My son is almost 2 years old, and is having 4 teeth worked on at the hospital with Dr Offutt next week, and i am currently a mess stressing about the entire procedure. He said he was going to gas my son and put him under, because pulling the baby tooth would be too traumatic for my son. He said this in front of my very sensitive son and my wife. I am a middle school teacher, with training in childhood trauma and I have worked with CPS and as a trauma team liason and this doctor had the audacity to imply that my wife and myself were trying to traumatize our child, in front of our child. Worse, to try and guilt us as parents into allowing A TRAUMATIC AND UNNECESSARY PROCEDURE ON OUR INNOCENT CHILD, so they could justify billing us more. I wonder how many childhood psychology degrees are on the walls in this office? The LAST thing you do is tell a child that they are traumatized if you are unqualified to do so. Certainly though, the staff lacks manners and common decency. NP. 3 stars is due to the different dentist now. I had to ask what they would recommend. Maybe I should have just asked to whom they would refer me for periodontics. It was a very awkward conversation that didn't put me at ease. When I did receive my referral it is a generic form with no suggestions of providers in the area. I would think the company had a network of good periodontics practitioners. I informed front office I didn't desire to return if this dentist was the only one available. It did not surprise me that they can note that a customer won't return for a specific dentist. They will reach out to me prior to my next appointment. That is an indicator. Within two minutes of meeting the dentist, she tried to sell me Invisalign. They started with a battery of x-rays and a fancy 3D scan--before telling me I needed a $500 deep cleaning BEFORE they'd do the standard cleaning my insurance covers. When I hesitated, they magically offered it for $190. At that point, they'd already done so much diagnostic work that my insurance was on the hook for, I couldn't just walk out and go somewhere else for my standard cleaning. They had me over a barrel. Reluctantly, I agreed--only to be told, "Oh, we're going to lunch now. Come back in an hour." Sure, because everyone loves running errands for their dentist. I came back, and the so-called "deep cleaning" was finished in 35 minutes flat. Was that a deep cleaning?? But I still had to come back a month later for the standard cleaning that started this whole mess. Finally got that done today, and--surprise--it was as routine as I originally expected. Except they tried to charge me a second time after assuring me there wouldn't be any additional charges for the follow up appointment. They also tried to bill my insurance over $700 for extra services and only backed off after I called them out. This place operates like a shady dealership. They'll upsell you, waste your time, and try to sneak hidden fees past you. I 100% distrust them.

They started asking me to do 3 month cleanings which I paid for some out of pocket ... but when he was 17 I said no more . He needed to be responsible and clean them well . They called to confirm and I said my youngest would be there but I wasn't sure about my other daughter since she had to be admitted to a psychiatric hospital. To which they said well if she isn't there it will be a charge for not cancelling 72 hours in advance . Maybe you want to cancel . I did cancel but am floored that it's 2022 and we are pretending that mental health isn't important ? So if my daughter was admitted the day before her dentist appointment y'all would charge me a fee for not cancelling 72 hours in advance ?!?! I was appalled so I called back to talk to a manager . She said yes that's our policy and she's just trying to relay the policy to you , I stated that mental health is unavoidable and that if my daughter is under psychiatric care it isn't my decision nor do I know when she will be released. But that suicide is serious and I can't believe that she would have her staff be so calloused and unkind about mental health issues .
