Open Hands Senior Care provided much needed assistance for my parents and helped us keep my dad at home for the last months of his life. The decision to bring outside help into my previously independent parents' home was difficult for us. At that point, my dad had mobility issues that were making caring for him too physically demanding for my mom. From our initial contact, owner Kristen was a great resource and made us feel comfortable with this transition. As a healthcare professional herself, her experience and obvious compassion reassured us that this was absolutely the right thing for them. Though staffing with many agencies can be an issue, they were able to begin immediately, with Kristen providing care as needed until one of her staff was able to consistently help. Connie was a wonderful care giver for my dad, as well as a source of emotional support for my mom, and I am so thankful for the relationship we developed over time. Kristen's phone calls and occasional visits, sometimes with flowers in hand, brightened their days and were also appreciated. Both women were able to give that special blend of care that is both professional and personal, practical as well as kind. At the end, the decision to bring my dad home from the hospital for his final days was easy, but the idea of providing all of his care was completely overwhelming. Hospice care offers a very limited presence, and as things became more difficult, Connie's help with my dad's physical needs and the support and kindness she showed to us were invaluable. I cannot fully express how thankful I am that we had built relationships over the previous months and had these women to lean on during that time. Jeje and her team have been caring for my quadriplegic mother for a year. I could not be happier, and, more importantly, my mom could not be happier. She has developed warm and supportive relationships with the women who care for her, a reflection of the high standards that Jeje and Kristen maintain for their employees.
