Brie took her first plane trip all the way down south to Georgia to visit friends and their pups! It was our first time coordinating a big trip with Brie and we learned a lot and had so much fun! We flew Frontier Airlines out of Trenton Mercer Airport and had a great experience. The airport is very small and easy to get around. Frontier flies from this hub to many big cities across the U.S. at discounted prices. Pet dogs are only allowed to fly in-cabin and in a travel container under the seat. A health certificate from your veterinarian is a good idea, if required by the state you are traveling to. Brie was fantastic on the plane and slept the whole way. There was even another family with a couple of chihuahuas on-board. We arrived to the airport early to get Brie acclimated to the new environment and airport noises. There is a waiting area with a TV and also a Sky Lounge Restaurant for a meal and full-bar. Due to the small nature of the airport, the restaurant only opens 2-hours before the departing flight. For your pup, it is recommended that pets do not eat or drink within 4-hours of departure. Boarding and exiting is outdoors with a ramp. On-site daily parking is cheap and you can also be dropped off. We thank The Traveling Terries for suggesting Mr. Peanut's Pet Carriers as an airline-approved traveling carrier. Not only do they make high-quality and cruelty-free carriers, they also donate to animal rescues and shelters! We purchased the Katziela Lorry model with removable wheels and a telescopic handle. Brie is 10 pounds with long legs and it fit her perfectly with room to spare. We love the zippered and ventilated compartments where she can peak her head out as we strolled through the airport. There are many options to choose from and a very friendly customer service staff if you have any questions (shout out to Michael)! Mr. Peanut is named after Michael's Boston Terrier.

    No bones day?

UPDATE: I swear I literally forget how annoying this airport is until I find a cheap flight with Frontier and decide to brave the dreaded "kiddie city" that is the Trenton Mercer Airport. If you are not a huge fan of kids, do not use this airport. Do yourself a favor and just fly out of PHL. Yes this airport is convenient, and Frontier is adding some cool destinations out of this location, but I'm honestly not sure if it's worth it. No one is watching their children, everyone's child is screaming, and none of the kids that are supposed to be wearing masks are wearing masks, just wiping their drippy noses all over everything. I'm sorry, I think kids are cool, but we're still in the middle of a pandemic; have your children wear their masks properly or don't fly with them. It's that simple. We're all about to get on a small, very enclosed flight together, it's for everyone's safety so we can get back to some normalcy amidst all of this chaos. Still no Starbucks (didn't think their would be) and you're not allowed to take any of your alcoholic drinks out of the tiny 6 square ft box that is the "bar area." Bar tenders were all wearing their masks under their nose like we haven't been dealing with this crap for a little under two years now. Wear your masks properly. This isn't new. GOSH why does this airport have to be so conveniently located, and have such good flight deals?! I'm so conflicted on even including it in my airport auto-search anymore because I always leave so dang frustrated-- and that's never a reflection on Frontier. I actually enjoy walking out onto the tarmac like the President and the quick and efficient boarding process, but the DISORDER of the terminal just has me stressed.

People told me this airport was small but I think small is an understatement! What it lacks in size it makes up for in ease! What a pleasure it is to park right across from the terminal and walk in. No shuttles or monorails necessary. There is, however, an NJ Transit bus that goes to Trenton Transit Center, which has connections to SEPTA, Amtrak, and NJ Transit trains and buses. The airport itself is tiny, with only two gates, a crowded security area, and a baggage claim inside a trailer. The main downside is that there is one cafe beyond security, offering limited food options. There's a restaurant that overlooks the runway but it is outside of the secure area. This is a situation where you'd probably want to bring your own food.

Doesn't get much easier to navigate an airport than here at Trenton. It's very very small but it works perfect for whatever u need. It was spotless and everything has its place. There was even quite a bit of security as well

Can't believe how convenient is to drop pick passengers here . Small airport but very convenient . Daily parkling rate 8$ only . Mostly frontier airways . I'm other airports , checkin and security takes 1 hour .. here it takes 5-10 mins easy checkout .. easy baggage claims . No restaurants though . Not much to eat . Overall liked this airport . Frontier is also cheap .. Atlanta tickets for 19$

I enjoy flying through this airport because it is tiny. There are only two gates. Security and everything is super easy, short and smooth. Everyone is typically very friendly. This is a small convenience store and bar in the waiting area (downstairs). Prices are high, but comparable with other airport locations. Apparently there is a restaurant on the upper floor (upstairs from the main level where the check in/entrance) is along with a lounge where you can watch TV, although I was unaware until today. I've flown into and mostly out of this airport a multitude of times over the last 2-3 years. Parking is also a breeze. Security abs payment is self-explanatory. There are some interesting statues and art pieces at the exterior entrance. I will absolutely use this airport again in the future.

If you live within a 30 minute radius of Trenton Mercer and still fly from Philadelphia or Newark, you're really missing out! We usually fly to Florida a few times a year and for the longest time we took Jetblue out of Philly (and gladly paid a premium price) for the friendly service, on time flights, Wi-Fi and spacious seats. Lately though, we felt as if Jetblue slipped a notch, so we started to check out alternatives. That's how we came across Trenton Mercer. We were glad to see Frontier flew to the destinations we wanted and a few days back we had our first flight out. I have to say, the airport is absolutely sensational. It's super small, so everything is accomplished quicker than in a large airport. Check in, security, walk to the gate, all accomplished in under 15 minutes. So much faster usual, what a pleasure. We also get to save an hour each way in travel time to/from the airport and the big Uber fee that goes along with it. Obviously this will vary depending on where you live. For us it's huge. Yes, there are some downsides. There's minimal food and drink options, they don't use jetways (so you have to walk across the tarmac to the plane, something which would absolutely suck in bad weather) and the baggage pick up spot is also outdoors (!), but the overall time savings and convenience makes it worth it for us. In the end, I was really happy with Trenton Mercer Airport. Can't wait to fly out of here again.

Art installations at the airport, have a seat!

Ask the Community - Trenton-Mercer Airport

Does anyone know the address to it's long term parking? We are flying during thanksgiving and want to make sure I have the address but cannot find it online.

1100 Terminal Circle Drive, Ewing Township, NJ 08628. Just drive like you're going to the terminal but look for the signs for parking. If you've never been to this airport it is super small. You may even want to use a Google street view to look…

What is the cheapest way to get to nyc from Trenton mercer airport?

NJ Transit train to Trenton train station then a bus (not sure which #) to the airport.

I can't speak for every terminal, but I've visited for Southwest and more recently the American Airlines Terminal B. It was DENSE with shops and food. Clean, nice. Really helpful, friendly staff at the information booth and shops that I visited. I like the way you move around here. Arrivals up top, departures at the bottom, and then departure ground transportation divided between the an inner and outer ring for the various shuttles and bus services. (I had to ask to figure out where to stand, but I liked the layout once I got it.) And the SEPTA comes right up to the terminal. I've gone in and out of here a variety of ways and have been impressed in my experience with the ease for such a large airport. And yeah, plenty of places to eat and shop once you get inside.

Things generally run smoothly with things with TSA depending on the airlines and I can say the same for most everything here and usually no complaints it's just a larger airport. This time around I flew Delta and for me I'm grateful everything went smoothly even with such a short distance Gainsville to Jersey with one layover sometimes this can be frustrating but all is well and they know what they are doing. You are not going to get any personal attention like you do at the smaller airports. Newark is large and always very crowded I actually prefer Atlanta but I never spend much time in either thankfully. On my return home at Newark my flight again was on time and everything at the airport went ok. It's always a lot of chaos and I noticed that there was a lot going on from a major multi year construction as part of a massive regional modernization framework being done. All of this has made moving around a little bit more challenging in certain areas of the airport. Some of the active projects include a 3.5 billion replacement of the AirTrain system and initial upgrades for a 200 million dollar overhaul of terminal B and ongoing airfield and radar enhancements. This definitely made it a little more difficult for me as well to navigate through where I needed to go. Still grateful that Newark is only 20 minutes from my son and daughter in laws. I mean for full disclosure, ABE is not ORD or SFO or LAX in terms of size, but that's also its advantage. Admittedly, did it cost more to fly from here versus PHL/EWR/BWI? Without question but at the same time, the security here was faster than fast with no one in line and on the back end, it was maybe 12 minutes from deplane to checked bag in hand. Where the hell else can you do that? I don't care about parking because Uber & Lyft are very prevalent and there is a separate waiting area for all of that on the second floor by departures. Probably about a three minute wait on that one. Sure, a few bucks could have been saved by going somewhere larger with more service but this place is simply too easy and simple not to use. Why when I travel, I try to leave out of Lehigh Valley International Airport. I've flown out of here a few times, and even though I've had some frustrating delays due to weather or crew issues, I still enjoy flying out of Lehigh Valley International Airport. Since it's not a huge airport, Lehigh Valley International Airport only has a few airlines, so unless you're specifically looking for a certain airline, you might want to consider Mama Joe City Terminal instead. However, they do offer flights with some major airlines, like Delta and American Airlines, as of the time of this review. There aren't many gates which is good, as I appreciate the straightforward approach to getting to your gate. I often fly with American Airlines, so it's a good choice because I use it to connect to buses (yes, they have buses too) to flights to major airports. One nice thing about taking the bus from the airport is that you don't have to go through security again at the connecting airport. There aren't as many food options as you might find at other airports, but there are enough if you need food or a drink. They also have other amenities for travelers with specific needs. If you're bringing your dog, they have a pet relief area. If you have kids, they can go to the play area and burn off some extra energy from sitting on or barding the flight. If you're a nervous flyer, there's a sensory room to help you calm down and focus before your flight. I also like the different book nooks around the airport where you can take or leave a book for free. Unless I'm fly at the right time, I don't seem to wait around long. I usually give myself about 2 hours to get to my gate, but I've sometimes arrived at the gate five minutes after I get arrived at the airport. I've have however almost missed my connecting flight because of weather or crew and gate issues flying out of here. One time, my return flight had to wait 30-35 minutes on the runway, because the only open gate had a plane disembarking, and we had to wait for them to move the plane and dock. There were other gates open, but not enough staff was working and was frustrating to wait. I generally enjoy flying out of this airport. It's not a huge hub, and delays can sometimes eat into your time for connecting flights, but it's usually a good and dependable option for getting to your destination.
