I believe one of the most striking features of these apartments is the square footage you get for the price. You would be hard pressed to find a 1-bedroom between 700-950 square feet for less than what is charged here on the peninsula or in this area, ask me how I know!! The units also have ample closet space (my 1 bedroom has FOUR closets (not even including the kitchen storage) and a large lockable carport storage box. In addition, the kitchens here are huge with more storage space than you'll know what to do with (usually apartments at this price range have the opposite problem). The community is also well maintained with great landscaping + the entire community received a fresh coat of paint in the summer and fall of '23. Maintenance requests are also a breeze and anything you request gets taken care of relatively quickly! The cherry on top is definitely the management. Jennifer, Ane, and Kelly are extremely responsive to all questions and problems we have, not to mention accommodating and understanding when it comes to getting other things worked out. They are the best! My only complaint is that there is no W/D in most of the units, but for the price that is not surprising! Echoing what I said above, you are not finding a unit with W/D with this square footage in this area for less than $2,500 unless your mom's friend's cousin cuts you a deal on their second property . Anyway, big takeaways are that the units here are huge, the community is well maintained, and the management is fantastic. Save yourself some time and check this place out! PS, for the cat lovers out there, they only charge a one time $1,000 per deposit for the entire time you live there (for up to two cats). In my apartment search I saw no other place that does this, usually you have to pay $50-$100 extra per pet per month. Yes it hurts up front, but it saves you a ton of money in the long run! Both Freddie and John make a great team. Their fixes on the appliances have always been better than the appliance's original condition or like new ! Communication with the leasing agents have also been very good with quick response time, especially with Samuel Vazquez. Clubhouse is always clean and kept in order. There never seemed to be any big miscommunication issues between different teams at Shadow Cove. One caveat would be noise from upstairs tenants at 7AM, but earplugs and both Samuel and Freddie helped communicate between me and the upstairs tenants to quiet down.

Now I will keep this as short as I possibly can, even though there is so much to say about this place. Read other reviews for confirmation as well. Pictures are also posted. I was a tenant at Shadow cove from Jan 2023 - May 2024. Here are some truths and things they will not tell you. NOISE. There is always loud noise. From construction to yard maintenance. There is always something. They also had to do construction on at least 3 or more units connected to my unit or are around me. Noise just does not stop here. THIN WALLS. You can hear muffled conversations from other units. Sneezing and definitely snoring as well. PARKING. You only get 1 space so don't believe them when they tell you that there will be "plenty" of parking spaces available on the street. You will find yourself walking a few blocks away from the whole complex every time. Then there's the additional walk to where your unit will be. FLOODING. I suggest checking out this place on rainy season, if possible, as it floods very bad here. Also, walk around the complex and you will see sand bags in front of some of the doors on lower level units. Even if you take the upstairs unit, there is plenty of low spots that water can accumulate throughout the complex where you have to walk through. Some have it worse where it accumulates right in front of their doors. WATER SHUT OFFS. Expect plenty of them by hours at a time. INTERIOR. Don't let the fancy look fool you. Its just a cover up. Washer/Dryer is small. Dishwasher barely works due to circuit breaker keeps popping. Kitchen sink gets clogged. Had to replace the fridge while I was there due to leaking. Washer started leaking the first weeks of moving in. Bathtub is just an insert or one big cover so you will quickly see mold growing out of seams and sealants. DEPOSIT!! They will keep your deposit and charge you cleaning and steaming fee. They will claim as if prior to moving in was clean and spotless when it was not, as you can see in the pictures provided. Then make you responsible for the cleaning fees when moving out. I have been a good and patient tenant there. I Did not disturb anyone. No noise complaint from me, even though I am always the one that gets bothered. Kept the place clean and even left the place just as clean moving out. They will still find a way to keep your deposit through a cleaning+steaming fee and an additional rent fee( which was fully paid before moving out) Definitely something wrong here. If you have read this far, just know that THERE IS A REASON WHY THIS PLACE HAS VERY BAD REVIEWS and a lot of vacant units. Just walk away and avoid the headaches. There are plenty of "better" choices all throughout Foster City/San Mateo area. Surround yourself and your life with positive people and places. Not desperate people and companies that they run. Especially those that do not know the value of customers/tenants. Spend your hard earner money somewhere else along with a peace of mind that you did not end up at shadow cove.

After living in their apartment for 8 months my impression is very different. Pets welcome, but dog pee area consists of a thin layer of rocks that was never cleaned in the time I lived there, except for the one time I sprayed them down. The repair/construction crew used to sit under my window and eat lunch, leaving their debris behind. They'd often drop screws, nails in the drive. I had to replace my tire. They borrowed my waterhose many times, and the last time took the nozzle off and put it on their hose to do concrete work. I had to go look for it, and the man was confrontational and unapologetic. The nozzle was corroded and filthy. Manager bought a new one and left it at my front door. I signed a 6 mo lease when I moved from the tiny studio into the 1-bedroom. At the time I had no complaints and didn't realize the situation there was going to deteriorate so quickly. I wasn't told that when I moved into the 1-br my water bill would go from $14/mo to $109. The rent was extremely high already but I wanted to stay in the area. I requested to be released from my lease because, as a travel nurse, I was potentially changing jobs and needed to move. Manager never acknowledged my email, nor texts I sent afterwards. I paid my rent for my last full month and then she used my security deposit for the remaining TWO WEEKS left on my lease. Still haven't received the $52 left from my security deposit. When I moved, I left the apt cleaner than when I moved in (I had to clean it when I moved in, compensated $100 towards rent.) Community laundromat works by quarters or an app that may or may not work when you need it to. Two washers, two dryers. No central air. I bought a 10,000 btu portable air conditioner that, running all day on the coolest setting could only cool the apt to 88 degrees. Impossible to reach the manager, and when she feels like responding to you she doesn't answer your question. The apts are emptying and I can see why. Cute buildings on the outside, dirty and unkept in every other way. Very unprofessionally run facility.
