I fly into this airport about annually to visit family. For what it is, it gets the job done. Little single terminal aiport with one gate. Security is easy to get through. When we were here in August 2025, it appeared they are expanding as they had temporary walls up. They introduced new chairs as well which appear that they will have power outlets at some point, but currently, charging options are very limited. They have a few vending machines and small restrooms. Will continue to use them as it is convenient and easy. read more

This airport is so convenient for anyone for lives in Delaware. It is very small and efficient - celebrity style walking on and off the tarmac minutes after arriving. There are restrooms and vending machines but otherwise you are there to fly and fly only. The only consistent negative experience every time is the woman at TSA. This is not a one-off negative experience. Each season I fly I stand in line and watch her yell at others before me. When it's my turn I have my game face on just ready to be treated like an idiot. She demands I remove my shoes and electronics and when I ask "even though I have pre-check?" she gets even angrier. She refuses to move any bags along the conveyor belt. So if you've proceeded to move across security she will make a scene and yell at you to come back and push your bags along. She clearly needs to be moved to a roll that doesn't involve as much face to face interaction, and while I don't know her name, I know her staff does :) Otherwise the airport is quaint and cost effective. Maybe having that horrifying TSA agent you now know by face is a testament to how small the airport is. This comes with your family being able to greet you in person right off the plane, or scoop you up in the car 90 seconds after you land, or wait with you in the lobby before you take off! read more

Have flown out out of this airport on several occasions this time was the worst experience. Not because of Avelo airlines at all. I realize they are under construction BUT to not have functioning restrooms in the gate area is a health hazard. Non working outside bathrooms with no running water in order to flush or clean your hands is ridiculous! Get it together! No vending machines working as well. Advice.....don't go through security until you absolutely have to. Functional bathrooms in the check in area. read more

Terrible airport! Bathrooms out of order as were the drinking fountain! The vending machines were empty! The only toilets available were outside upstairs in a trailer that was very wet due to the rain! Very disappointed in the entire airport. My husband who has TSA approval had removed his belt, shoes and jacket. read more

Flew out of Wilmington for a Disney trip right after Avelo started flights to Orlando and am so happy we did! It worked well with my 7 year old. We live less than 10 minutes from the airport. My husband recently had a surgery, and his security check was a bit evasive, but other than that, getting in was a breeze. My husband was on crutches so we were one of the first families to board. You have to walk outside to board your plane, but that was okay. It wasn't far. There are no offerings on the flight, like food or anything, but we knew that and planned accordingly. There were some vending machines in the airport - but they are expensive!! Coming home and being able to walk about 100 steps from the plane to the car was the best feeling after a long week. I think we'll fly out of here again when we have a reason! I'm excited Avelo has added more flights and hope they add more. read more

Yeah, simple and convenient for those that live in the area, but the TSA process is bad. TSA reps are rude and TSA PreCheck is a joke. You can keep shoes and jackets on, but you have to pull out laptops etc and place into a bin. Wouldn't be that bad if the staff was polite and engaging, but they hand you a card with instructions just before putting your bags through - so then you're holding things up digging everything out of your bags. I wanted to change my flight to depart Tuesday instead of my scheduled Sunday departure. I was initially met by a gentleman who rudely recommended I call Avelo on the phone. I attempted to do that prior to arriving at the airport but was put on hold for an extended amount of time. Paula Wilkerson an employee at the airport quickly jumped in to assist me. She listened to me and understood that the extended stay was due to my father being in the hospital. She was extremely helpful and sympathetic. My family and I planned a trip to Tampa Florida back in June 2023 to attend a wedding utilizing Avelo airlines. On the morning of departure 10/12/23 we received a text message of a 8 hr delay so instead of leaving the NCC airport at 2:10 pm on flight 503 and arriving 2hrs or so later the flight didn't leave until 10:30 pm that night We landed In Tampa 1am omg and had to scramble for our car reservation The company only offered a $50 airline credit good for a year only Since I don't travel via airline that's not money back in my pocket for my inconvenience on their part but monies they get to keep. I am not a happy customer and would not advise using Avelo airlines for any specific departure times or for special occasions I would advise them to be more customer considerate read more

This airport was like the size of my bedroom and had the organization of a riot. When we arrived there was chaos regarding where to go to drop your bags off. There were multiple lines and no one seemed to understand why they were standing where they were. That being said, they basically have one flight coming through here at a time. So, while it was a mess, it was a quick mess and everyone was in the same boat and trying to accomplish the same thing - get on the same plane. Overall it was pretty painless, but it was cramped and confusing. There was no food in the "terminal" except for vending machines. However, for $180.00 for two round-trip tickets, I'd endure a lot more. It wasn't glamorous or cushy, but the airport served its purpose. As far as security goes, it was pretty lax. They let people take shampoo and soaps and stuff on their carry-on's without giving them a hard time. On the way back we got to observe the less-than-sophisticated "baggage claim." Basically, they pull a truck up to a window and throw the bags on one-by-one. It was hilarious. I feel awful for the poor men that have that job. They don't have the benefits of conveyor belts or anything. One great thing that I'd be remiss if I didn't mention is that there was FREE PARKING! Woooooo hoooo. That's something you don't see every day. I'd definitely fly out of here again, pending that the tickets were super cheap again. No frills, no fuss. read more

AKA "Wilmington Airport" -- This is a cheaper alternative to flying into PHL and Frontier is the only airline as of right now that flies into this airport. The airport is extremely small so don't expect a bunch of options. There is one car rental company on-site, a cafe area, and two restroom areas. Nothing luxurious that you may expect from a large international airport. Just a practical, cheap alternative. If you have the time and travel on a budget like I do, riding the bus from the airport to the SEPTA/AMTRAK station and then taking the SEPTA train from Wilmington will be less than 8$ altogether. To travel about 40 miles from an airport, that is a bargain! *Tip: Plan your visit accordingly because the SEPTA train leaves from Wilmington every 2 hours after a certain time ~12:20ish PM. Getting from the airplane to the baggage claim was the shortest ever. Since it's a really small airport (smaller than Long Beach, CA if you have been there), the baggage claim was pretty makeshift. If you have time and on a budget, this is a cheaper alternative vs PHL. read more

I had a great experience here and will highly recommend you to consider this over Philly cause it has a lot of great things about it but there are also some things to keep in mind. Pros: - Easy to navigate! Only one gate so you can't get lost. - Cheap airfare. Around $80 per person when I went to Orlando, FL! - Free Parking! Cons: - Barely any food options. Only a cafe before security and vending machines after. - Not too much destinations to fly to but they aren't bad. (Orlando, Tampa, Chicago, Denver and Houston). So overall a great alternative to Philly and finally commercial air service from Wilmington, Delaware. I'd definitely recommend flying here if you want to save money. read more

Worst experience ever, and I have been through just about every major airport in the country. The workers are just plain rude, don't want to help you and make you feel stupid for asking questions. True it is small and not too crowded, literally one gate... Yes one gate. No food options other than vending machines. They open and search every single bag out in the open. Good by Philadelphia international airport and hello New Castle airport. This airport is located about 15 mins outside of Philadelphia airport. The airport was used mainly for by planes before frontier came into the picture. What really sets this airport aside from others is low fare and free parking. You can't best the two if you wanted to. I flew frontier out of New Castle Delaware about two weeks ago to Atlanta for $152.00 round trip which by far is the cheapest I have ever paid. Only downside is I had to pay for my carry on luggage because frontier offers two ticket price points. They are economy which is regular seating and you pay 25 bucks for first bag and then you have classics plus which is free bag and stretch seating( seating like first class). Out of this airport you can only fly to certain places like Atlanta , ft Myers ,Chicago , Denver , and Tampa . These flights fly out and come back Tuesday , Thursday and Sunday . Best friend lives in Atlanta so 125-155 roundtrip is a great deal. Will use many times . read more

I flew twice to Chicago in the past few weeks. I drove from Bensalem right down I-95. It took a little more than an hour. Parked for free, right next to the terminal (which is the size of a small office building). Checked my bag inside in under three minutes, went through security in five, sat in the terminal which is one foot from security, and walked out to my plane via a outdoor ramp. When I came home, walked off the plane, went to a literal whole in the wall that was baggage claim, and out to my car. All that took nine minutes. read more

Literally the single smallest airport I have ever seen in my life, but also pretty nice and super cheap - about $50 each way from Midway (in Chicago). Be warned, though - you do have to walk outside for about a block upon exiting the plane! The baggage claim is the size of the average dining table, and there are only two rooms to the entire airport. It's also a little easy to drive - no clear identifying signs. Definitely worth it for the cheap tickets, though, and the security there is super nice! read more

Tiny airport, which makes it pretty easy and quick. Just 1 gate at all. Security was surprisingly slow, but it would be hard to miss a plane here. Cheap fares and close to philly, this will be an airport I use again. And there is a Wawa just up the street. Hoagie to go in my bag. :) read more

Wow, now that's the way to do it! Flew to Chicago, CHEAP, park for free right at the door. Frontier does it right, no frills, go for the STRETCH seating. Off the plane and South on I-95 within minutes of landing. Gotta do this again, maybe Houston this time...or Florida... read more

Flew Frontier from Midway, Chicago to this airport for a super affordable ticket price. This airport seems to be used mainly for private charters and is tiny. Everyone from baggage/TSA/etc. were quite friendly. We were picked up by a friend to spend the weekend in Philly but there does seem to be a bus. read more

We flew from Wilmington to Chicago In July. The airport was wonderful. You can get to the airport 45 minutes before the flight(as long as your aren't checking a bag) and still have plenty of time to get through security. We had breakfast at Café Bama. Security was a breeze. There are bathrooms and snack machines in the waiting area. When you board, you take a ramp up which is not that bad. I highly recommend STRECH seating because you get to board first. Coming back, we literally walked off the plane and were driving home in our car within 3 minutes(We didn't check any bags). The baggage claim is pretty much a hole in the wall where they give you your bags. Overall, the airport was great and I will definitely fly from here again. read more

AWESOME! Flew for the first time by myself with two small children...so glad i didnt try this in Philly. Security was wonderful, kind, and helpful. Other flyers were very understanding as well. Only one gate, so you can't get lost. Parking is currently free and a short walk from the building. Love this place!! Just an FYI there is only one place to eat, but they do make boxed food for the plane (didnt try) and you do have to walk outside to get to plane, but still all worth it! read more

New Castle County Airport is a great place to fly out of. The airport is conveniently located with plenty of parking close to the terminal. I only gave it four stars because of the Airport Cafe. The only food available in the airport is coin operated snack machines and a small Cafe that is awful. I purchased a breakfast sandwich in the Airport Cafe. The sausage tasted rancid and was served on a tasteless, doughy roll. I observed roaches crawling on the floor near the cash register. This is not a tropical location, so there should not be roaches crawling around indoors near a food establishment. I'd like to see them get rid of that awful Cafe and put something in there with higher standards. read more
