Excellent neighborhood meat market, I've visited twice so far and both times received excellent service. Tri-County like all of the meat markets in San Antonio has it own niche. I'd say it's their homemade jerky, which perfumes the store in a mouthwatering meaty aroma. Very good selection of cuts that mostly focuses on beef (this is Texas, after all!) but they supplement this with a pre-made section with lots of Cajun specialties and another chill-case filled with chicken and pork cuts. Overall, this place is very much worth a visit! Among other things, parking is easy, they have a sense of humor about their product selection and furnishings, and they're right across the street from Gino's. Pick up a cheesesteak, have a great lunch, then roll over here and pick up a ribeye for dinner. Now you're talkin' good times! read more

This place was way more than what I expected. Staff was really nice and super helpful seeing as it was our first time coming. Their stuffed jalapeños looked incredible and the stuffed chicken. I honestly want to try some of all of it. My husband was also excited to find boudin. He's a New Orleans native so anything that reminds him of home makes him happy. We got some of their marinated fajita steak, it was highly recommend to us from another customer so we grabbed some to try. There are plenty of meat markets in the San Antonio area. Each one has it's own little niche that customers like to make each of these stores their personal favorite. I am not saying this store is my favorite but it offers a very good selection of meat cuts. Duh it's a meat market. In particular I like the selection of boudain which is I why I like this establishment specifically. They have boudain from Poche's in Breaux Bridge, LA and other delicacies. This is one of my favorite places to get boudain in Louisiana and its cheaper getting it here than ordering online. Been coming here for a couple years now and love their quality meat and service. I recently tried their barbacoa and it's a must try. You can't say you have had the best until you try this one. I don't see how anyone can give this place a bad review, one guy gave a 1 star because he waited an entire 8 minutes!!.... my goodness. Do you want them to roll out the red carpet for you when you arrive too? Probably better that they don't have you as a customer anyway. Lol Anyway, always good service and good people working there. The guys in the back are all nice and helpful but the big lady they have in front as the cashier is awful and the only reason why I'm not leaving a five star review. Came in to pick up some steaks and was greeted immediately. But for the next 8 minutes as we waited in front of the steak cooler we weren't assisted. The cashier saw us standing around and asked if we wanted help. But by that point I was upset to have been the only person waiting for hep and not receiving it. I recently spent over $100 on meat for a family BBQ at this location. The meal looked good but tasted terrible. I was very disappointed. The meat tasted like iron and blood. I've had better tasting meat at Costco and HEB which isn't saying much. Please save your money and go elsewhere. read more

UPDATED WITH PHOTOS. I never knew what I missing until they opened up near my office. I stopped in out of curiosity and now find myself only buying my steaks from here. Their meat quality is awesome with a few different types of beef at different price points. They offer chicken, and pork cuts, as well as assorted poThe steaks I buy from here and grill at home are the best I have ever had. They also offer custom orders for different cuts and thicknesses. They carry pork belly for my famous pork belly burnt ends. I love the shop because they have meat, but they also have a small but essential selection fresh produce, seasonings, and BBQ supplies. They have smoked beef bones, and pig ears for your furry friends(dogs, not Burt with the hairy back). They also have a frozen section with seafood and other meat selections. On weekends they have smoked brisket for sale. The customer service is always spot on with taking requests and answering any questions about different cuts or even how to prepare them. They make you feel like a longtime friend. Bottoms line, service and selection can't be beat. read more

The store was small, staff friendly so no issues there. I am disappointed at the quality of the premium beef I purchased. I got 3 ribeye and 3 NY Strip: It didn't look as marbled as the same cut at other places. I cooked the steak in the grill along with the rest of the steak from another butcher shop and the quality I got at this place was far inferior, it's sold as premium for over 20 a pound but I would compare it to a choice grade. I drove from Selma, used to live in Shavano Park, to get poppers and meat for dinner. The way i was treated today is completely unacceptable especially with my son next to me. No excuse for rudeness. We used to be regulars but have grown tired of being treated like we are bothering them. The older gentleman (I think he's the owner) and a couple of the younger counter guys are very rude. I called ahead and was told they had hanger steak. When I arrived they couldn't find it. No big deal, but when I couldn't decide on a substitute quickly enough for their liking, they became impatient and rude. The meat here really is phenomenal. The steaks here are much thicker and come out much more tender than what you'll typically pick up at a grocery store. Even the ground beef seemed to be of higher quality and more flavorful. I do have to dock a star because I also purchased garlic, and when I came home and unpeeled it, it was rotten inside. The cloves were mushy and unusable. Pretty shocking. So, while I'll wholeheartedly recommend their meat, I won't be bothering with their produce in the future. read more

They were happy to cut it any way we wanted, but we went with 1/2 so it would fit in the Steakager. They even offered a Veteran discount. The man behind the meat counter was super helpful in picking steaks. Also had some bones and pig ears for the dogs & oddly enough, smelled really good. Meat market that is adjoined to a gas station on the corner of Huebner and Lockhill-Selma. Excellent. Excellent meat. You will find cuts of meats that are impossible to find at other stores. Today they had tomahawk steaks. 2 for $75! Not always available but today they were. Also had some interesting stuffed jalapeños- bought the one stuffed with steak, cream cheese and cheddar wrappped in bacon. I'll post a pic when we cook them!
