Two, because there's not a ton of foot traffic in the area. It's such in a very convenient and lowkey area. It's very close to the pedestrian bridge, but it doesn't get too crowded in that area. Even when there are festivals and events going on. I also appreciate how there's a healthy amount of seating in the area for those who want to lounge.

The views of the cityscape were lovely; Point Street Bridge, the Michael S. Van Leesten Bridge, downtown, the 3-iconic smoke stacks, and College Hill. We were exploring the area and it was very walkable and pedestrian friendly. The new steel and wood bridge connects it with the 195 District Park and the Providence Pedestrian Bridge aka Michael S. Van Leesten bridge. There were benches throughout. It's close to restaurants, bars, and cafes. Definitely a great place to take a stroll!

Enter the walkway from Dyer St and on your right, cross the newly opened little bridge parallel to the river. You are now on the Urban Coastal Greenway to Point St. Park. Or, walk straight, cross the pedestrian bridge over the river, turn right and follow the walkway to a new open greenspace. Either way, these new segments of the East Coast Greenway bring green spaces, places to bike, walk, meet up, and be with nature by a running river. There are plans to bring even more food vendors to the park during warm months on the west side of the river by Dyer St. This is in addition to the food trucks that park on the east side by the pedestrian bridge already. Beer? Coffee? Music? Snack? This park is becoming the place to be.

Currently, The Guild PVD Beer Garden and various food trucks are there from May to October. There is also an ice cream vendor. The park connects with Point Street Park. The whole area is beautiful and well kept. A fun place to take a stroll, get some food nearby since it's central to everything, or food from the food truck, beers, and ice cream for dessert. When the weather is nice, this park is a great place to visit with beautiful views of the river and cityscape.

Newly opened trail in East Greenwich. Still not 100% cleared and ready, but I did a little…read moreexploration anyway. Right off Tillinghast Rd, this is a great addition to East Greenwich. A couple of hills, but nothing too steep, and they are manageable. Paved parking lot, but the entrance is unpaved. Two trails have recently been cleared, so it's not overgrown yet, and some nice views. When it officially opens, it will be even better.

The Providence Station opened in 1986. It has four passenger tracks and a fifth for freight trains…read more Amtrak and MBTA Commuter Trail are the servers. This is the 2nd busiest rail on the outskirts of Boston. There were benches under a large dome and a large clock tower. The customer service desks were placed along the perimeter; there were screens throughout showing the departure and arrivals. The location is central to everything; near the Providence Place Mall and RI State House. I've used this station numerous times now; I would take it to Boston. I've had good experiences.

The Amtrak Station Park was designed and built by Rhode Island Department of Transportation. In…read more2018, the Providence Parks Department assumed maintenance of the park. There are many benches to sit and nice paved paths to walk around. It's a small park, about a city block in size. In the Spring of 2020, the Park services added landscaping making it greener and more sustainable. This is a cute urban park where people can sit on the benches and wait for the MBTA or Amtrak passengers to meet them outside the station. It's located above the train parking garage.

Washington is another of the increasing number of bike paths that are appearing in Rhode Island…read more it's actually three or four smaller ones that they finally connected, so it's about ten miles or so. Not a lot but still not bad for a causal ride. Hopefully in the future it will extend all the way to Connecticut. Even though it is pretty cool, it still can't compare to Blackstone or East Bay bike paths. It just doesn't have any hills or much variation in the scenery. It goes though the woods and by a lot of old buildings but has quite of few busy road crossings. Requires stopping and caution so you don't get run over. Frequently one nice person will stop at the crossing but the idiot coming from the other side will ignore the cross walk and turn you into a grease spot in the middle of the road if you aren't paying attention. Washington does have some cool old bridges and some neat old mills and historic buildings on the side of the road, including a soap factory that smells really nice One of the best things about the bike path is the interesting variety of people that use it. I once had a older gentleman sitting by the side of the path offer me a beer as I was going by. Another woman had some freshly baked cookies she was handing out. Thank you very much. I have also seen a woman who tows her old dog in a cart behind her bike and a man with a huge cockatoo on his shoulder. The last time I went I took pictures of a man and woman with two African Grey Parrots on the back on their bikes. Quite surprising to hear the birds scream hello at me as I went by. Not the best biking for some serious spinning but the eclectic group of people always makes for a fun ride to socialize and relax.

Over the last two years this bike path has suffered from maintenance issues…read more There are stretches along this bike path full of road cracks, bumps, broken trees, graffiti, over-grown bushes, etc. Despite its flaws, the bike path provides some scenic views near West Warwick and Coventry. While not as spotless as the East Bay Bike Path or Blackstone River Bikeway, the Washington Secondary Bike Way is a nice bike path.

I'm not sure if many people still use this path but it's pretty nice and secluded and branches off to a few different areas. Along the trail you'll pass a small waterfall, ponds and bogs. It eventually leads to a lake in the back which made the hike totally worth it.

We tried both ways and enjoyed the visible parking lot more. Well marked trail that isn't too difficult (well maybe the part with the views is a little harder).

There's a couple of ways to access this park, depending on if you're here for boating or hiking. If you're here for boating, there's a large lot on Ross Road, between Old Furnace and Ross Pond. If you're here for hiking, there's a nice large lot at the northern end, off of S Frontage Road. There are a number of trails here, and you can make a pretty good day out of it if you want to take a decent hike. The west side of the pond is up on a ridge, where rock climbers have attached ropes at the vista areas, possibly semi permanently. There are some nice views here of the pond, and the trails are mostly well blazed. The Blue Blazed Old Furnace Trail could use some reblazing, but the other trails were fine. A nice little park to check out if you are at this end of CT.
