This is such a COOL ride! It's so well made and was run very efficiently. Not only do you have the screens to shoot at, but there are also physical objects that will move when you shoot at them. Some even shoot you with water! There were also a few animatronics that were genuinely impressive. The pre-show is a little long, but it is so well done and I love the commitment to details. $20 seems like a steep price for a dark ride/shooting game, but you can ride as many times as you would like. (It seemed like most participants were not taking advantage of this but I went on a few times). I would definitely go back on a day when I had more time and see how many times I could get on the ride. In my opinion you do not need to pay $3 for the power chip upgrade. The highest score possible is 999,999 points. With the regular shooter we easily got 600,000 and 700,000 points on our second go around. read more

Cool ride with an added bonus feature (shoot at target for points) - the beginning is cheesy but bear through it for the ride. There were only 3 of us... probably better with a larger group. This ride was fun! We are 71 and 67, had our 2 granddaughters (17 & 18) as well. They rolled their eyes when I suggested it. The greeter was hilarious in her Pirate costume. The ride is a mini version is something like a Disney ride. You're in a cart type and each seat is equipped a gun. You're going through a cavern, and have to shoot and things with a cross or any treasures. You're score in right in front of you. The cart spins several times like a roller coaster. It's not long, but it was fun! At the end, they will show a score and your face. You have to have your phone/camera to take a pic of standings because they don't offer a picture. The ride was about $18.00. Not sure, but I believe you can ride it all day long on the day you bought a ticket. We enjoyed it even at our age! The girls ended up liking it too. If you're bored shopping, hop on in and go for a fun little ride. read more

Ok, first things first, I am an adult male over 60 years old, and I am most certainly not the target audience for this ride. But I like pirates, what can I say? I was visiting Monterey with my two adult daughters and we unexpectedly happened upon this ride/attraction on Cannery Row. We had to try it. So Treasure Hunt: the ride is a Pirate themed shooting ride with both practical sets and screens to aim at. For an attraction in this location, the theming of the ride was really quite good. And the cast members had a sweet sense of fun during the elaborate pre-show. The 10 year old kids loved this attraction!! They were just a tiny bit scared, wide eyed by the atmospheric sets, and enjoyed blasting anything with an "x" marking the spot. There is a story of some kind, but I couldn't really follow it, and it doesn't matter. It wasn't crowded when we rode. It put a silly grin on my face. To me that's a success. read more

This is a rare amusement park dark ride in the little town of Monterey. I've always been curious. Finally got a chance to check it out on Wednesday afternoon, a party of two without any kids. I didn't expect much. But the pirate-themed attraction ended up being pretty decent. The vehicle movement and element of shooting targets to earn a score was reminiscent of Buzz Lightyear Astro Blasters at Disneyland. And the sets and decor were similar to the Pirates of the Caribbean ride, except you're not floating in water and there are no Disney characters here, only skeletons displayed in various scenes. The experience is actually based on real history, the story of pirate and captain, Hippolyte Bouchard. Guests are treasure hunters in this brief adventure. There's nothing scary about the ride so it's definitely kid-friendly, and the Disneyland quality makes it enjoyable for all ages, especially without Disneyland wait times (we were only in line for about ten minutes that afternoon). read more

I absolutely loved this attraction! It was a beautifully designed dark ride and shooting gallery attraction that combined screens and lots of practical effects - plus some animatronic figures! Matt told me the whole story about how TH was designed by a former Disney Imagineer which made it all make sense - the detail and immersion are great! I rode it 3 times with my family and I would have continued to ride if we didn't have to be somewhere that afternoon. The all-day passes are really worthwhile. The staff are really terrific and so helpful. We came by the night before about an hour before closing and the operator suggested that if we could come back the next day it would be a better value for our money so we could ride multiple times throughout the day. The ride operators were so friendly and took our picture in the ride vehicles. They chatted with us and were just so nice. We had our dog with us so they were also really accommodating in letting us switch off riders so someone could always sit outside with the pup. The next time we are in Monterey we will definitely go back to Treasure Hunt. We decided to do this ride and glad we did. It reminded me of Toy Story's ride at Disneyland because you shoot at the screen to earn points. My 8 year old daughter was nervous because she thought it would be a scary ride, but not at all. The staff were very friendly and nice. It was entertaining from beginning to end. For $19.99 per person, you can get a stamp and ride the ride as many times as you want that day. She forgot to give us the stamp, lol. There was a brochure and inside was a page that if you present it you will get a free gift. But she had no idea what that gift was and she wasn't aware of the page so she just gave the kids an upgrade token (to earn more points) which was fine with me. I love how the staff was into their roles and made it fun and exciting for my kids. A little pricey but well worth the experience. read more

The family and I had so much fun on this ride! Very interactive and fun story telling. This ride keeps you engaged the entire time. We did ride the ride four times so I think that's a really cool element about the experience as your ticket includes unlimited rides. Took our toddler on the ride to try something new. Must admit the animatronic pirate above the entry looks almost lifelike. My expectations were low from an adult experience approach and in the end the price seemed high for the overall experience by the end but probably worth trying atleast once. I feel as though this would be better enjoyed by the 7-16 age group. They will upsell you on the token purchase and for kids it's probably worth it. Adults not so much. The staff appear to do their best to get in character for the experience. The overall experience is predicated on some likely fabricated Monterey lore with a spattering of pirates and a town drunk for good measure. Parking is difficult on a weekend and will almost require you to use a parking structure that requires a full day parking with no in and out privileges. Location is center of Cannery Row. read more

So much fun! Went with my older parents and adult son and daughter. We all had a blast. I have to say the staff are just incredible and super kind, friendly and attentive. They helped my mom in her wheelchair and my dad with his cane. They spoke so cutely to my mom (who loves attention) and (Myles I think) even bought out a treasure chest of prizes for her to choose from. She got a kick out of that. Noticed the attraction when I was in town for the aquarium. It has its appeal. The staffs and the storyline for the ride is awesome. However, in total I spent $45 for two tickets, the ride was short, slow moving, the gun I had was old and jammed a few time. It was definitely not worth the amount of money I spent on the ride. Overall, the advertisement made it seem like I was going through a cool cavern of caves in a thrilling rollercoaster. I was riding in a cart under a basement as most. Animatronics were great, and the theming and props were top notch. I love immersive experiences and everyone who worked there went above and beyond for safety and instructions for both times we went on the ride. First time we went through I had really high expectations for a more "ride" type with maybe a little hill or a dip on the cart but unfortunately it all stays pretty much flat and while on the cart you go through different "rooms" to shoot and gain points. Not everyone had equal guns that shot straight so our scores were all over the place which made it frustrating to see if it was accurate or not. Both of my kiddos had an ok time (ages 8 and 10) but we immediately said "That's it?" when the ride stopped. Way too short. We went again and were able to go right on the ride and didn't have to wait for the pre show or "elevator" again. Same issue with guns not being accurate and not firing where you pointed. Seems really steep in price even with the ability to go multiple times because it's just a glorified shooting game with a 15min animatronic pre show. Wanted a tine bit of a thrill ride and left feeling like we got scammed. read more
