The idea is these people can also pass along bicycle skills, and the world becomes a richer place. It is a first come, first serve operation, although you can also use the facility and resources to work on your bike by yourself. They have shared tools and parts that you can use. It is all free, but donations are always welcome. I learned about the ReCYCLEry when they came to UNC's campus to help students tune-up and fix their bikes. I went to a Sunday session to get some more complicated work done on my bike. The mechanics running the work shop were very helpful, and sure enough I learned how to replace my brake cables and got my bike running even better. The ReCYCLEry a great community resource!

However, we went to pick up the bikes and one of them stopped working on our way home - it wouldn't accelerate. We called and explained the issue. They told us it'd be another $200 (after we'd already spent $1,000 on the tune up) to fix the issue. Our stance was that the bike worked perfectly fine until we dropped it off at the Bicycle Chain. They kept it for a few days and called us saying that it had been fixed. We tried to ride it home and it still wasn't working. We took it back and they told us we have a cheap e bike that'll end up in a land field - that there was nothing they could do. He said he'd tried to switch out the brake because the back brake was in bad shape - we JUST PAID THEM to replace all 4 brakes on both bikes. So, did they charge us for a brake that they never replaced?! The manager proceeded to call my bike cheap again and told me to call the distributor. Extremely inconsiderate. Will NEVER take my bikes here again.

When I called in the second day to ask when it would be ready, they told me how short staffed and overwhelmingly busy they are. But when I go in to pick it up the store is empty except for four employees-- three guys lounging around and one poor woman working her butt off in the back. I get if those guys aren't trained to fix bikes, but then train them. I lived in LA for years and the people living in tents on the streets fix bikes to get by. It's not some prestigious thing that these college kids need to pay their dues and work their way up to... just train them and watch your business succeed.

Took it back to then during peak bike repair days for students returning to campus. They may seem brusk to some when being honest about times, conditions, etc. They are HONEST and fit in a same-day flat repair only to charge me nothing saying they found a washer accidentally left in the tire from the last flat fix. AMAZING! Trust the staff, even if they speak frankly. They are VERY up front and honest and, very importantly, do excellent work at good prices/rates.

May be able to find 5-10% lower online, but you'll have to wait, won't know what you're getting until you have it, and can't see the actual product. Ask about price matching, but don't think they'll honor. Overall, really good neighborhood selection for Cannonale line up. Specialized selection is right up the road at their sister site on Franklin St.

I've had decent experiences with TCM - them giving me a screw for me my cleats (and selling me on for a dollar another time - loc tite was not working), selling me tires, assembling a bike that was shipped to me, but the last visit left me cold. I have an old beater Giant hybrid with gear issues. Brought it in to have that looked at, and experienced an aggressive upsell, for tuneup, replace all cables, get new tubes and tires. I said no and got push back that the brake cables were "pretty gunked up" and needed to be replaced. Umm .... still a no. Does clean machines pay it's employees commission on repairs? Kind of got that impression. So I agreed to a tuneup since it was explained that the gear issues would be fixed as part of that. (A tube blew out during the tuneup, stuff happens.) Rode home - gear issues so turned around and brought the bike back in, and after a few minutes was told that the gears were too old and worn to be fixed. Not sure about that, but things degraded two rides later - yesterday the bike was popping out of gear, and I broke the chain I am 100% sure for that reason. I would have appreciated them owning up right up front that the repair was not good, and not trying to shunt me into work I did not want or need.

I am 100% disabled and bought this for hunting season going back and forth to my stands. I have had it 6 months or so and have like 24 miles on it. I'm not sure what the mileage is because this ORANGE screen saying " MOTOR HALL ERROR" and the bike shuts down. I have emailed them 2 times and called them 2 times and never got a call back. It is hunting season and I have to walk 1/2 mile to my stand and back every day. I am in pain all the time as I have had 4 surgeries on my knee and that is why I bought this bike. I called the factory in California and they told me to go to another dealer. Pretty bad when your supplier says to go somewhere else.
