After living in their apartment for 8 months my impression is very different. Pets welcome, but dog pee area consists of a thin layer of rocks that was never cleaned in the time I lived there, except for the one time I sprayed them down. The repair/construction crew used to sit under my window and eat lunch, leaving their debris behind. They'd often drop screws, nails in the drive. I had to replace my tire. They borrowed my waterhose many times, and the last time took the nozzle off and put it on their hose to do concrete work. I had to go look for it, and the man was confrontational and unapologetic. The nozzle was corroded and filthy. Manager bought a new one and left it at my front door. I signed a 6 mo lease when I moved from the tiny studio into the 1-bedroom. At the time I had no complaints and didn't realize the situation there was going to deteriorate so quickly. I wasn't told that when I moved into the 1-br my water bill would go from $14/mo to $109. The rent was extremely high already but I wanted to stay in the area. I requested to be released from my lease because, as a travel nurse, I was potentially changing jobs and needed to move. Manager never acknowledged my email, nor texts I sent afterwards. I paid my rent for my last full month and then she used my security deposit for the remaining TWO WEEKS left on my lease. Still haven't received the $52 left from my security deposit. When I moved, I left the apt cleaner than when I moved in (I had to clean it when I moved in, compensated $100 towards rent.) Community laundromat works by quarters or an app that may or may not work when you need it to. Two washers, two dryers. No central air. I bought a 10,000 btu portable air conditioner that, running all day on the coolest setting could only cool the apt to 88 degrees. Impossible to reach the manager, and when she feels like responding to you she doesn't answer your question. The apts are emptying and I can see why. Cute buildings on the outside, dirty and unkept in every other way. Very unprofessionally run facility.

I had been looking diligently since the first week of February 2015 and felt moments of depression, confusion, rejection mixed with some very few hopeful moments that I would secure a place before the 1st of April - when I had to get out of my place after living there for 6 yers. When Ben contacted me, he explained that I was the first applicant to apply and that we'd be working together on the entire process. What? First come first serve? After all the open houses I had been to and seeing the slew of applicants, apt hunting felt like a job interview and was incredibly stressful! Ben told me that this way is really the only "fair" way to process applicants. This was NEWS to me and good news! I was first! Yay! They always help me to bring Parcels to the front door of my apt, if I come home late. Great location. It locates next door of broadway, walking distance to grocery, walgreen and plenty of great restaurants. Also it's easy to get on 101 and 280. Big space and good price. All of the tenants are respectful and quiet, and the rent is very low for the Burlingame area. Anytime I ever had a problem with the apartment, it was fixed within 24 hours. The only downside is that this is an older building so the walls are definitely thin, but everyone is deeply respectful of that. I'd live here again in a heartbeat!

The office staff and maintenance are very friendly. They even accept packages for you if you are at work and keep them in the office till you can pick them up. The location is great for me and the hubby as I work in SF and he works in the South Bay. I love San Mateo itself and being here you can get to all parts without driving on 101. I can even walk to the farmer's market at CSM on Weds or Sat or to Piazza/Safeway for groceries. We are lucky enough to have an end apartment on the third floor with a great view of the bay and the San Mateo Bridge. On clear days we can see the East Bay. Fireworks on the 4th were fun to watch. As mentioned, there is a pool, sauna (never used it though) small weight room, extra storage and covered gated parking. We originally had a 1 bedroom and when our family expanded we were able to move to a 2 bedroom 1 1/2 bath over 1000 sq ft. There are lots of closets which I of course have filled.

While I waited I was able to sip some Kombucha in the front lobby that tasted very good. What makes this property stand out to me is the views from the top floor units. I highly suggest you take a look at the units higher up facing west. Very beautiful views of Hillsborough, nature, and Burlingame. During the sunset hour, the sunlight pours into the unit giving it this golden look that is very cozy and warm. Cons: A few cons to keep in mind is that I noticed most of the units did not have balconies, only a few did. Parking in the area is also very tough I circled around the area 4 times to find a slot, be sure to just park in the garage in Future guest parking. Overall great location, close to SFO airport, easy access to 101 Freeway, and Downtown Burlingame.
