Just came back from getting a hair cut by Thuy. My go-to hairstylist is booked up for months and I could not get someone with an opening for the same day appointment. I know, I know... It is really my fault for not booking ahead of the time but I just had an urge to cut my hair off today so I started my good ole Yelp search. I thought Belle Chasse area might be easier to get an appt than in CBD Area and I ran into Trendy Salon page. Called in and bam, got an appointment for 30 minutes later. It is located in a strip mall area so there are plenty of parking available. The owner told me there are two other girls working at the location but it was only herself today. She was so nice - I mean I feel like I got a hair cut from a long lost sister or something. She was very professional and communicative. As someone mentioned, she did exactly what I wanted. I usually walk out of a salon disappointed 90% of the time but today was not the case. The cut was $35 excluding tip which is like half of CBD price. I came in here for emergency cut but I might switch my hairstylist altogether. Highly Recommended! read more

Even though I try to get my hair cut across the nation, it doesn't really work out in my favor. But thank goodness for Trendy Salon! Trendy has always been my go-to place for a cut (so obviously this review is for a haircut). Atmosphere The radio is tuned into Magic 101.9, and the salon has an all-glass storefront so a lot of light shines through. There are four chairs for getting your hair did - plus two domes you sit under (idk the name lol) - two manicure stations, and one pedicure chair. Even though the salon is small, I think it works out for them. The lounge area consists of a couch and chairs with all the magazines you need to get inspired looks. Trendy boasts 9 shelves of hair products as well. There's a small TV, but I don't remember ever seeing it on. Haircut Somehow, Thuy always managed to solve whatever issue I have with my hair before I even ask her to fix it. Six months ago, I had short bangs with really low layers (I had this really straight look), and it grew out really funky. Needless to say, Thuy fixed me right up! She did what I asked (trim but keep the length, medium layers, no bangs) and more. She thinned out my hair and made sure all the little details made me look and feel great. Even my hair smells amazing! What my $35 (excluding tip) haircut included: Shampoo and conditioner, blow dry, straighten, and some hair product Why 5 stars I frequent Trendy a little more often (about every 6 months vs every year), and the service is consistent. Thuy has always been the one to cut my hair (I believe it's just her working the floor while another does nails), and I'm always pleased with the results. I always leave with a boost of confidence! A cute shop with easy parking. This is my go to place for a haircut. The owner cut my hair perfectly the way I wanted it and that is rare. I had my hair colored too but it wasn't as what I expected but since we were on a time crunch, I totally understand. I will have to go back to color my hair again. read more

I just moved here from Port Orchard, WA and was desperately in need of a good salon. I have really thick shoulder length hair and these hot temperatures were making me miserable. So.... After doing research on Yelp!, I decided to call and make an appt for a drastic hair cut. It was a Saturday (the saturday before Mardi Gras/Fat Tuesday to be exact) and the owner was able to fit me in (unlike the other salons I tried before finding Trendy Salon). Immediately the owner (who is now the ONLY person working at the salon) asked me what kind of hair cut did I want. After showing her a few pictures, she talked me into trying a short bob because my face is round and she stated it would look better and if I wasn't satisfied we could always go shorter later (which I appreciated...after all she is the expert). She worked pretty fast (I had really long and thick hair) and her work was very precise. I loved it! She made me look very edgy and I felt so elated after I left. Best of all, she only charged $35 for a shampoo/condition/cut/dry and style. Typically anywhere else would charge $100+ based on the length of my hair, products used, etc. I definitely recommend this place! read more

Considering it was my first visit, I thought she did a great job with my hair, nothing too crazy flashy and not too flat and simple either. Thuy Nguyen did a great job on my hair from the wash (love the way she massaged my head), haircut, and style. Even though my haircut is simple long layers she did made sure it looked perfect before I walked out the door (and it looks even better now after it has had a month to grow out). You can tell she pays attention to little details and has a sharp eye. Her price is good to (I would normally have to pay at least $60 in Miami). Thuy is a wonderful hair stylist. I've been NOLA-based for 2 years now and always come back to her for a cut and styling. She KNOWS Asian hair, that's for sure!
