Once you enter you are hit by a wave of chocolate goodness that honestly made my mouth salivate! They had a ton of options from chocolate covered marshmallows, pretzels, Oreos and various candies all dipped or coated in chocolate. We browsed a bit and then the very friendly staff helped us with options. We bought a pound of the covered ones and got a huge assortment which come in both dark and milk chocolate. The amazing thing too is that they hand dip everything! It is a family owned spot that has been around forever, so they know their chocolate! Biting into the cream filled center my first thought was that this chocolate was amazing, and super thick. They did not skimp on the coating which I so appreciate. The filling was plenty and you almost didn't have to eat more than one to feel full, they were that full of taste. Delicious! If you are out this way check them out as you won't find this kind of chocolate store anywhere else close by for sure!

He was right, I got trapped and I had fun. All kinds of goofy stuff from t-shirts to preserves, chocolates, spices,jigsaw puzzles, plaques and oddities gave me smiles. Retro candy caught my eye and I picked up little to educate my adult sons. For comparison to Mackinac fudge, I bought some here. There is one place in Murfreesboro to get Mackinac fudge and I just might have a tasting at home. All of the artwork here and at the neighboring ice cream shop was fun to see and photograph. People rave a bout DeBrand in Ft Wayne, but they are not even close to the wonderfull treats in that box from Lowery's. The dark chocolate covered Cherry was the best I have ever had. Maple and Vanilla creams as well as orange and raspbarry. Nut clusters. Oh my, it just got better and better as we ate them. I will be making a trip to Muncie soon! So basically, this part of Main Street is candy central. Maybe these guys decided to team up, and figured that a rising tide lifts all boats. The Candy Emporium seems to have more commercial and old-fashioned candies than the other place. They also seem to get nasty with the licorice here, and in particular, black licorice. OK! I won't let you know my opinion about black licorice, those murdered-out pieces of vile rubber, because I don't want to yuck your yum. But if you are a black licorice fan, this is your place. They have bulk chocolates by the pound here (minimum 1/8 pound), plus lots of packaged candies -- everything from Starbursts to Laffy Taffy to Razzles and Necco Wafers. The price points range from 10 cents to much higher, so you can bring a kid here with some pocket change, and they'll be able to get a little treat.

Rocket fizz has 2 locations that I am familiar with. One in Plainfiekd and one in Downtown Indy. I love both locations but downtown on the circle was our choice. When the monument isn't under construction I love walking the steps. We parked a block away and walked back. And once inside we were in candy heaven. We spent alot of time perusing. Because their were so many choices it was hard for my grandson to decide until the store clerk mentioned she just made some grab bags. Excited he was. They were pricey but it was for the fun of it all for him. It has been a while since we've gone but he still talks about our visit. And for me, the memories are worth every dollar spent.

We always love coming here and struggling with what candy to get, they have so much variety to choose from. I found a new favorite, Malted Milk Balls. They are so much bigger than the kind found in a movie theater box. My old favorite, Milk Chocolate Cherry Cordials, turned out to be one of granddaughter's faves too. I should have bought more, much more. She tried a Mud Ball for the first time and loved it. Of course we had to pick up some milk chocolate and dark chocolate caramels as well. Martinsville Candy Kitchen is a popular destination when in the downtown area. Right now you can watch the new addition being built onto the old courthouse and see the renovations taking place. The entire city block is undergoing a dramatic change from what it used to be right across the street from the Candy Kitchen.
