wear or tear in my cabinets. Ray also left behind the paint color of the new cabinets in case I scratched or mistakenly damaged something. Ray's office manager was very professional and his showroom is very clean. They have a large selection of granite, quartz, colors, etc. Everyone on Ray's team was very professional, friendly, nice and knowledgeable. Ray has a very direct pricing model that does not include haggling or negotiation. He does not negotiate his pricing. He simply puts his best pricing forward. This saves so much time! I appreciate that.

The thing I remember most about that first meeting was the personalized board they had up welcoming me and my spouse (Mr. and Mrs. D) - a really nice touch, albeit slightly incorrect as I was there with my husband, and when we went back to pick out selections they had updated it to be somewhat more accurate (The D. Family). Jim, the owner, was straightforward when we spoke with him and offered a competitive price compared to the other estimates we received. After we accepted the contract, Jim's sister and the company designer, Kim, was particularly patient with us as we spent upwards of two hours picking out the various components for the new bathroom, successfully finding solutions to mediate style disagreements between me and my husband. Overall, we were both very happy with our selections and excited for the new bathroom to be complete. The workers were excellent and displayed great professionalism during the remodel. The work began in early December, but was stalled a little bit due to the cabinet and vanity not arriving in time. The bathroom was functional, though not finished, before the desired Christmas date. It has been three weeks since the job completed and we have been satisfied so far with the bathroom. With the work, there were two (both immediately fixed) problems that stood out: First, the new toilet was installed slightly at an angle. We emailed Cardigan of the problem. When they came out the next time to continue working on the bathroom, the worker immediately saw the toilet was not level, apologized that he didn't catch it when he installed it, and made the toilet level to the floor. Second, when we started using the shower a week after installation, the shower was draining extremely slowly. Again, I emailed and called regarding this issue, and they fixed it that day despite Jim attending a funeral that morning. One of the workers came by that evening with a snake and fixed the problem. I was extremely impressed at their responsiveness. Overall, I am giving five stars due to the personalization, work quality, responsiveness, professionalism of the workers, and our happiness with the final result. When we finally move on to remodeling our kitchen in a few years, we will definitely be looking at Cardigan. The attached pictures include a picture of the shower before the bathroom was painted, and a picture of the other side of the bathroom after all of the work was completed.

Even the major stone dealers have primarily full slabs, and they will not cut off a small piece for you! (This is not a knock on those businesses, it's just the way the business operates.) Most places will have some "remnants" around, but there's a good chance that most of them will be fairly plain, or just not the piece of your dreams. That is why, if you are looking for plenty of choices for your smaller project, you should not waste your time - you should go DIRECTLY to "Remnant Yard," which has an amazing selection of . . .stone remnants!! This company is not a big operation, though they also do plenty of standard work. But their selection of stone remnants, which is mostly outside, is unbelievably diverse! Within a few minutes we found three different pieces we loved, and Mo (the owner) personally helped us choose the right one for us; he is very knowledgeable and VERY patient, and the piece we chose will knock the socks off everyone who uses our powder room.
