This is the mini-golf and Go-Kart place just behind, and associated with, Control Tower, the fast food - soft ice cream place right on the edge of the airport. Continuing our comprehensive review of every miniature golf course in an hour's radius of Lock 7... The miniature golf is a mixed bag. The setting in great: right along some beautiful marsh grass and woods and literally right on the fence of the north runway of Albany International, where you can watch the planes taking off and landing, at least if you go there during the peak hours and the weather is right. There are two water courses running through the course, one from a mountain/waterfall, the latter of which seems to be out of operation right now (and the lack thereof cuts down on the ambiance a bit.) There are nice plantings and flowers, and good lights for evening play, but it's pretty loud - they run loud contemporary rock music over the loudspeakers, and with the go-karts and the wind and the airport traffic, it's not exactly tranquil, but it is lively. The course itself is "schtick-free"; while the holes are named after various international airports, they are strictly putting challenges, with no windmills or evil clowns or water-leaping or multilevel barns or anything like that. The holes are up-and-down and side-to-side, with a few bank shot opportunities. The maintenance is mediocre; the holes were clean of debris, but threadbare astroturf and putting mats badly need replacement, and the holes themselves had pushed up from the surrounding green (or the latter had pushed down, take your pick), so they are "lippy", like having a tiny little mountain you need to get over to get in the hole. On the plus side there are flags in every putting hole, which is a nice classy touch. I also note this is the only miniature golf course I've seen that I can remember, and I've probably been on a hundred or more over the years, that did not have a "hole in one-free game" hole on the 18th hole; the 18th hole was completely conventional, and you have to return your ball by hand to the shack. $6 for adults, $4 for 5-12, less for 2-5 year olds but not free ($3 or $2 I think). The go-karts are above average, though; it's a medium-length course with a small ess-curve at one end, that rises and falls a bit, is well-maintained, and the karts run well. They have two-seaters and if your kid is over 4' 6" or so they can ride themselves. Go karts $5 but you can get a combination pass with miniature golf that shaves a couple bucks off doing them individually. Plusses: proximity to Control Tower, the ice cream joint (see reviews for it under the Control Tower Yelp entry) and for friendly service. Mini golf = 3 stars, go-karts = 4 stars, we decided to rank this at three stars because the golf is mostly what we care about.

A nice improvement over last time I was here.

They have little pirate stories on each of the hole signs if you like to read about the history they created for this course. The prices are reasonable, the staff was friendly and it's in a great location close to downtown Lake George tourist community. I'd recommend to take your family here for a fun hour of mini golf. We all had fun!

What a fantastic golf course! My friend and I have tried just about every mini golf course within…read more90 minutes of Albany and this is one of the best. The greens are kept in perfect shape with no ruffled turf, loose bricks, piles of leaves, etc. The (very blue) waterfall was working and added ambiance. Scattered throughout the course are interesting pirate vignettes and facts, and the caves and bridges added to the experience. The course itself is a bit different from most others. Many courses add artificial challenges (sand bunkers, gravel areas, missing sidewalls near water, windmills, etc.) to make it difficult. Here, every hole is straightforward. And most of them are short. Therefore, it is best to approach it as each hole could (should?) be doable as a hole-in-one. And I got two, my friend got another two, and everyone around us was getting them. Does that mean the course is too easy? No, not at all. But, it isn't a course where you should be taking more than 2-3 putts to get it in the cup. There are no dogleg holes, etc. which add length. Some of the holes have fun twists. I won't give away the surprises, but there were several areas that led to good (and bad!) unexpected results. Play it out and you will see what I mean. The staff were friendly, and they had at least six different sized putters making it possible to get the perfect fit. The prices ($13) were certainly reasonable and comparable to other courses. It was packed on Saturday on a holiday weekend, but because the holes are so short everything kept on flowing nicely. Overall, a wonderful course.

We came here for ice cream. For the ice cream alone, this would be 3 stars. But with the food (we…read moredidn't order any, but it looked really good), the outdoor area, and the mini-golf course, the whole is greater than the sum of its parts. The ice cream was okay. It's limited to about a dozen flavors between hard and soft. The hard ice cream flavors (we got hard ice cream this time) were more traditional, the soft ice cream flavors were more creative and interesting. Prices were about the same for similar sizes, though, but $4 and change for a small dish seemed slightly above average compared to the same amount elsewhere. Then again, there's nothing else that close to this place with whom to be competitive. Spoons aren't available here unless you order ice cream. The spoons are plastic, looking more like they're designed for iced tea or milkshakes, with long, slender, flimsy handles, and only teaspoon-sized for scooping. That's fine for a shake or soft ice cream, but they were a bit too flimsy for digging into hard ice cream. The flavors could have been a little stronger too, though the stuff in the special flavors (e.g., the Moose Tracks), made up for it. This is a fine place to go if you're looking for a meal with ice cream, or mini-golf plus food or drink. Then again, there's nothing else like it for many miles in any direction.

Not only did she cover the ice cream, she gave me an extra cup of sprinkles! We also played mini golf and the course is very well manicured and a great level of challenge. I appreciated that it had real obstacles (versus just flat pictures of them). I would definitely come back here if I was in the area again!
