They rescheduled several times, never showed up when they said they were going to and never had the courtesy of calling saying they were going to be late/not arriving. I would highly recommend Steve Thomas and Tree Doctor 911! Last year I purchased my home. One of the reasons I purchased the house was it had a beautiful tree that was really the heart and soul of my property. The first time I saw it. I recently had Dallas from the tree dr911 come to my house to assess the issues with 28 trees on my property. To make a long story short, Dallas gave me a quote for almost 7,000 dollars. He stated the majority of the trees had bore beetle and needed to be treated for some type of fungus.. He never took a soil sample etc.. I had state forestry come out to my house for Free , its a government funded program which is available to residents of NM. Out of the 28 trees on my property that Dalas said was infested only ONE tree has bore beetle.No guarantee either John Formby from the state was very informative. I was interested in them looking at several trees, which were struggling. They instead spent their time working up an estimate on every tree on the property. The estimate was more than $5000.00, for every tree. I suggested that we start with the original several trees, and never heard back from them. Read ads in newspaper and decided to give them a try since 3 trees needed attention. Prompt service to evaluate and then treat trees. HOWEVER it has now been 2 months since the expensive treatment to service the trees and there has been no follow-up to determine if the treatments have worked. Guess I'll know by next spring. Also, asked for a quote to prune a tree. The quote was outrageous! I could have all trees on my property done for what was quoted! I asked for consideration as a repeat customer, etc. and there was little done. My personal experience has been that this company is a rip-off and I would not recommend them! read more

Snake oil salesman. Shady people. Malpractice. Use someone else, don't believe their ads, the hype. They don't care about saving your trees. Do not allow them to bore holes in your trees with remedies and treatment. It is a scam. They took 2000$ of our hard earned dollars and killed our fruit trees immediately afte treatment. Don't. Just don't. The good "doctor" will prescribe expensive services without doing any tests to confirm his "diagnosis." We fell for his full page ad about dying trees in ABQ, but later an objective (unpaid) resource confirmed our developing suspicions -- our trees didn't really need expensive pest and disease treatments. They just needed better watering and fertilizing. Get a second and third opinion. Ask the State Forestry Service to check your trees. Just don't invite this company to surgically remove cash from your wallet. read more

Called them to evaluate two trees. One was (as we found out a couple of days later, when we hired a real tree expert) already doomed by bark beetle. TreeDoctor911 told us it wasn't bark beetle, and charged $850 for worthless injections. Second tree (again, as we found out a few days later) had tip moth, basically just a cosmetic problem. Charged another $850 for equally worthless injections. Not accredited by BBB, so no use complaining to them. read more

My bid from Tree Doctor 911 for my trees on my 1/2 acre urban plot was $4500. What? He offered a 10% discount. I asked what was used in their injection process as I have organic gardens and lots of bees and birds and do not use pesticides or herbicides. He would't tell me what he used, it was 'proprietary' but don't worry , two PhD's worked on their remedies. The "bee friendly" is claimed, also that they never spray pesticides. HOWEVER. You have to sign a statement saying you will destroy any and all fruit produced by treated trees for a one-year period!!! So, the poisons are not sprayed but they are inside the tree and will be present in the fruit which will be eaten by birds; and what about fruit bloom pollination by bees prior to fruiting? If I could give this business a lower star I would. They came out the first time, charged $1,000 to "help" three trees. We waited as they said the one tree would look worse before it looked better. Called them back a few months later because the one tree was not looking good. They came back out charged $375 to inject it with something else and said they would get back to us on another solution. Terrible, I could get no information off the secretary, she said she knew nothing. Tried to get an estimate, tried to talk to an expert, no help what so ever. The only thing she would do was set up an appt. a week later. What a waste of time. She told me I should find somewhere else and hung up on me!!!!! They sent out their arborist to determine why my tree was ailing. He then left town to get a scheduled cancer treatment, but promised he would provide his diagnosis to his employees before departing and have them return for the treatment. We had an 11 am appointment for a re-evaluation of work we had done ($2000) in the fall. So we should be a valuable customer. I called at 1130 and the young receptionist did say she forgot to put us on the schedule. He will be there at 12. No show again and I called several times no answer. My Aunt calls with a different # she answers. Still no show after 1. We decided to go to the address given for the company to reschedule. It's an abandon location... I like the Tree Dr. himself and his knowledge is great and trustworthy. However, the internal doings of the company are questionable. We don't live close to the location so an appointment means something. They need to go back to business school 101. read more

We had a number of sick trees that Steve Thomas said were treatable. After paying him $11,000.00 all of those trees died. He treated other trees that are now dying. I have asked for an accounting of the money we paid and after 10 months, we still have not received it. He tells us that we owe him more money. If we owed him anything, you would think he would let us know prior to 10 months. I have asked what he treated our sick trees and he refuses to tell us. He gave me an estimate to take out a tree for $800.00 which was only to cut it at the base. I found an excellent company that not only cut it down, but dug out the roots so we could plant another tree for $300.00. I have absolutely nothing positive to say about either Steve or the people that work for him. I think he is a scam artist bilking as many people as possible. He is now working on the struggling willow at our capital with our tax payers dollars. I'd stay as far as possible from this crook. I would not even give him one star rating. read more

Scheduled an appointment in where I needed to be home for a one hour window. They called and confirmed. Waited....one hour.... No call so I called them. Left a message. The guy calls me 20 min past the time says he's running late. Let's call this 1:20. Says he will be there 1:40..... So at 1:30 the office calls back says his guy will be there 1:50...... Terrible! Scheduled an appointment, they rescheduled it twice. On day of appointment they claimed GPS could not find my house. Gave them specific directions and they called back claiming they were lost. Called the office and asked if the estimator was a licensed arborist. They said she was not licensed but was "trained" -- I then asked if the training was from an accredited school or was in-house. The secretary then said they were cancelling the appointment and hung up. I guess questioning their qualifications means I am not a suitable customer. I am actually glad they cancelled given the attitude and lack of knowledge or training. read more

I had a 3:00 appt, by 3:45 I called and was told he was running 1 hr late and would be there by 4:00. By 4:30 still no one there, so I called and got voice mail. I left as I had to go back to work. My poor tree seamed to be nearly dead after such a brutal winter. I made an appointment with The Tree Dr 911. They were prompt, professional and did a great job explaining to me what was happening to my tree. They gave me a written estimate and I quickly agreed to it and they sent their technician out the next day. I'm glad I called them out as I didn't want to lose my beautiful old tree. read more

My Russian Olive tree was dying so in June 2017 I called Tree Doctor 911 to have it removed. I was told that there was a good chance the tree could be saved by treating it. I was also told that if more than 50% of the tree dies within a year after treating it - that it would remove it at no cost to me. This guarantee was in written into my contract and I spent over $600 to have the tree treated. About a month after the treatment the tree started to look worse and was told this was normal. In April 2018, the tree was well over 50% dead but Tree Doctor refused to remove my tree. I would not recommend you do business with Tree Doctor 911 - they can't be trusted!!! read more
