Things seemed smooth at first as the crew arrived around 9:30 AM and the majority of my belongings were loaded into the truck within three hours. However, once we arrived at the new house, two of the three movers left without notifying me. I assumed they were working inside the truck while the remaining crew brought items in. I even spent over $80 on lunch for all the movers, only to find out two of them had left for the day after just four hours. That's when the nightmare really began. It took over an hour to get my futon upstairs because they hadn't disassembled it. They even required my help to get it up the stairs during which they damaged my walls and staircase without repairing. I had to move boxes to the correct rooms myself, unwrap shrink-wrapped furniture, and deal with his phone breaks and gas station runs. Despite all this, by 10:30 PM- yes, over 13 hours later-Ruben requested $2,170 in payment, claiming he gave me a "discount" of $20/hour for 8 hours because two movers left early. That still left me paying well over double the original quote. To top it all off, my daughter's bed was still unassembled, my TV was sitting in the box on the floor, and several items hadn't been properly placed or finished. When I voiced my concerns about the lack of communication and unfinished tasks, I was met with a clearly frustrated and dismissive attitude. After a long and exhausting day, I was left feeling taken advantage of and extremely disappointed. I would absolutely not recommend this company to anyone. My dad (who the moving is for) is 65 years old with back problems and has not been able to help me. So imagine a little 12 year old (I'm over 20 but I look super young and light) trying to lift a 75-145 lb object by herself. Quoted $300-$350. They arrived, then told my husband -- who had no part in negotiating the price -- it was now $400. He hadn't been told wrapping was even part of the deal, so he had no way to catch the switch. The whole job took **7 minutes**. Nothing was wrapped: not the stairs, not the walls, not the floors, not the shades, not the sauna panels. Pieces were dumped unprotected on our bamboo floor against an electric shade, which then knocked panels over and damaged them. When we complained, SEUD told Thumbtack that my husband was the one who agreed to skip wrapping and unpack the boxes instead "to safely navigate the narrow staircase." That's false, and we have the recorded call proving the wrapping commitment was made before anyone arrived -- my husband wasn't even part of that conversation. Thumbtack's response was to ask us for an itemized invoice or written estimate to "verify" the discrepancy, as if a verbal bait-and-switch confirmed on tape isn't verification enough. Thumbtack recommended this company to us directly, one of only three options with no way to browse others, dressed up with 500 reviews and a 4.9 rating. When we brought recorded proof that their pro lied to them about what was agreed, Thumbtack's process still landed on "not our problem."
