Very disappointing experience. I scheduled a tour and was clearly told over the phone that someone would be present to show us the apartment and that I would be able to ask questions during the tour. However, when we arrived, they tried to send us on a self-guided tour, claiming that this was my request -- which is simply not true. I did have questions, as discussed in advance, but there was no one available to help. Instead of acknowledging the mistake or trying to resolve the situation, the staff chose to blame me and offered no real help. This level of miscommunication and lack of accountability is frustrating and unprofessional. I would not recommend based on this experience. read more

We stayed at Trestle on a short term lease while doing renovations. The property is well kept and the staff is pleasant. It is a good location. They have a few nice amenities, but we did not find much use for them. I would not recommend them for a few reasons: - Poor Onboarding Experience: I had to fill out a mountain of paperwork online using a very flaky website that did not make it clear what documents were needed or completed. And they make it sound like if you make a mistake they will not let you move in. - Noise: Building 1 is in front of a busy bus stop so you will hear beeping from the bus at all hours. There are also cars honking constantly when people make U turns at the nearby intersection. In the other hand there is no train noise even though it is adjacent to Caltrain. - Safety: The visibility of traffic when exiting the parking lot is very poor due to cars parked along El Camino right up to the exit. This makes leaving the complex very dangerous since you cannot see oncoming traffic on a busy road. The city repainted the curbs due to complaints, but on the wrong side of the exit which did nothing. It is a minor thing but the gates to the parking were frequently broken and the front doors were not very secure due to frequent deliveries and the doors being propped. - Mediocre Quality: The finishes in the apartment were cheap. There was existing water damage on the paint when we moved in. The appliances were a bit flaky. - Overpriced: We were paying a premium due to the short term lease and having a pet. We accepted that and those were the main reasons for choosing Trestle. However two issues came up that lowered our opinion of the company. First, when we needed to extend our lease by a month they offered a rate that was almost 2x so we had to find someplace else to stay. That was unreasonable given we were already paying an elevated cost and it cost nothing for them to extend our lease. Second, we cleaned our unit thoroughly before moving out and accepted we would pay something for the normal wear on the walls where furniture scratched the paint. Instead we got a large bill for full cleaning and full repaint. read more

we've been living here for about two years and we love it! staff, maintenance, and property managers have all been been wonderful. Kimberly and Nicole are both awesome human beings and a great team. Vik and Sage know what they're doing and are quick to respond to any maintenance needs. Prior to Kim, Virgina and prior to Virgina, Vanessa were the property managers. They were both amazing during their time at Trestle. Kim goes above and beyond to take care of you so you're in good hands here. She listens, follows up, and more importantly takes action to problem solving. The community itself is a beautiful property with many amenities, pools, gym, Amazon lockers, etc. only cons are, apartments on the pricier side. And although there are double paned windows, it can still be a bit noisy if it's a first floor unit facing El Camino. read more

Pros: -- Friendly, responsive office staff -- Great maintenance process and team -- Custodial staff keeps everything looking great -- Upper unit patios are designed to have a lot of privacy -- High ceilings, big windows Cons: **We hear our downstairs neighbors constantly Yes, the neighbors *below* us. Since they moved in, we've been woken up several mornings a week, and hear the kids running and slamming doors all day and night. This isn't the neighbors' fault -- kids make noise! -- but it speaks to how poorly constructed these buildings are. (Fan/white noise machine on high does nothing. Management said ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ ) ** Deliveries are a crapshoot -- Sometimes packages are left in the front vestibule (near the sign that says "don't leave packages here"), sometimes they're in the Amazon lockers, sometimes they're at our door or in front of the mailboxes, sometimes they get "lost in shipping" because there was a substitute driver who didn't know the process. -- Grocery and food deliveries are even worse, we constantly see Grubhub drivers walking back and forth looking for how to access the building (for our orders we give explicit instructions to go to the side door and we meet them downstairs) ** Latch keycard system is inconvenient -- You need the credit card sized card or your phone open to the Latch app to access the building (the cards are sensitive and you have to place them at just the right angle in front of the sensor). -- Sometimes the Latch app will log you out and other times the Latch card will no longer open certain doors. -- There's a code you can attempt to use but the numbers are really difficult to use and easy to fat finger (I work in tech, the hardware on the sensors is awful and I've had 3 friends who couldn't use it either). ** Poor shower design -- Giant drain cover that goes the length of the shower = 6 feet of ridges that catch hair and soap scum, it's both difficult and gross to clean (the night we moved I took a shower, the drain clogged and flooded the bathroom, I lifted the drain cover and the previous tenant's hair was stuck all in the cover) -- Under that drain cover is completely open to the pipes, so if you have hair, you will inevitably clog the drain. -- When the drain clogs, the water flows *out into the bathroom* instead of back into the shower (neat!) -- Giant walk-in shower, one tiny corner shelf. Nowhere to hang a caddy. No ledge or step for leg shaving. -- Standing water for hours and hours causes lots of mold -- -- Also no linen closets! Why?? ** Dog logistics -- The dog area is two patches of astroturf that isn't even gated, it's open to the back parking lot. -- No good track for walking, you have to cross El Camino if you want a proper walk. read more

What can we say about Trestle- other than we loved so much living here! We moved in during the Pandemic and the office team was so amazing and responsive, they made our move-in seamless and we felt supported trough out the entire process. Vanessa the manger at the time really took care of all of our questions and needs. We just move out last month and super sad to leave ( we bought a home out of state) if not we would still be living here. The property was taken care of and they kept amazing communication with all of us with any new updates with COVID and all other information for their residents. It's hard to include everything in this review about how great this apartment is, but I'll try. I've been living here for three months and have been really enjoying this place. Leasing Office -- Virginia and Raven are awesome. They're super friendly, welcoming, and very quick to respond to your concerns and questions. This was one of the main reasons why I chose Trestle over other apartment complexes. My last leasing office was one straight from hell. (They took months to fix things, they were angry or in a bad mood when I would go into their office to address the issue, and honestly just plain lazy to do their job). So it's great when the leasing office are happy and bubbly people that actually CARE for their tenants and their happiness while living at Trestle. Raven did a great job on my tour, she showed all the amenities (which look exactly like they do on the photos btw) and answered all my questions about the train tracks and I have to say, she was completely correct when she told me what to expect! Maintenance Crew -- Very fast and responsive! When I put in a work order they fix it the same day! Which means that you no longer have to have a headache about finding a plumber/handyman that might rip you off so you save TONS of money! Custodial Crew -- This team here does a fantastic job. They keep the hallways, elevators, amenities area, and even the garbage area clean! Amenities -- Oh man this is my favorite! The great thing is that if you're a resident you can reserve it for free! (My friends and I personally love the rooftop deck). The gym is definitely a bonus. Because it is a smaller complex, there's less people in the gym. Therefore it means you don't have to fight for your equipment! Most of the time when I'm in the gym I'm by myself and the most I've seen in there is probably two others and that's when I'm just leaving. And they provide TOWELS! For the pool and the gym. Plus the gym has a Peloton! They also have a think tank area for those who want a private area to study, work, or a new environment to make you productive. Trains -- If you're worried about the train tracks I wouldn't bother too much about it. Raven was correct when she explained how the noise would be when the trains run by. Trestle installed really thick windows that muffle the train noise and after living here I don't even notice the trains at all. I prefer to live on the train track side more than the El Camino side just because the trains do have a schedule so you'll always get peaceful sleep at night compared to the street with cars running all hours of the day. Latch System -- It's great, I've never had a problem with it. It's also nice when you can unlock your door several feet away and walk up to it and just open it! It's pretty simple to use and straight forward (My cleaners, guests, and friends can use it just fine with no issue) You can even add it onto your watch as well! Which is super handy in case you forget your phone. Garages! Garages! Garages! If you rent a 2br + you'll get your own garage. This is the FIRST time I've ever come across an apartment complex that gives you your own garage. It's great for storage! So you do save money on storage! Neighbors! This is a very involved community, the neighbors get along with each other, and even chat with each other. Trestle also hosts events and gatherings so it's nice to be able to meet new people. Cons : The only cons I can think of is the delivery of packages or your food drivers. I mean this is something out of trestle's control but Raven does a great job by going above and beyond and will make routine rounds around the neighborhood and ensure that any misallocated package gets delivered correct. (which is why the leasing office is great). But every time there is a misallocated package there's a general area I can go to and my package will always be there! (Tbh, I rather have a misallocated package in the apartment building, than a package that gets stolen) And the neighbors are so great about it! if there is something that was delivered wrong, they post on the community wall about the package so it just tells you how great this apartment building is. As for food drivers, I mean worst case scenario you walk out of the apartment to go pick up your food. (there's an elevator). So for those who complain about the food drivers, they're just lazy. Overall, For the price you pay for this apartment I think it's worth it. Trestle takes care of the Landscaping, power washing the parking lot, maintenance crew, custodial crew, amenities and events. You also get garage storage (compared to paying 100-300/month for outside storage). read more

All of the staff at Trestle have been super helpful and courteous - Natasha, Hellen, Thomas, Beto, Kim and the maintenance and janitorial staff. On the other hand, living on the ground floor, I could often hear the neighbors walking around upstairs. It's not a big deal if some muffled stomping bothers you, but with a child trying to sleep, it was a problem some nights. I know the neighbors weren't trying to do it intentionally because I checked, so I have to say the floor between us maybe didn't have the best insulation. read more

I moved into Trestle, one of the Promethus properties, June 2019. While I had a bigger unit for a smaller monthly rent in San Mateo, I was really attracted to the resident-first mentality and enamored by the amenities. Trestle offers outstanding amenities, a great fitness center, a large pool area, a business lounge, and a huge pool area. I used the amenities nearly every day. And it's understandable that you should since the rent is considerably higher but the high-end amenities justified it to me. I was also very impressed by the top tier leasing agent who showed me the property (Kimberly) and appreciated the empathy and understanding of Thomas (the property manager) who cared more about the spirit of the rules rather than the letter of the law. Fast forward in time to COVID-19. When things are going well, it's hard to complain. But they say that a crisis really brings out the true character of a person. At this point, Kimberly and Thomas and the other members of the Trestle staff have long since been promoted to new positions elsewhere. The amenities are also now closed for an indefinite period of time - amenities that were a significant factor in the price. They are not mere extras - they are extended as part of the offer to come to Trestle. And unlike area gyms which are suspending membership and working with people, Trestle has offered absolutely no rental concessions at all. In fact, the new manager (as of earlier this year) simply sends out generic form responses rather than showing empathy and thinking about proper responses. Trestle needs to bring Thomas back to managing the property. From March through June I was paying a high price for a unit and for closed amenities. I never got any reasonable concessions for the loss of services. I finally moved out in June of this year. Again the move out forms were generic forms that I filled out to be told they weren't even allowing us to reserve elevators and were not doing a walk out with me to check the property. So many red flags. Trestle needs new management that understands how to work with trying times. And last but not least, I have a refund coming for my deposit and I'm told it has to be sent by check only. This is the 21st century. I've been paying the rent by EFT since I moved in. But now all of a sudden they can only mail paper checks. Again, not acceptable. They say that a crisis shows the true character of a person. And I'm very sad to see what Trestle has become these past few months. I'm glad to have moved away. read more

We are rounding out two years at Trestle and can honestly say it is one of the best properties at this price in the area, based on 5+ years of experience renting around the mid Peninsula. Let's start with the downsides though: - Trains are loud, sometimes shake the building, and railroad construction often happens at night - El Camino Real is loud, dangerous, and unpredictable - There is very little green space on the property but many dogs, making it a bit awkward when it's time to take the dogs out and we're all standing in the bushes - We do have tragedy of the commons style problems such as neighbors putting trash in the compost, blocking each other's garages, failing to pick up after their dogs, etc - These are still very expensive apartments That said, the apartments themselves are really nice - an order of magnitude better than anything you are going to find at this price from Mountain View to San Mateo. The front office staff are super helpful (Vanessa and Kelin especially!) and the maintenance team has been really fast and helpful whenever we have had an issue. To summarize the upsides: - Newer, better construction than the vast majority of other apartments at this price, including almost all of Prometheus' other properties - Caltrain access is incredibly convenient for anyone working in a downtown office from SJ to SF - Appliances, HVAC, finishes, etc are great - On-site staff who actually try to help residents - Private off-street parking (finally no more tickets or smashed windows) - Access controlled buildings for significantly fewer package theft issues than we've seen elsewhere Taken as a whole, I really like our apartment. The only persistent factors that would push us out are (1) inevitable rent increases as Prometheus tracks the market and doesn't negotiate (2) El Camino Real being much too fast and busy for a residential block. read more

Many of us are moving as soon as we are on parole. Sold my house and never again will I live in a apt. The old team of Kim and Beto have moved on and this place is now a poorly run annoying dump. I hesitate to post this because of retaliation but with other Apts giving rent relief for lack of amenities and services due to Pandemic this family owned business could take care of their neighbors a lot better. If we need service we were told to try and fix it ourselves. I've got a PhD in engineering so I'm fine but many others here are just as worn out and discouraged as I am. We missy Beto. The apartment itself is nice and spacious. But when it comes to getting an issue resolved from the apartment complex office, don't get your hopes up for a quick response . How many times does your reserved parking spot need to be taken within a 2 week period before the leasing office takes action? If you are a reasonable person your answer would probably be once maybe even twice. If your are the trestle apartment leasing office, the answer is closer to 5 times. I have tried everything on my end: calling the office multiple times, going to the leasing office, calling the tow company directly. But when I call I get empty promises, when I go to the office no one is ever there, when I call the towing company they say they are waiting for trestles manager permission to tow. I have yet to see an apartment complex with a staff behaving so aloof and frankly uninterested towards a problem which is affecting my everyday living. read more

From our tour with Beto to the past 4 1/2 months living here, we have been very satisfied! Our apartment is beautiful and spacious and has great appliances. Any issues or questions we've had have been quickly fixed or answered by the front office and maintenance. The amenities (including pool, hot tub, gym, lounge, rooftop patio and "think thank") are kept in great (clean) condition by the on-site cleaning crew. We love that we can walk to so many restaurants and shops and have friendly respectful neighbors! Virginia and Raven go above and beyond to help us with all of our needs, problems, or missing packages at any hour of the day. Lived here for 3 years or so and it was so much better in the beginning. I guess that's why honeymoon periods are a thing. Pros: Pre - COVID it's such an awesome location! Downtown is walkable with really good food and entertainment. There's an occasional homeless person who goes thru the area in the middle of the night 6-10x a night shouting obscenities but you won't find too many safety issues walking the streets at night by yourself. Caltrain is right behind and not noisy as long as the double-paned windows are fully down. Whether you work in the city or SV, it's not a bad commute IMO. Cons: My two biggest gripes are that the team refused even consider negotiating prices when most of their amenities were closed down, most apartments had fantastic lowered prices / specials, and this place is EXPENSIVE. In the last few months I've chatted with neighbors who were moving out of the complex specifically for the cost vs. value ratio and it's not there at all. Now my former spot is up for $600+ at a lower price and I will NOT consider a Prometheus ever again. The second gripe is that a few months ago someone hit and run 6+ cars in the garage during the middle of the night and the management response was to hire a security guard to sit in his/her car on the main road and browse the web. No apologies, no compensation for what is managements fault, instead let's keep throwing money at a garage door that keeps breaking down. Let's also not invest in security cameras where a situation like this won't happen again where someone cannot be ID'ed. I recognize that security guards can make a citizens arrest if a felony has taken place or attempted. But how does that help with the recent issues of people who don't live in the property and entering the complex by using backpacks / jackets to open doors from the outside? Or only through word of mouth or the neighbors talking about their observations of strangers entering someone's patio or backpacks / bags full of stuff being hidden in bushes to only disappear a few hours later? Call me crazy but yes a security guard on the premise is a good step in the right direction but how can 1 or 2 people for a 2 part large complex really support the safety and quality of life expected for those who now live in their homes for both personal and professional? I shouldn't have to pay $4,000+ a month for: - poop covered sidewalks (human or animal) that only get cleaned after a ton of people complain online. I'm not talking about a few smears but the sidewalk and parking areas are smeared to the point where I always have to pay attention to the ground to avoid stepping in old / new ones - a garage door that never works - doors to the buildings and areas that are easy to enter - potentially our stuff being stolen from patios and with no support from the office, neighbors have to rely on each other to collaborate on stories / observations - packages that never get delivered on time, right areas, and constantly being stolen without any camera coverage - monthly quarantine friendly events that don't provide anything to help my safety or quality of life - also no enforcement of county and rules of social distancing. There's still people crowded in the pool areas with no enforcement of the reservation rules. You can book the common area but with two different family groups who don't live together and with no mask enforcement. TLDR: Go somewhere else with your hard-earned money. San Mateo and Redwood City has apartments with much lower rates, WANT to help you renew your lease, and have realized that retention is less costly vs. new tenants. This office / team was way better in the beginning and would listen to feedback to find a solution. Since then it's been high turnover and the most basic needs are not being met especially for the price. They'll share daily good words or announcements but that doesn't do anything at the end of the day. read more

The community is newly built, close to some great shops and a Caltrain station, and it comes with some of the finest amenities and finishes. The feel and warmth of this newly built community is unlike any other apartment community I've lived in. Having previously lived in Irvine Company apartments, the colors, accents and overall welcoming feel of Trestle exceeds even that. The staff are super friendly. I can't wait to take my mom on the Caltrain up to downtown San Francisco from the station right around the corner. It's only a 30 minute train ride. That will save me a lot of miles and depreciation on my car. San Carlos's Laurel Street is beautifully lit up right around the other corner from the community. Dog friendly neighborhood is definitely a must for me and they allow that here too. Like the company says, "I am home." read more

Not only are the apartments gorgeous, but they've focused on the aesthetic of the entire community and their attention to detail shows around each corner. The entire front staff is so friendly, welcoming and, most importantly, very competent. They're quick to respond to any and all requests and questions. It's very dog friendly, close to the train (without any noise issues) and walking distance to restaurants, shops and the Sunday Farmers Market! We are so glad we found Trestle! read more

Moving far from home is never easy. Between getting situated to my new environment and looking for new places to stay, I felt very overwhelmed. However, coming into Trestle apartments for a tour, the service manager, Daniel M., did not show me an apartment complex, he showed me a home. He, along with the several other staff, were extremely friendly and made me feel welcomed in an unknown environment. A TOUR BEYOND TOURS !! Kimberly Diaz goes over and beyond the 5 star rating posted above! From the original art in the hallways to the high tech features(security, blinds, train/traffic silence, modern closets )...; Kimberly addressed any question I may have had before even asking. By the time the tour was completed, I was totally impressed. Her customer service (including taking a panoramic picture on my phone of the apartment)is exceptional; she is definitely the right person to welcome people when they walk through the door!!! read more

I'm currently at Trestle as a short term resident and booked my apartment thru a travel site. I received a text stating the building codes were down... and every entrance here needs a code. I was a bit annoyed, as I was tired and just wanted to check in ASAP after driving over 6 hours. You're asked not to inquire with leasing agent, but after driving in from LA, I was at my wits end after trying to follow the given instructions. Thank goodness for Beto! So accommodating, knowledgeable and sweet. He throughly explained how to get into every area and the app usage...and he didn't have to do this. Also informed me of a local market to buy wine, which I needed! So nice to know people will still go out of their way to help a stranger in need. read more

Hands down the best experience when looking for apartments. We looked at apartments in Burlingame, San Mateo, Foster City, Belmont and Hillsborough. Kimberly at Trestle blew us away with her hospitality and in-depth knowledge about how these apartments and amenities were built. We had a lot of questions and she was so wonderful to work with. The apartments are beautiful, and it feels great to be a part of a community that takes pride in the small details (salt water pool, keyless app activated door locks, THICK WINDOWS so the Caltrain sound isn't bothersome). We have been living here for a few weeks now and love the neighborhood as well. We chose this place for the whole package: apartment, location next to the Caltrain, the neighborhood and the amazing team here on-site (Kimberly, Beto and Thomas; I can't say enough about how easy and enjoyable they have made it for us to move in). This is a wonderful community and I highly recommend it!! My husband and I just moved in about a week ago from NY and we still feel as welcome as we did on our tour here. Everyone here is so warm and welcoming (not just the awesome staff, even the tenants!) Our building and the grounds are always clean, I feel extremely safe and even though we're close to the train (which is a huge plus for my husband's commute) the train noise is barely noticeable. We love how modern + up to date everything is here (keyless entry/Nest thermostat/stainless steel appliances/slow close doors/etc)- if you are considering apartments in the area don't hesitate to visit them, we almost didn't because we wanted to live in Redwood City but I am SO glad we didn't take Trestle off of our list of places to see. If you need anything the staff are always on top of it. This is also a great location for walking to shops & restaurants :) we're big on first impressions and these guys are really great! read more

When they say, "Welcome Home" as their tag line, they really mean it! I was one of the first tenants to move into the newly completed complex and I am so glad I did. I came here during a difficult life transition and the staff at Trestle was so welcoming, kind, fun, and professional. The amenities are fantastic - I feel like I live at a resort. A resort that is our home. The customer service that goes above and beyond combined with the beautiful apartment and grounds will keep me calling Trestle home for a long time to come. read more
