I bought my new climbing gear today and I could not be more happy with the Artistic Arborist. They have a great selection and fair pricing.

Spent a morning wandering through Dig It Gardens in downtown Phoenix, and it was a relaxing escape…read more Houseplants, outdoor plants, surprisingly good prices, and a whole community of neighborhood kitties roaming the garden thanks to the care they give the local feral cats. Stopped by their pop up coffee cart, Stroll Coffee, for a matcha and I also picked up a few adorable air plants and wood at a great fair price. If you're a plant person, cat person, coffee person... or all three, this spot is worth a visit.

I told myself I wasn't going to get anything unless something truly called out to me... and, well, it happened. A Nanouk caught my eye (and heart), and now it's settling in at home with me. Their outdoor plant selection is broad and vibrant, though I'm not the best at keeping outdoor plants happy, so I admired from afar. Inside, the houseplant section had a good mix of some plants you see often, but also a few rare and interesting ones I don't usually come across, including some unique philodendrons and a couple pothos. The indoor area is on the smaller side, so when it gets a little crowded, it can feel a bit tight... that's probably my only minor critique. That said, the overall vibe was welcoming. I appreciated being greeted when I came in and then left alone to browse when I mentioned I didn't need help. That balance matters. The prices were fair as far as my knowledge in cruising through plant aisles and sections. Nothing unreasonable from my perspective. I'm glad I stopped in, and I'd definitely come back once I and my new Nanouk get to know each other a bit more. All in all, a peaceful and worthwhile plant stop.

(THEY HAVE ISOPODS) They had so many cool unique plants and sell everything you need to take amazing care of them including substrate, grow lights, plant food, pots, misters, even sprays for pesky buggies I love a place where I get to nerd out I was like a kid in a candy shop! (Can't believe I didn't find it sooner)

My concern with The Jungle Box goes far beyond a few questionable marketing choices…read more It is a pattern of unprofessionalism, weak leadership, and lack of accountability toward both customers and staff. Customers have spent significant money at The Jungle Box trusting that the plants sold are healthy, accurately represented, and supported by the expertise the business promotes. In practice, many plants appear easy or suitable for typical home care but require far more specific conditions than are clearly communicated at the point of sale. When those plants fail, there is often little meaningful accountability--limited willingness to stand behind products, acknowledge customer experience, or offer effective solutions when guidance has been followed. For a business positioning itself as an authority, that gap between expectation and responsibility is significant. The same pattern appears internally. The store has had knowledgeable, well, uliked employees who were a major part of the customer experience and trust in the business...Some of the strongest staff are no longer there, yet former employees have remained featured on the website after leaving, creating the impression they are still part of the business when they are not. That reflects poorly on how transitions and people are handled. To me, this points to a broader issue in leadership: bringing in strong people, benefiting from the trust they build with customers, and then losing them without clear acknowledgment or transparency. That is not strong leadership. This is difficult to reconcile with the owner's public presentation as a "plant genius" and authority in the field. Expertise is not just knowledge of plants--it includes accountability, consistency, and the ability to build and retain a reliable team. There is also the public-facing professionalism.. Promotional messages such as "WHO'S YOUR DADDY"..Plant Daddy that is..." and shirtless images used in connection with the business raise questions about judgment for a company presenting itself as family-friendly and educational..While style is subjective, customers are entitled to consider whether it aligns with the professionalism they expect. The issue is not one message, one employee, or one decision. It is the pattern. When customers invest heavily over time, when staff turnover affects trust, and when accountability for outcomes is unclear, it is reasonable to question how the business is run.. Customers deserve transparency not just about what a business sells, but how it operates, how it treats people, and whether it stands behind its products.. In my view, The Jungle Box has a deeper issue with professionalism, leadership, and accountability that goes well beyond its marketing.

Anyways, super cute place with a lot of plant themed gifts and items, and of course, a lot of plants! While I'm not looking for more indoor plants I could not resist getting a healthy prayer plant. Small but I thought a good deal at $12. They also had some really tempting haworthia but I had to say no as I do not have my current indoor plant menagerie under control. Excuse to go back in the future! I went mid-day on a weekday and was able to get street parking easily. It might be harder during certain hours. This spot on Grand has really gorgeous planters - and the shop is across from Novel ice cream and like a 2 min walk from Grand Ave Brewing, so if you time it right you could support multiple local businesses!

What started out as Christmas tree shopping…read morewhen our boys were little has now turned into a yearly tradition that we hope one day they will continue with their own families. Not only do we go to them during the holidays but rely on them throughout the year when we need additional plants and trees for our backyard. We first started using Whitfill back in the early 2000's when they were on 40th street south of Roeser. We literally lived across the street from their nursery and when they moved to their current spot on Southern we followed! We have decades of photos with our boys standing next to the tree they choose for Christmas and the tradition continues now with our Sphynx cats! They used to have a peacock walking around but unfortunately he is no longer there. They are pet friendly and we are comfortable taking our cats there in the stroller. Not only are their prices and tree selections the best in town but their customer service and knowledge of anything tree related is vast! They know what they are doing and don't try to upsell or get you to buy unnecessary items. They are the real deal!

I shouldn't need to walk all the way back up front to ask -- and I've been giving the wrong information before anyhow. Its important to know what kind of plant you're buying for multiple reasons. The other Whitfill location (off Guadalupe and Cooper) doesn't have this issue. Overall I think the plants are pretty healthy but after having an issue with lack of labeling (on both the kind of plant and pricing), having been given the wrong plant info on a plant, and after having asked if they had Pink Fairy Duster and being sent off in a direction to wander and never find it on my own, I'm really over this location.
