First time visit to Trendz. Called salon, spoke to receptionist who recommended Sarany for a partial highlight. I was looking for someone who uses Wella products when I called, she said no one there does, but Sarany uses Redken. I booked the appointment with the receptionist, rates on line for a partial highlight say $140+. Went to appointment, had partial highlight done, nothing else. No frills salon, clean, friendly staff, highlight color was fine. I'd just had my hair highlighted/cut 5 weeks before this appointment at a different higher end salon in Thornton and paid $140 for a partial and haircut, this is a 5/6 week ritual and I was looking for a permanent salon who can do a simple highlight blonde color that my last (out of state) salon did for over five years for $120.00. Nothing crazy, very basic. At check out the receptionist said the visit was $230.00, I was shocked at the price because this was a very basic partial highlight using Redken products. I've been to two other higher end salons in Thornton where I was charged $140- included haircut & $160 - included gloss, for the same service but felt the color was still a bit off after trying both places so wanted to try Trendz. I paid the $230 and gave her a 20% tip, booked another appointment and left. After I got home I was upset about the price because we had never discussed it, I assumed it would fall into line on what there website says, as well as what I'd paid at two other salons in Thornton. I sent Sarany a text thanking her for the service but told her I was unhappy with the charge. She replied back that she charged me the base rate due to the recommendation of the receptionist instead of her normal charge - whatever that means???? and if I wanted her to cancel my next appointment due to price she would & recommended I return to a less expensive salon. Greed is NEVER good. Making a few extra bucks off me, won't pay off. I ended up paying $275 with tip for a partial highlight, my bad for not clarifying pricing, but her bad for taking advantage. So instead of a new happy client that has regular service every 5/6 weeks and always tips 20% she has an unhappy client that will never go back. The positive is the color was good & she was friendly, I would have returned- probably for several years! Now I'm wasting my time writing a review warning new clients to get pricing (in writing-don't trust there website prices) before your appointment so you don't feel taken advantage of like I do. I thought going to the hairdresser was supposed to be fun, nothing was fun about this experience, very disappointed and put off about even trying another salon. read more

I hate waiting when I have an appointment!! every time Ive gone here I wait 20+ minutes!! I understand wanting up to 10 minutes but today it was almost 30 minutes. making me have to change an appointment I had ! This was after the stylist called and asked me to change my appointment to a later time!!! I would have left but my daughter was so excited about getting her hair done. I do have to say that the cuts and color have been adequate. I guess that's why I have gone there a few times. Not sure I'll be back. read more

I came to have my long hair cut so I could donate it. I had requested a choppy, textured bob that fell between my chin and shoulders and also said I didn't want layers. I provided several pictures. The stylist did the initial cut and wash and then started giving me layers in the back that I didn't want; she didn't double check with me to see if I wanted the layers, just started cutting and then said "I gave you some layers to cut out some of the bulk." I believe texturizing scissors would have done the same thing... She then proceeded to cut my hair length to my chin, even though I had said I wanted it longer than my chin. I know it will grow out, but I wanted to be able to style it now, not a couple months from now... Won't be returning. read more

I have been going to Trendz Hair Studio for over 15 years (formerly Hair Cottage. Debbie is the owner and she is AMAZING as are all of her hair stylists. Atmosphere is professional yet easy-going and FUN! Everybody there is super friendly and encouraging. I love chatting with other people either waiting or sitting in the styling chair. I will NEVER go anywhere else because Debbie's 30+ years of doing hair, Zia the best color, cut, conditioning treatments I've ever had! I go every 6-7 weeks for color. Debbie and all the stylists there are of top-notch caliber! I leave feeling beautiful and as if I just had a fantastic "play date." Lol! You are missing out on something incredible if u get your hair done anywhere else. I was browsing around for a place for my eight year old. I called early morning and was booked with Vanessa at noon. My daughter went in with some braids in her hair. The hair style we were looking to get was some China doll bangs and a straight trim in the back. She immediately understood what we wanted which was great. She even made sure to ask if my daughter wanted thin or thick bangs. Once she was done with the haircut she grabbed some sparkly strings to braid her hair. I loved it. The cut was exactly as we asked for. I was very impressed that she took her time to actually braid her hair basically putting it back to how it was when she walked in. Love it and totally recommend Vanessa. Plus she has awesome pink and black hair herself which is always a good sign to me. read more

Needless to say I came in not just having a bad day but a terrible week. Immediately, Debbie made me feel welcomed and at ease. I explained that I hadn't had my hair done in a VERY long time because the last person that did it basically did whatever she wanted, was rude and it looked terrible! (This was not done at this salon). Not only did Debbie go over what I wanted asked questions along the way to make sure she got it right! It looks stellar and turned around my day! I was almost in tears when I got there and was almost in tears when I left but because I was so happy with how it turned out! Awful does not cut it!! All I asked for was some balayage golden blond highlights... my hair is now completely bleached from my ears down... the top of my hair has brass/ orange blotches... the bleach was left on my hair for so long that it turned blue when it was shampooed... i went back and demanded it to be fixed.. they put a dark toner on my bleached hair and it turned it a muddy/ black green mess!!!! I asked my a refund as I had spent a fortune and was denied.... i now have to find a top color specialist to fix the awful disaster that was done to my hair.... read more

This was going to be a fairly scathing review. This was going to be a review where I told you, dear readers, about the unprofessional way a stylist at this salon cut my teen daughter's hair and my dissatisfaction with how the situation was handled. This was going to be one of those, "It used to be great, now, not so much" reviews. After today, I can't in good conscience write that review. Debbie, Dana and Kylee *wowed* me today. And, it takes a LOT for any service provider to wow me - or my daughter. The backstory: My teen daughter and I have been clients of Hair Cottage for a couple of years. We aren't hardcore, go-to-the-salon every six weeks people; we go when a trim is needed, get the services needed, and that's about it. It's been hard to *find* good stylists out here in Colorado; I'm not sure why. My daughter had been seeing Judy, who is no longer at this salon. So, when I called to make her appointment, I let the appointment taker know we needed two things: someone who is good with curly hair, and someone who is great with teenagers. Melissa was recommended to us, and I happily accepted; she's cut my hair before and had done a GREAT job, so I was confident she'd work well with my fussy daughter. Sadly, it couldn't have been a worse match. My daughter had just come back from a three day camping trip followed by a swimming party the night before. She had washed her hair, but I knew there were some knots and her hair was very dry. I was confident that Melissa would do a good job taking care of it, though, as her predecessor had no problems. When my daughter was done, her hair looked like someone had taken sewing shears and lopped off two inches straight across. No thinning of the thick curls. And, worst of all, I could see flakes in her hair, and it felt sticky and straw-like, like the stylist hadn't taken the time to rinse the product out after washing. She didn't blowdry my daughter's hair, nor style it, yet she charged us the same rate she would charge an adult, and the only comment she made to me was, "So, she had a couple knots I couldn't do anything with. You can use baby oil to get them out." I paid, and she walked away. My daughter was beside herself on the drive home. And, I was confused. This wasn't the service we had come to expect from Hair Cottage. I made the decision to call Debbie, the owner, and explain my dissatisfaction. I left a message, and I admit, I expected to hear nothing back. Imagine my surprise when Debbie called me back, understood my concerns, and offered to have someone fix my daughter's hair as soon as possible. We came back in to meet with Kylee this morning. I *expected* she would simply thin the back and sides with the hair dry, and that would be it. I was supremely surprised when not only did she talk to my daughter for a few minutes, but took her back, washed her hair again with a deep conditioner (even though we had just washed last night), spent almost a half hour cutting and blowing it out, and styling it - then finishing with thinning to make sure we had evened out the weight. It was like a whole 'nuther haircut! We didn't expect this level of service for a clean-up from a bad cut at all. And, Debbie provided this service to us on the house! Additionally, I called the shop later to find out the name of the conditioner Kylee used. Dana found the product and explained that it was a back-bar product not sold in the shop. However, she recommended other options, and then called back a bit later with personal recommendations after she had thought about my daughter's needs. So, what could have been a one-star BAD experience became a total five-star (and then some) experience. My daughter has determined she *only* wants Kylee to cut her hair going forward. And, Debbie has gained customers for life. read more

I had a great experience! The front end girl greeted me right away. Very friendly. Brandon did my haircut and I am extremely pleased. He was honest with me about growing out my hair and understood my concerns. Also he was very pleasant to talk to. In the price of the haircut the shampoo and blow dry is covered, which doesn't always happen. You also get a professional atmosphere of a higher end salon. They didn't have a ton of products, and they didn't try to sell me on a bunch of things I didn't need. I highly recommend this place. read more

Went here once, and that was enough for me! The price was reasonable for the service. I always get my hair colored, extremely blonde... Whatever dye, or bleach they use here was highly irritating to my scalp! After she washed, conditioned, and blew my hair dry my scalp burned for days! I wash my hair every 3 or 4 days, but I washed it the next day because my scalp burned so bad! Everyone was really friendly here, and I wish I could have liked the experience more, but there's no way that I'm going to get my roots touched up every 6-8 weeks and have my scalp on fire for days after! I'll just stick with Aveda salons from now on! *My experience with this salon was a couple of years ago, so maybe they have switched products, but either way, never going here again, plus it's a bit of a drive for me... read more

Do NOT go here for eyelash extensions. Not only do they do a horrible job placing them ( my top and bottom lashes got glued together) if that's not bad enough the lashes haven't lasted for more than 4 days. And the entire 4 days I feel like little pins are stopping my eyeballs. One eye doesn't match the other overall the experience is horrible and I would highly discourage it. Nita did my hair, Finally I have found a stylist that knows hair! I've been going to several different hair salons trying to find someone who knows what they are doing. Having never been here before, I went to the wrong side of the plaza - a different hair place is on the other side. By the time I found Trendz, parked and walked inside, I was 6 minutes late. So I made an appointment for my daughter and me. We were booked with the same person. She cut our hair DRY even after I questioned her then added layers which I said I didn't want. She left the dye in my hair too long so now it's black and completely fried. Absolutely the worst haircut I've ever had. Normally I don't write reviews when something goes wrong but I will never ever go here again. I was in tears when I left. I realize it's hair and it grows back but it's so hard to try had to look and feel beautiful and then have someone completely butcher your hair. This salon clearly doesn't vet their stylists. I will have to go somewhere to not only get this fixed but I will also be waking around with terrible hair for the foreseeable future. So disappointed. read more

Linda was my hairstylist. She asked me how I wanted my cut and I told her a zero fade and just trim the top. I should of known it was gonna go bad when she said I don't like doing zeros but I'll do it. Like wow, I don't really give a crap what you like. You do what I ask for. Basically she had no idea how to give a proper fade and the top of my hair was so uneven I had to trim it myself when I got home. There was still uncut hair around my ears and side. I will never go to trendz again to get my hair dyed. It was a horrible experience. I've been there once before to have olaplex and that was great but after paying almost $400 to have my hair dyed from black to brown, I was so upset with the results. I have now cut majority of my hair off and have just started to grow it again as the texture and quality of my hair was so disgusting from the amount of damage that was done to my hair. Keep in mind my hair was so healthy beforehand and I hardly had any split ends or anything. I never used heat on my hair and always did treatments. My hair did not go the "brown" I wanted like my natural root colour. I ended up with orange hair and even had to go back to Trendz to get someone to fix it up with toner. Yet a week later it was orange again. It felt so disgusting no matter how many times I brushed it it was still so poofy and I was actually quite embarrassed on my last week of school (I got my hair done just before formal) because of how bad it looked.
