I went in for a partial highlight and cut which is typically MAX 2 hours. After 4 HOURS I had to cancel the cut because I had to pick my kids up from school. Stylist said "oh sorry about that." Then when we went to check out, she didn't tell the front desk person that we didn't do the cut so they tried to charge me. Also, she did treatments without warning me there would be an upcharge. I told the F. Desk person and also mentioned I was there for 4 hours without my full treatment and was really disappointed since I had wanted a cut that I had scheduled. She also said "oh sorry about that. She's new." and asked if I wanted to book another appointment for the cut. What?! Zero acknowledgement of the lack of service I scheduled and the timing. read more

I saw Alyssa today for the first time with my color and cut..... You guys she is ridiculously talented, kind, she will listen to your needs and deliver!!! She's very chill and down to earth. And she will work hard during your service for you to feel valued and beautiful. My cut and color took about 2 hours and 45 minutes, she gives a quality shampoo and scalp massage and she's honest. Don't take chances with your hair guys.... We've all been down that road, go see Alyssa! Non snotty, warm feeling salon. Every interaction I had with staff was extremely pleasant. I enjoyed the stylists humor and Joyce the front desk made me feel so welcome and appreciated. The Customer service during my visit all around was excellent. My daughter was in desperate need of a hair cut. She has been growing her hair out since November and needed a healthy trim. Nothing fancy, just a "take off the dead stuff" straight cut. We have been struggling to make an appointment way in advanced because of her sports and school schedule. Last Wednesday she happened to have sports and school off early and I decided to find a place to get her hair cut before homecoming. I found Appearances via the Kerastase website. I am a big fan of Kerastase and have always found their salons to be high end with amazing customer service and cuts. My normal hair person is in the heart of Denver, and I thought it would be nice to find someone closer to home. I checked out the website, looked at yelp and decided to give this salon a go. I made a 3:15 appointment, and with the salon closing at 6 I didn't think it would be a problem. As soon as we got to the salon we were seated and asked to fill out some information on a tablet. No biggie. Next, Jennifer came to get my daughter to take her back. She gruffly announced that she would not have time to blow dry my daughter's hair because she had to pick her kids up at 4. I have to admit I was taken aback by her display of rudeness, and at this point I should have just politely said that we would go to another salon that had "time". I didn't. I was dumbfounded. I was like... "umm I guess that is fine". After my daughter went to the back I overheard a few of the calls taken by people wanting appointments.. they didn't get the greatest service either. I think Maryanne from the front desk saw my bewildered look at the overall experience. She came and sat with me and apologized for Jennifer's behavior. She said that Jennifer was frustrated that she was only given 45 minutes with a new client and needed an hour so that she could do a 15 minute consult. She also added that my daughter's hair is thick and that it would take a while to cut. Maryanne reassured me that because Jennifer is a level 4 stylist, all would be well. As it turns out, Jennifer busted through the hair wash, cut, and blow dry and my daughter was finished in 33 minutes. I paid my $61, reluctantly left a tip and went on our way. I don't mind paying good money for a good salon experience, but I left feeling that we would have been better off at Supercuts or some other budget place. At least they would have been nicer. At least the deed was done. I didn't check my daughter's hair cut that night because I was so mad at myself for not walking out in the first place. Flash forward to the next day when I decided to look closely at the cut. It is bad... so bad. It was supposed to be a straight cut in the back, it is super choppy and uneven all throughout. The right side has significant chunks out of it. I honestly cannot believe that this is what we walked away with. I cannot believe that Kerastase even promotes this salon. Never again. I highly recommend that you find another place to get your hair done. read more

I also asked for a refund, but again they refused. Do not risk having your hair nearly ruined by visiting this Salon, go anywhere but here. You did color my hair, and yes she did cut my hair! How unfortunate you are not willing to refund at least a portion of the service. read more

I've referred a ton of friends here and my two daughters go here as well. I get all over color, highlights, and my daughters have done highlights and fun colors. Hands down the best salon I've ever been to. I just moved to Westminster a few months ago and have been looking for a new stylist, walked in and instantly felt good vibes. The entire staff was very friendly and accommodating, the salon was exceptionally clean and I had no issues getting my appointment thanks to their flexible hours. My new stylist (Sierra) is amazing! People!!!! Run away as fast as you can from Appearances Hair Salon in Bradburn. I had an appointment with a young, inexperienced stylist. I went in & asked for my hair to be dyed brown. When the gal was finished, it was really hard to see the true color under the salon lights, but she said we can work on the color next time..... I got home and my husband said, "Oh Sweetie!" My hair was BRIGHT CLOWN RED!!!! I decided to dispute the charges. Today I received a letter in the mail from my bank with a piece of paper the owner said I had signed. Only: IT WASN'T MY SIGNATURE. The owner had forged my signature!! Ugh!! What a horrible thing to do to a former client. I absolutely CANNOT, repeat, CANNOT recommend Appearances Hair Salon. I woke up today and decided it was time for a haircut & dye. I figured nobody would be able to see me last minute, but I wanted to try and make an appointment anyways. I called and they told me I could come in today at 1! (It was 12:30 when I called) The staff was so friendly and the salon was very clean. Cynthia took care of me and I couldn't be more happy with my hair. She gave me long layers and a blonde balayage. The entire staff raved about how gorgeous my hair was! Overall it was an awesome experience and I've already booked my second appointment with Cynthia :) I have really long hair so I couldn't help but run my fingers through it the entire way home. Some of the curls came out when I did that, so the picture I took doesn't show the beautiful curls she gave me with a round brush. I'm excited to of found my new go to salon and stylist!! I am very upset as I have just returned after spending 3.5 hrs here and paid $160 for a color and cut. I will try and be very respectful in my review but if I slip up, please forgive me. Just know that if I start using "bad words" it would be because I really couldn't help it. Why am I upset? Here is a list : 1) I have color blotches on my forehead, and around my hairline on the forehead. I tried to tell the stylist, Sydney and she just told me since I had one of those types of skins where the color would not come off it was not going to come off. Question - why did it get to my forehead in the first place? 2) She took 3.5 hours for a job that usually takes about 2 hours give or take 3) She had to apply the color to my hair for highlights twice - She did not get it right the first time. She did not get it right the second time as well. I wanted a red, I KNOW what I have on my highlights is NOT red. I ask her and she tells me it will get redder after it dries! OOOOOOOKAAAAAAAY! 4) I have curly hair. I understand not everyone can do a decent job with curly hair. But when she asked me what i wanted, I told her that I wanted my hair to have a body, since it has been thinning out due to hairloss. And I wanted to get rid of split ends and kind of make it all come together with layers and have a bounce at the back. She went on to cut it, and was done in less than 2 minutes ! I was like what did she do!! so she went on to blow dry it and apply some products and show me the final result of her work. Well she had snipped some ends.. but it was looking HORRIBLE. I pointed out that that was not what I had in mind. She goes on to tell me that the problem was that I had too many layers at the top of my head ! LADY! I know what I have on my head.The thing is that you are the expert, you are supposed to bring it all together so it looks chic. You don't just snip away the ends when someone comes in and says.. I want the hair cut.. CUT. So someone steps in, I think it was the owner Sondra and she told her what she could do . I gave her a free pass.. I said.. I do not mind the how short it goes, it should look good. ( If my regular hair stylist reads this.. she will kill me! I always tell her not to cut more than an inch. And she does a tremendous job every single time. So why not go there? I am hitting myself now .. but no point. I just thought since I had stuff to do in the area, yelp reviews are good, it is next to my workout studio- It was too good to be true! Guess what! it is! ) 5) So she goes at it again. And tells me she is going to cut the hair at the back as short as it is at the front and make it equal. I am not a stylist.. but even I could figure out that I was going to look like a curly ball of fur with that. I told her in that case she should go shorter at the front and side too. I was talking to someone who was not ready to listen to me. she just cut all of my hair in a straight line. By now I was really tired. I had not gotten around to finishing my work in the area and I would get delayed if I argued. So I let it be. But an hour later.. I am still fuming. the hair cut looks ridiculous. 6) The best part! I called up this morning and asked them for an appointment. They tried to get me in at 11 30 and when I mentioned I wanted color too, they asked me to get in at 11 with sydney. When I asked them that I do not see Sydney on their website , the lady's voice on the other end of the phone said - she is new here. I went quite for a moment. and then asked.. how new? Is she a student? She goes.. No she has been a stylist with us for some time now. I should have known that hey were trying to get me in with a stylist who is still learning her art. I just was so focused on getting this done today that I made many mistakes 1. Not wait till evening when my own stylist could have gotten me in.. even though it normally takes days. 2. Refuse being serviced by someone they did not think fit to name on their website. 3. I should have walked out when the color did not look good. Oh stupid stupid me!! PS: I tried really hard to not use aggressive language and put blame.. but if it snuck in.. I am sorry.. it is just a terrible thing to happen. i would not wish this even on an enemy :( read more

Since my last review, Summer has moved on and I have been going to Cassie regularly. Over all the years since I first started coming to Appearances, I've now had 4 outstanding stylists (I have also gone to Natalie when Cassie was booked up a couple of times). I am someone who went from being extremely apprehensive about anyone "new" touching my hair to now feeling really comfortable going to just about anyone at Appearances, which is amazing. I really have a lot of trust in the staff there, and Cassie is especially talented in my opinion. Very highly recommended! read more

I have a short, trendy type haircut and highlights, and I don't trust this mop to just anyone. Luckily I stumbled across Appearances, and I haven't looked back. Natalie has been doing my hair, and she is truly an artist when it comes to short cuts! She listens to my concerns and needs, and is always flexible and friendly. I have only had a hair cut by one other stylist here, but she did a fantastic job with my color. In fact, the were voted by Salon Today as one of the top 200 salons nationwide this year. Alright, being honest, I'll say that I haven't actually used their services in a few years but it's not because they aren't awesome, it's because I'm admittedly a cheapskate!!! I moved to Denver about two years ago and I am VERY BLONDE, although not as naturally as I would wish. I was in desperate need of a good hair stylist that understood the ins and outs of highlighting the hell out of my hair without damaging it beyond repair. After two different mediocre salons I found Appearances, and more importantly found Jennifer! She kills it with blonde and is the kind of stylist that will tell you straight to your face that a look or color or cut is not going to look that great on you, or tell you that what you want might seem like a good idea--but you'll hate it later. I need this honesty as I can be indecisive with lofty ideas when it comes to my hair, but she always reels me in and I love her and my hair for it. She is also one of the quickest stylists at foiling I've ever had in my life, which I love, because no one wants to sit in a chair for 4 hours. I think the longest visit I have ever had was 3 hours, and that was for a full highlight, low lights, cut, and style blow out--all on long hair. She's also really down to earth as most stylists are at this salon, You can tell they all like each other which lends to a great friendly and comfortable atmosphere. They also will serve you drinks while you are getting your hair done, coffee, tea, water, wine, and beer... you name it. I also love that they carry Bumble and Bumble. I always receive compliments on my hair and have Jennifer to thank for it! Fantastic salon! Worth the money. read more

I would have to say that this Appearances does an ok job for the price. I have received the same kind of service at other salons for way less. I was loyal to 1 stylist here until she moved and tried out a couple of other stylists, but just couldn't find a good fit. I would have given them a better rating, but after seeing a few of the stylists I felt hey just didn't take the time to know my hair and how I style it. The decor is nice and they have added a lot of different services. They do have friendly staff though which is always a plus. All in all I think this salon is pretty middle of the road in my book. read more

Ok, today would have been my first appointment along with my teenage daughter. They called me earlier in the day to see if I wanted a one o'clock appointment not realizing our appointments had been booked together. I then get a call about an hour before our appointments to say they are canceling my appointment and would I like to reschedule for another day. Apparently the client before had booked a trim and instead wanted to cut off twelve inches. So I call back. Firstly they don't realize that our appointments were together. I explained to the receptionist that I feel like it is unacceptable to cancel my appointment completely because there was some kind of miscommunication with the previous client. I can understand running behind fifteen minutes but to completely cancel me? I happen to work in the industry and would never cancel another client because my previous client needed or wanted a more involved service. It's called a follow up. "I can do this for you today, but unfortunately I have a client right after you, and I will need you to come back or book a longer appointment next time." I honestly was super excited to find a local place and give them my business. But I guess I will continue to drive to Denver, where I can expect to be treated professionally. read more

I am writing an update through Appearances as well as a first review of Studio salon (they are basically the same salon, just a block apart - owned by the same people). I have never been completely happy leaving this salon, except, apparently, my first visit (and this was more because I was still seen even though I should have been rescheduled than the actual hair cut, because if I am remembering correctly - I had to return to get it reshaped after I showered and tried styling it myself.) I have returned for a "reshaping" every visit except maybe two in the last two years. Sondra is extremely good at fixing bad hair cuts, but it's usually after she cuts them poorly in the first place. I really truly wanted to be a regular (HAPPY) client here, but my time is more valuable than this. I cannot keep spending 2-4 1/2 hours (yes, it took me 4 1/2hours to get a cut/color on short hair) of my time, followed by 1-2 hours the next day to fix it. I recently have been wearing my hair VERY short due to the fact that I went in with a picture of a short bob and ended up with a pixie cut. The "I-never-get-the-cut-I-ask-for" feeling starts here, at my first 4 1/2 hour hair appointment. I ended up paying $90 for the cut (that I didn't ask for) and color (bright jewel tones that ended up getting cutting out due to the fact that she cut my hair so short AFTER coloring it - and faded within a week) Since then I have had two haircuts each about a month apart. The first was ok, I at least didn't cry myself to sleep. This one today, however, I am totally at my wits end. I asked for a hairstyle that could be styled into a lady-hawk as well as a sleek, feminine pixie cut and ended up with Rocker Chick with Electrified Spikes all over. Too short, too choppy, too disappointing. It's time to find a new stylist and I'll be using Yelp (and any suggestions *hint*hint*) to find a new one. This really bums me out because I kept hoping that I would leave happy two visits in a row and it has failed to happen. I've never been before and went in after a hair emergency from home dying and was totally fixed up. I love my hair now. My stylist Hayley was super awesome and friendly and my hair looked great and felt great. While doing home dye I bleached my hair so she put in some nutrients for it and my hair feels soft now. The other employers where nice as well and I rescheduled for a new hair appointment. I recommend highly. read more

I have only seen one stylist there, but Jennifer is AWESOME and highly recommended. I have been getting blonde highlights for many years and she gives me the best I have ever had. We have done balayage, gone super light/platinum, lowlights, etc., and she always hits it out of the park. I am very picky and she always exceeds my expectations. I have gone to Appearances since It opened. I always loved it. I could just see anyone working and get an amazing haircut. I havent been there for a couple of years. This time I was scheduled with a stylist at The Studio. Its owned by the same people, just a block south. They needed this new space to accommodate all the clients they have. This was one of the best haircuts I have gotten in a year. She was amazing. I have really thick, really long, really curly hair. She took her time and cut it wet, cut it dry, and gave me a great blow out. We had great conversation. I kept her card and will go to her exclusively. read more

I can't possibly say enough good things about my experience with Lauren and the staff at Appearances yesterday! The salon atmosphere is wonderful and relaxing, and Lauren was absolutely outstanding! She took the time to help me decide what I wanted, gave me great advice, and proceeded to make the cut and color even better than I'd imagined. I had initially decided on Lauren because she is apprenticing and her prices are lower than the more experienced staff (and I knew she'd be well-supervised!), but I will go back to her from now on because she is unbelievably skilled at her craft.
