The experience I had was to be honest the worst you could have, and I never even did business with this company. Doesn't matter if your a home owner or a renter, but as long as you are a resident of mercer county you are billed by tri-county industries even if they are not providing service to you on the spot which seems illegal (which it is). After you refuse service or deny any bill that is placed in your mail box they threaten you with an ordinance that exists in mercer county which supports the idea that you must have a trash service provider (not naming tri-county industries). Tri-county Industries is the sole bidder on a waste management contract within the county, but as for the ordinance it does not name tri-county industries in any of such paper work, and does not represent them directly. By knowing they cannot sue you directly for an account that is neither yours or is lawful to begin with means they must knowingly know the county has to step in at some point, but since an unlawful ordinance can be reversed tri-county industries has no real leg to stand on in terms of going after you in any legal manner. There main website has no service termination option, and by calling in you get no real response in terms of ending any such service. That by definition is a shady practice, but that has not stopped them from showing up to your property and just randomly giving you a trash bin and billing you for a service you never signed up for. Tri-County Industries is the worst company I've ever dealt with. We never knew our payment didn't go through in April (Capital One switched from Master Card to Discover) until we got the termination of service notice in the physical mail. Their customer service is only available Monday through friday 8am - 5pm. The online chat is only available this time also. Once we got the notice n May 29th, I immediately updated the card and told them to take my payment - they never did. Two weeks go by and they email me a late charge - I saw red. I attempted the online chat option after work that day, I didn't know they were only available until 5 at this time. I left messages and the next day someone did respond. She reviewed our case, saw the receipts and assured me the payment was processing - it was not. Wednesday, I got an automated call from them as a payment reminder. I exploded. I called at lunch - 15 minute wait time, we'll return your call and you won't lose your place - they never called. Being impatient and not wanting to wait for a call back. I tried the online chat function again during the 8-5 time frame- literally no response in the 4 hours i had the chat window open. In the messages I explained the situation and wanted to know why they still had not taken our payment. We never received notice from them or the bank that there was an issue. So why haven't they taken my payment. Yesterday almost a month after I updated my card and told them to take my payment they finally processed it. Just in time for the next payment to be due. PLEASE SAVE YOURSELF THE MONEY, TIME, AND FRUSTRATION AND DO NOT USE TRI-COUNTY INDUSTRIES WASTE REMOVAL SERVICES UNLESS YOU HAVE ABSOLUTELY NO OTHER OPTIONS. let me explain my experience with this absolutely terrible company. I work for a smaller manufacturing facility we are closing part of our facility. we ordered a 30-yard dumpster so we could get rid of the things we are not keeping. The dumpster was delivered, I filled the dumpster and had them come and get it we were left with another empty dumpster which I filled again. that was OVER a week ago. We cannot get them to return to get us another dumpster. I am at a complete stand-still with this project because they refuse to come and get their dumpster. EVERY DAY I go and check the dumpster and it's sitting there still full from over a week ago. EVERY DAY I go back to my office and either I call tri-county or the Plant manager calls and EVERY DAY we are told one of two things, "we picked that up yesterday" which is factually and objectively WRONG or "we will have someone out today to get it" which has been a LIE every day this week. I have no idea how this company is in business if this is how they treat their paying customers. It is absolutely ASTONISHING to me that this is even legal because it certainly isn't acceptable at all. We 100% will be going through another company for our waste removal services and if I have any personal or future business needs for waste removal Tri-county will NOT be on my list of service providers to look into. read more

Thursday June 4 was supposed to be "junk day" for Findley Twp. We placed at the curb: one very old metal log splitter, one disassembled hockey net, and one deflated bouncy house. None of the items was very heavy. Nothing was picked up. I waited to see if they would pick up the next day. No luck. I called Tri County. She said she would put in a work order to get it picked up the next day, Friday. A garbage man came the next day, sat in his truck at the road and looked at the stuff and drove off! Today is Monday June 8 and my junk is still down by the road. I called Tri County again, They said I would have to "bundle" the bouncy house. Now, I am a 76 year old woman, my husband just had hip replacement surgery June 2, and it is 90 degrees outside. So I went down to the road and proceeded to bundle the bouncy house, which I could lift myself. By the time I finished, I was very angry and that is the reason for this review. We had Waste Management for 16 years (2008-2024) and we had several occasions, especially the last 2 years, when Waste Management failed to pick up our trash. This got to the point where they failed to pick up our trash for 3 weeks in a row during a hot summer spell. Our bill was paid-in-full, all trash was placed at the roadside and in their trash can...but incompetence ruled and it just sat there stinky and rotting! We contacted Tri-County, signed with them and have had no issues at all. In fact, their people were so nice, professional and courteous - a HUGE change from the rude and obnoxious customer service people we encountered at Waste Management! Plus, they also offer recycling of cans and most plastics, so we can help the environment as well...something Waste Management did not offer where we are at. read more

Very poor customer service, if you have a problem & try to talk to them they are very rude. They keep saying I owe a back bill, I have made every effort to pay all of my bills, but ever since Tri-county came into Sharon, PA as a contract area they have said I'm behind on the bill (I have not missed any payments). Now they are refusing to pick up the trash until I Bay the back bill plus a $10 restoration fee..I never asked for them to come into my city & I surely didn't ask them to take a large price hike, they doubled their quarterly price. I can't afford to pay double for the same service. I choose to - brake it down into 3 payments for 3 months that way I could afford it & now they have the nerve to say I'm 3 months behind. Since February I have paid $180 I'm due to pay them again in about 8 days another $45. And what I was told they WILL NOT EVEN pick up the trash then. What is someone on disability suppose to do? I have always prided myself in paying all my bills but Tri-Counnty is the biggest price gouger I've ever seen. I feel ALL RESIDENTS NEED TO BAND TOGETHER TO REMOVE TRY-COUNTY from our city. read more

Pick up trash can. After weeks of missing the trash pick up because of below normal temperatures and holiday that's not observed for pick up. I got my can out 2 minutes after they passed my home at 4:40am. Since they didn't miss it they wouldn't pick it up. Even though they say if they miss it they will come back and pick it up within 24 hours. I was told when I first called they would come back. When they didn't they said that their was no notes that I called the previous day and because it was a " late put out" they cannot come back for the absolutely full time garbage. They need to be clear on policy... If someone on their staff errs' take the hit and retrain on policy. I saw the second truck picking up garbage the day I called about noon. I have actually never done business or communicated with anyone at Tri-County industries, but they apparently purchased my information from Racoon Refuse then started sending me a bill... now with late charges and threats of collections or a law suit. They are scamming people left and right all over the area with late fees and new customer charges without even sending out any bills. They are even charging late fees to people who have automated payments taken out of their bank accounts. Most of these people are elderly and don't even notice the fees until a family member checks the account. This isn't a new thing and it's an ongoing problem.. Check your bills everyone! Customer service is worthless. Keep getting billed $74 extra. Also sent one bill late and our 1st bill we never got until my wife called. Ended up with late payments. We aren't the only ones they're doing this to. We pay what the bill says and they keep adding more next time because they under charge. I have had nothing but problems since I moved into my house. Tri-county wouldn't send me trash cans after I paid my quarterly even after I mailed in the agreement three times. One of which, was 2 months before I started services with them. Once they did send me trash cans they wouldn't pick up my trash weekly . When I put my own personal trash can out they took it and stated that it was trash itself but wouldn't refund me for it or replace it . When I backed out of my contract to move to a different Waste Company they tried charging me a breach of contract fee . After I contacted the Better Business Bureau they called me back immediately and said they were going to waive my breach of contract fee and refund me my quarterly . It took 2 months for them to mail me a check and within that time they told me they were charging me $20 to pick up my old trash cans but they were going to take that out of my refund . My quarterly amount was $120 and I only received a check for $50. When I called their main office and asked for the number for their financial department they said they are not allowed to give that number out or any extensions to any supervisors. read more

They have said I have a owed bill. After talking to a person who identifies herself as Clare H. I realized that this is a scam to collect off of old racoon refuse customers. After she was told I had not retained their services I was told all customers of racoon refuse where required to use them per the terms and agreement with racoon refuse. I had terminated my services with Racoon refuse prior to getting there notice. I discarded their notice along with their form to authorize payment. Clare H. stated I had to prove that I had cancelled before my notice. Racoon Refuse is out of business thus making getting a letter impossible. Their payment authorization states that if the payment was not received before the 1st of the month trash would not be picked up. I didn't make a payment because I had already signed up with a different company. I requested a copy of my file from Clare H. never received it. Made the request to the billing manager in writing. Letter was received Feb 8. Today is March 15. Still no reply. Sent an e-mail this morning no reply. Received last and final notice dated Dec. 1st. in Feb along with 2 more bills for payment and additional interest. Clare H. claimed that she had driver logs with date and time of pickups. Requested them another no show. Her last statement to me was "I say you owe us so you do" Until proof is supplied there will not be any payment. Sent for debt collection got 1st letter and got second letter from them 7 days later after I sent a letter to them denying the bill thus violating the law. Crooks deal with crooks. Both companies will be reported to the CFPB. read more

Send out fake Bill's and collection notices to try and get you to get service. When called out on it get told it's legal no no it's not. Sending out fake bills late fees is called a scam then told by law you have to use us. Theres no trash law . I can take my trash were I choose as I have a business and I have waste contract elsewere. Offer a lovely combination of hidden charges and awful customer service because they have a monopoly in the area and therefore have no motivation to care. Took 3 months to get my trash cans because they ran out. Yes, you read that right. A TRASH company ran out of TRASH cans. Incredible. My two year contract is up the end of September. I don't know that I have ever received a bill on time. Typically the first thing I get from Tricounty is a late notice. I set up automatic payment at least twice only to get a late notice 3 months later. I actually called one time to make sure it was on auto pay and that the card was good due to getting a new card when the old was expiring. I was assured that payment was being processed and everything would be fine, only to get a late notice a month later. It took over 3 months to get the recycling bin then they rarely picked it up, so everything went in the trash. They don't want to do anything about the billing issues so when the contract is up we are done with Tricounty. Worst trash collection I've ever dealt with. Should get 0 stars. read more

This company is terrible and inconsiderate. They come to pick up 3-4 dumpster in a residential area between 11pm and 1am. It is very loud and wakes my young children up every time I can't leave windows open in summer because of this. How can this be acceptable for a residential pick up. read more

This is the worst company to deal with. Complained to the city of Sharon, who gave this company the contract for garbage service. Winder what kind of kickbacks the city got for that. Pit cardboard from a hot water tank and tub surround. Contract says will take anything except televisions and tires. Put out some old windows. They refused to take them. Unfortunately the driver keeps leaving my empty can in my driveway rather than off the driveway where they found it. This means I have to park in the road to move the can so I can pull in. Apparently pushing the empty can the additional 2 feet requires too much effort. Looking for other waste removal options. read more

My garbage is continually forgotten. Most recently, it should've been picked up on a Thursday. By Friday afternoon it hadn't been taken. I called and asked why but wasn't given a reason. Instead I was told to put out 2 weeks worth next week. So I'll have to have bags of trash sitting either in my house or on my porch in 90°+ weather, and then leave them in a pile next week on garbage night. When asked what I should do about animals getting into it, I was told to spray it with air freshener to repel raccoons. I asked if someone could get it tomorrow but was told no one will be in the area. I asked for someone to get it Monday and was told they'll "try." I've been with them for around a year and a half and have had to call at least half a dozen times because they forget to pick it up. My recycling never gets picked up bbn on the scheduled day. The entire month bbn of February and part of March. This has been happening for years. Also, my garbage gets dumped all over my driveway, which then blows all over my yard. I'm not very picky and understand that vehicle issues can rise. I can in to complain and I am accused of lying about it. They act as if it is my fault even though they are being paid for a service that is not rendered. These guys suck in hermitage, I moved in to my house 3 months ago and been playing catch up ever since, forgot us a couple weeks then came and grabbed minimum, never will they grab what's next to the brown garbage bin. Not to mention I've been leaving notes on other cans telling them it's garbage and nope still don't grab it and still leave a mess with the one can they do get. I relate it to my job as a carpenter like yea my job is to build something but I will still clean up after myself where as these guys do the very minimum and one day robots will be doing their job. Never had this problem in transfer, they always grabbed everything at the top of the road, I am so frustrated and just today I left 10 bucks for them to grab everything and still didn't. So yes 0/5 from my experience. Lazy bums, even after I called they told me they can only take the brown bin and nothing else with garbage in it because they can get fined, so they offered me to pay extra to have the rest of it picked up. Save your money...This place is horrible they didn't pick up the trash most of the time. When I called to ask why the lady was rude like I was lieing. I made a payment arrangement with them.. and they got there money on the date arranged for, and I was charged a reinstatement fee even though they never stopped service. Worst customer service I've ever dealt with. I too got a notice about shut-off and got charged for restart fee...but they never stopped it. Of course they had a stop date...1 week after I paid.
