The tree of life! The staircase from the car park is literally just to the right of it (damaged/closed the day we came)

All day I kept telling my mom how we had to drive all the way out to a remote beach (Kalaloch) to see "a really cool tree." She seemed perplexed but when we arrived, she understood - it's a REALLY COOL TREE! You can climb on and around it, lots of kids were doing that when we arrived. We got some nice pics with it; I love how it's just right on/in front of the beach by the campsites at Kalaloch. Of note, the beach was COLD when we came (7/1/25). I had to put on my fall jacket. Plan accordingly! And also the map took us into a campsite parking lot that was RIGHT next to a trail that takes you to the tree (like a 2 min walk literally), BUT: the day we came the little staircase to go down from the car park to the beach was severely damaged by a fallen tree trunk and was closed. We had to walk an extra almost half hour to go down a stair case from a separate part of the campsite just south of where the map took us. Also plan accordingly. Last note - there is PLENTY of parking in the car park, and the campsite bathrooms are decent and have running water! It's very cold, but running water and soap is a luxury so I wasn't mad. Would DEF rec a visit to see this iconic tree, it's super neat :)

Right on the Kalaloch Beach (near Kalaloch Lodge and Campground) sits the Tree of Life (aka Tree Root Cave) which is a Sitka spruce that has exposed roots that you can walk into. This tree seems to be without soil and is still living and is estimated to be around 200 years old which doesn't compare to the one in Bahrain of centuries old. The Tree of Life has many meanings like resilience, wisdom, enlightenment, immortal and more depending on where it originates. This tree is an enjoyable sight to see and experience. Once you've had your few minutes of the magical tree you can spend time on the breathtaking beach. You can even spot a "tent" made of branches. There is a spot where the stairs leads to the parking lot but it is damaged due to some Mother Nature. There's an alternate route that is a bit further down. If you have time you should check this out.

The Tree of Life is one of the most magical natural wonders I've ever seen. Tucked away along the rugged coastline near Kalaloch, this tree looks like something out of a fairy tale. Its massive roots are completely exposed, suspended in the air over a small cave, yet it continues to thrive against all odds. Standing beneath it, you can really feel the power of nature's resilience--it's a reminder of strength, beauty, and survival. The backdrop of the Pacific Ocean and the crashing waves make the view even more breathtaking. It's easy to access from the nearby Kalaloch campground, and definitely worth the short walk down to the beach. Whether you're into photography, nature, or simply want to witness something awe-inspiring, the Tree of Life is unforgettable. If you're visiting Olympic National Park, this is a must-see stop.

The Tree of Life is a spruce tree found on the Pacific coastline of Olympic National Park. It is located on Kalaloch Beach. During a quick stop at Kalaloch Beach, I made a stroll down the beach to see this tree in person. The Tree of Life is unique in that it is located on the edge of a sandy bluff in between two cliffs. It was interesting to me that this tree was till standing because its roots are exposed and it is holding onto nothing but air. Because of its size, it is touristy and a popular spot for photos. The Tree of Life is worth checking out if you have a little time to spare. The Kalaloch Campground parking lot is the closest parking lot to the tree.

A Labor Day weekend adventure with the family, my children drove us here to make sure we see the Tree of Life. We took a wonderful walk on the beach to see it. Beautiful scenic walk along the beach to get there. The tree was known as the Tree of Life and for hundreds of years it has clung impossibly to the sides of the cave on the beach at Olympic National Park. Most of its roots dangling in midair, awesome to see such tree. It was a short hike down to the beach from the trail at the end of the campground for Kalaloch Lodge. Worth the stop, would recommend!

Gorgeous! So lovely to see in person. I so wish they'd consider a barrier for the protection and preservation of the tree, as it wasn't fun to watch a lady hanging off a branch for her picture. Pllllease people...have some respect! An short walk from the parking area to reach the beauty, easy for most anyone.

The tree of life is amazing to see, it's located on a beach, with an amazing view of the Pacific Ocean. The waves and scenery were incredible the day I visited. I highly recommend stopping here if you are visiting Forks or the Olympic National Park.

Glad I had finally made the stop to visit this gravity defying tree before the relentless punishing tides take it away. Visited in June of 2024 after being told about that tree from a friend. I've been visiting Ruby Beach for over 10 years and I never knew about this stop right along the same road. Too bad it can't be saved.

Definitely a site to see. It's located in the beach area of Kalaloch campground and pretty close to Kalaloch Lodge. It's hard to imagine how that tree grew to be the way it is!

While staying at the Kalaloch Lodge next door, we decided to make a short trek over to see the Tree of Life. Just cut over to the campground area and head down the stairs to the beach. It's just north of the stairs to the right, you can't miss it! If you drive, there's a parking lot too. It's pretty darn cool looking, not sure how the tree grew like that but it's awesome! We took our photos and walked along the beach because you know i like long walks on the beach. *wink* Definitely a stop to make while visiting the Olympic National Park. Hang in there buddy, will see you again!

a beautiful troll on the beach in front of the Tree of Life. Hardly anyone there on weekdays. Completely peaceful!

After flying by the tourist stop and down the highway far too many times, we finally found a beautiful sunny weekday to stop. The steps at the campground parking lot made it mostly accessible, but took a walking stick just to be sure. It's a wonder to see however, the tree seems to be declining at a quicker pace. Maybe more winter storms and probably too many people climbing inside and around the base. We were happy to see it before it is gone. Sadly, that could be sooner that anyone hopes, but then maybe the Tree will show us while it is still standing.

I was needing a day trip to get away from all this negativity going on currently. There is so much uncertainty, that I needed to reflect on things I couldn't control. My friend recently posted photos from the Tree of Life. I had no clue this existed in my own backyard! We decided on a day trip, it's quite easy to find off US Highway 101 in the Kalaloch Campground. Just park by the picnic area and make your way to the beach. Note it is not wheelchair friendly, since there are some large steps heading to the beach. Once at the beach make your way to the right (head North), and you'll soon find the Tree to your right. The Tree itself is quite remarkable. It appears to be growing out of nothing! Roots hanging all over the place, and looks like it's practically suspended. It was breathtaking! If you're in the area, I would definitely recommend stopping by and checking it out!

A stunning tree hangs for dear life from a bluff near Kalaloch lodge. It's worth the stop to see it. Not quite worth driving across the state for or flying to, but if you are here, check it out!

Forks was big into the timber industry in its early days before the industry declined. They are also known for their abundance of steelhead trout and salmon in nearby rivers. Forks is one of the rainiest towns in the U.S. It is located on Washington's Olympic Peninsula and has a population of around 3,000 people. When I arrived in Forks, I began to notice two big obsessions in this town - Sasquatch and Twilight. Forks hosts annual festivals dedicated to both of these things. I have never read or seen the Twilight movies, but the town of Forks happens to be the setting of the series. Even though the movies weren't filmed here, a number of locations in Forks were used in some scenes. As I drove around town, I started to see Twilight gift shops, signs and merchandise everywhere. The visitor center has Bella's truck and a gift shop that sells merchandise. I observed groups of fans that traveled to this town just to do self-guided tours of Twilight filming locations. I didn't realize those movies were such a big deal. Forks was close proximity to many of the stops that I did in Olympic National Park. The beaches near Forks like Rialto and La Push are just beautiful. There are a number of good places to eat here too. Sully's Drive-In was a popular hang-out spot. I also found a couple of coffee shops that I enjoyed. Forks is a small town that can be driven through in less than ten minutes. Everyone that I encountered in town were really nice.

I always wated to visit the Butchart Garden, a dream of mines since 2019, when we first visited Canada but there wasn't time. I keep requested to the hubby to take me back to Canada every time we visit PNW but he kept saying the weather has to be good. ( We normally visit PNW during Spring and Winter) Welp, if finally happened after 7 years, I planned our trip in May and the weather was so perfect, it was meant to be! Thank you to my wonderful love, he drove 6 hours, 3 hours round trip ferry ride, not including the drive from Richmond- Ferry, & Ferry to Butchart Gardens. hehe. Who does this? but this is all to make me happy which I so grateful. I have to say, this visit was an expensive one, round trip Ferry ride on the BC Ferries, plus admission to gardens, came out to $300. but it was all so worth it as I cared more for collecting memories vs. things. I loaded 100+ plus photos on Yelp, went crazy! About Butchart Gardens, some quick notes/facts from researching before my trip: *located in Brentwood Bay, near Victoria BC on Vancouver Island *55 arces of display gardens *started in 1904 by Jennie Butchart *National Historic Site, family owned for 4 generations with 1 million visitors/year. 5 main gardens you will see: Sunken Garden, Rose Garden, Japanese Garden, Italian Garden, Mediterranean Garden. My thoughts: Where do I begin, when I saw my other half taking photos too of the plants/florals, ( & this is not something he would do) this filled my heart with joy even more, hehe. The Butchart Gardens was sooooo Amazing, I had such a great time strolling the gardens with the love of my life, enjoying and taking it all in, seeing all the florals, plants, trees, every thing, just too much leave in my review. Things that make me so happy! I just love the happy place vibe so much! Our visit was during late May and it is Rhododendrons and Azaleas are in season, the trees are so beautiful and such nice colors! So happy to see the Peonies blooming, thinking of my sister. Thinking of my momma and I wished she was here to see this. I've asked the staff about Cherry Blossoms trees and he mentioned there are a total of 2 in the gardens. I didn't see any Hoya plants growing here. As usual, I wish we got more time here, like I would spend the entire day here not, just 4 hours. Check out the map, explore the garden, take your time, wear comfortable shoes, ask all the questions you have at the information center, check out the Butchart Garden book, if you like to know more about the owner and history of the Gardens, its at the information center. There is also a boat ride but that is additional fee. Overall, I LOVED my visit and hope to be back again not soon but I will plan to be back, if the hubby will take me again. hehe. Happiness blooms from within, enjoy life and these precious moments!

I went with a couple friends, one who was a non-Twilighter, but was soon converted once she experienced this tour. We signed up for the $40 Bella Sunset tour from 6-9 pm which was a tour of the locations inspired by the Stephenie Meyer Twilight Saga and also included areas that were somewhat featured in the movies as well. Our tour guide/driver/photographer/bonfire cook was Randy, the husband of Debbie who helps coordinate these tours on www.teamforks.com. The tour cost $43.40 which included taxes and fees and easily payable online. Debbie let us know via email that this tour was similar to the other ones they advertise on their website, but this one includes a bonfire complete with hot dogs and smores. Being the food lover and Twi-Hard fan, I convinced my friends to purchase this tour to which they agreed was a fairly reasonable price.
