They couldn't care less about the patients. It's really a shame. When I told Dr I was unhappy that my injury prevented me from participating in my sport, he says "Well do you get payed to play your sport? Sorry but to some people money is not everything. Thoroughly fed up with Tri-County Orthopedics. Went there to clinic about one month ago and got no relief to excruciating pain from a torn groin. Had to wait 10 days to see doctor again because schedule was full. When I got there I had to wait 1 1/2 hour to see doctor and woman who walked out ahead of me thanked the receptionist "seeing me today," which led me to believe she was squeezed in and that's why I had to wait so long. Today I called at 9:00 a.m. because the right groin pain transferred to left buttocks and again the pain is excruciating. It I 10:30 and I'm still waiting to hear if I can come in for an injection or prescription. I've gone for physical therapy and to a chiropractor. Cannot stop the pain. Many years ago I was a patient of Dr. McBride when he was on Hanover Ave., and he treated me with the utmost care and professionalism. Tri-County is not what it used to be. I have been in unbearable pain for five weeks and no relief from Tri-County. read more

After reading some of these reviews, I feel compelled to chime in. I've been a patient at Tri County for several years and for several reasons. I had a total hip replacement by Dr. Aaron Forbes with excellent results. More recently, I met with Dr. Mark McBride for a second opinion regarding my hand. The reception staff are friendly and efficient at this busy practice. I have never waited more than 15 minutes before being brought into the examination room. The doctors were professional, friendly and spent plenty of time explaining options and answering questions. I couldn't be more pleased! read more

Dr Willis did an incredible surgery completely resolving my injury and I am pain free and very happy.

Although the doctors in this practice may be fabulous (I've seen three of them since August 2017, 4 visits total), the mechanics of this practice are scarily disfunctional and downright patient-hostile. 1) Wait times are long. The earliest I've been seen was 30 minutes after my appointment time; the latest was 2 hours and 10 minutes after. 2) Prescriptions are doled out month by month rather than being renewable, and you must use the patient portal or convoluted voice-message system to request a refill. Now, I can understand caution with opioids or other serious painkillers. But minor NSAIDs like Mobic (meloxicam)? I can also understand that doctors might want to hold medications hostage so that patients don't allow too much time to pass between follow-up visits. But the past two months I've had trouble getting my prescription refilled--I place my request on the portal, wait, call the pharmacy, the pharmacy says they don't have the info and calls the office, days pass, I call the pharmacy, the pharmacy calls again... See photo for the explanation I received last month. (It would be a bit more reassuring if communications were a bit more polished.) This month (March), I placed my request on the 2nd; pharmacy called on the 6th; pharmacy called on the 14th, and they're calling again today, the 20th. But I think I'm going to give up on the one pill a day and go back to ibuprofen. 3) they are resistant to patient calls, instead requiring use of the phone system (rather like the cable company...) 4) Different doctors prefer different forms; even if you're an established patient, you need to fill out a new form...even though the form fields are the same. You'd think that a modern business would be able output data in slightly different formats (you can do this in Office or Adobe Acrobat, for heaven's sake), and it does make me a bit concerned about how well they manage patient data. This review is for Dr K Montgomery and his PA in particular. They are a great team. After a car accident, I had a possible scaphoid injury, and went to see them. Getting an appointment was quick, check in was simple, was called into the office for X-rays with only a 10 minute wait. The staff is courteous and efficient. The PA took a look at the X-rays, explained what he saw with me. Then he double checked with Dr Montgomery. Dr Montgomery saw the hairline fracture that was very difficult to see! He then prescribed a cast, and the PA took care of me. Dr Montgomery then took a last look at the cast, and I was off! I had a follow up with him, and that was also great. Consulting with him about the healing of my hand was very informative. He definitely has great bedside manner and kept me well informed about my injury. He is definitely a keeper! read more

AVOID WALK-IN clinic...perhaps the main doctors at this place are good but the "JV Team" they have working at clinic is pathetic, and they should be embarrassed of reputation this is having on overall practice. I went in for shoulder pain... met with two PA's... both manipulated/examines my shoulder separately and then together. Felt like med school project. THEN they give me a cortisone shot, and apparently he must have missed spot and I am now 10x's worse!! I have been in constant pain since had my shot 2 days ago!! It gets better... when I called to speak to someone about pain, they had someone call me back that was CLEARLY reading from a book/pamphlet about possible side effects of shot. I will NEVER to that second rate facility again and advice you not to as well. read more

5 years ago I was diagnosed with a torn labrum. First I went to another highly recommended doctor (dr. France). That doctor said u had less then a 1 percent chance of recovery without surgery. Before the surgery I went to Doctor Willis, who also was highly recommended by people who I know in the field. Doctor will advised that my chance of recovery was closer to 40 percent without surgery. He sent me to PT and suggested I not decide to go for surgery for at least a year. PT helped. After a year I felt much better. I used to swim 6 days a week. If I try to swim that much my shoulder will ache a little. (A 1 out of 10 on a pain scale). A couple years after this I fell while on a wave machine and injured the other shoulder. For this injury I went to Dr. Willis again. This time I was diagnosed with a bruised rotator cuff. And he suggested that I do the same exercises I did for the other shoulder. Once again- he didn't suggest surgery. I would without hesitation recommend Dr. Willis. I am 99 percent symptom free. The other doctor I saw before him was quick to cut for his own financial reward. Dr. Willis has good judgement. I work in the medical field. I work in the same hospital that Dr. Willis operates out of. And I am grateful to have been well advised by him. read more

Do not come to this location, save your time and money. I went in with lower back pain, the doctor made me get three different x rays because she couldn't figure out what was wrong. They said my insurance covered it and after months it didn't. They sent me to collection for $129 and I didn't know this because I moved to a new apartment. I found out when I needed a credit report and saw it in the report. Dr. Montgomery at Tri County is the absolute best orthopedic doctor ever. Having fallen at work, the case was restricted to WC making many doctor decisions on my behalf. The initial doctor I went to, after realizing how badly I was injured admitted he could not help me and told WC to find another doctor who could. My first visit at Tri County was with a different doctor who later brought Dr. Montgomery in as a second consult. Dr. Montgomery agreed he could fix my horribly broken shoulder. A couple weeks later, after a 4.5 hour surgery, Dr. Montgomery worked his magic. He totally fixed some nearly irreparable damage. Even though my case was WC, Dr. Montgomery was always on my side. He provided the necessary care and never wavered in offering me exactly what he, as MY doctor, felt I needed. He did not allow WC to dictate care, he took full charge and responsibility for my physical and mental well-being. In addition to being a fantastic surgeon, his demeanor when speaking with me was always polite and respectful He showed great concern and patiently answered every question I had. I never felt rushed and Dr. Montgomery took as much time with me as the appointment required. I can say, without hesitation, Dr. Montgomery is the FINEST ORTHOPEDIC DOCTOR you will find in NJ if not the US! The office staff can be irritable and cranky, and the wait times can exceed 45 minutes... but if Dr. Montgomery is your doctor, ***HE IS WELL WORTH THE WAIT.*** read more

While the doctors here are fantastic, the scheduling and wait time is absolutely ridiculous. They have zero respect for their patient's time. During my experience of 3 different visits, I've waited 45 min- an hour in the waiting room, followed by another 15 or so in the exam room, followed by 20-40 mins in line to get x-rays, followed by another 10-15 minutes back in the exam room all before seeing the doctor. It's a shame that such a nice, talented facility is ruined by poor schedule coordination. read more

Customer service is very poor due to overbooking. Doctors are good but not "World Class" that statement may be consumer fraud. The practice is set up to book as many people as possible for office visits. Then turn as many of these visits into a surgery while giving you as little time, options and information as possible. Anything complicated, go away and come back when you need the surgery or sorry can't help. I personally experienced this with different doctors there for my foot, wrist and hip. Once you are scheduled for your surgery "SURPRISE" you will be booked with as many other patients as possible for that day. If something goes wrong in the surgery room or recovery room the doctor will be stressed since he has a line of patients behind you prepped for surgery. A law needs to be in place to stop this. I am extremely surprised to see that there are negative reviews on this page, so I'm going to write a long one because my experience has been nothing but pleasant and professional with this group and I've had 3 surgeries with them! So I'd like to think I know what I'm talking about! 5 years ago I had a pretty rough sports injury that lead to having a torn meniscus and ACL. Bad enough to the point where I needed a separate surgery for each. I had been to the ER and a prior local orthopedist and both of them told me everything looked fine, maybe a small sprain. I was scheduled for an MRI and I decided I didn't really trust my local orthopedist and was recommended to Dr. Montgomery. First off, when you see he is a physician for the Jets and the Islanders (I don't believe he is for the Isles anymore, but he was 5 years ago) you have to think he's doing something right. I already trusted this guy more than anyone I had seen in the first week of my injury. Anyways, when he arrived in the room he asked me some questions on what happened and what sport I was playing. (This is completely irrelevant but I play a sport that although can be very competitive, isn't very well known. Not only did Dr. M know what I was talking about, but he said he had played a few times and knew a lot about it! That really made me feel very comfortable. I was being treated the same as Football/Hockey players.) After a few questions, and even before loading up the MRI he did 1 simple test bending my leg and knew instantly my ACL didn't just have a tear, it was completely torn. His exact words were "yea, you basically don't even have an ACL". Literally in 10 seconds of examination he already knew more than 2 doctors I had met with for hours before. Upon looking at the MRI him and Chi saw the ACL tear and the extremely bizzare meniscus tear which we had a long conversation about what our plan of action was going to be. Here I am, first intense sports injury and we've come to the conclusion that I'm going to need 2 surgeries because I did something a professional sports physician has only seen a handful of times. Yet, I can honestly say that I have never felt more comfortable with a doctor. Alright, so we're all ready to schedule my surgery. My mom and I go to the scheduling office and realize what a pickle we're in. Not only do I now need surgery, but after recently finding out my dad had been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer, his surgery was scheduled in a couple weeks. We explain what is going on, and how we're not sure how long my dad is going to be in the hospital for. The woman who was in charge of scheduling was EXTREMELY helpful and understanding. She squeezed us in so that I could have a week to get settled in after my first surgery before my dad had to go in. Looking back on that event 5 years ago, it honestly was possibly the sweetest thing anyone could have done for my family. My mom was very stressed out, and they did everything they could to help us out even though we'd only been patients with them for about an hour. I still to this day can't believe how great that was. Every followup after that was met with a "hows your father/husband doing?" and a sincere concern about what was going on. Anyways, fast forward to 5 years later (almost to the day) I'm here with another ACL tear. This time in my other knee. I scheduled my appointment and got another MRI. Meeting with Dr. Montgomery and he instantly knows who I am, what sport I played, and everything about my previous visit with him. Since I've been through it before we had a pretty brief meeting since they were packed with people, but he went over our plan of action AND wanted my opinion on a possible backup plan in case my hamstring tendon wasn't strong enough to replace my ACL with. Surgery was scheduled quickly and exactly to what I needed. On the day of surgery I was met with an extremely pleasant nurse, Flo, who was funny and helpful with everything. Dr. M came in to explain everything again. Even with the wait starting to get a tad on the long side he came in a second time and we just had a brief conversation. After surgery he checks on you again to let you know everything went great and really explains everything he did. Good luck remembering this part as the anesthesia is still wearing off most likely. I just finished with my first followup appointment and met with Dr. M's PA, Chi. He as well remembered who I was and what sport I played from 5 years ago. He thoroughly examined everything and told me how he thought everything looked. He answered all my questions. He then brought up the new xray and pictures from the surgery. We went through everything so that I could really understand what went on in my knee and how they did the procedure. They easily could have just said "everything looks good, here's your PT script. I've hit the character limit. I can't even use the term world class for Dr. M, Chi, and the staff at Tri-County, it doesn't give them enough credit. read more

I've given them multiple opportunities because it seems to be the first place family doctors send us to. Simply Habit ? I will Never return to ANY of the doctors there. I was called in after only waiting about 5 minutes. I didn't even have time to finish the paperwork! ( I'll get back to that later!) Dr Goldberger came in as soon as I sat down, asked my symptoms but didn't really listen. I told him I had pain radiating from top of my ankle to top of my foot. And complained of heel pain. I went for x rays and took my paperwork with me to finish. By the time I got back to the room my x rays were up on the monitor. He said that yes my ankle /foot pain was due to arthritis in my big toe?!! Said to take 2 Advil twice a day. I expressed that I had no pain in the 'arthritic' toe joint. He said it's referred pain from inflammation. He shook my hand and was half way out the door when I asked about the heel pain. His response? A bone spur but ' summer's coming so you'll be wearing open backed shoes so it should get better' Really is that what they teach in med school?? Back to the paper work. I held it during the entire time . He never even looked at it! He was very dismissive, border line rude. PS I went to a very competent podiatrist and she successfully treated my foot pain. Without the x rays from tri county because apparently you can only request them on mondays and can take up to 21 days to get them. Never again! read more

Anitra H I have been to this group a few time over the last three years for shoulder problems . I was very pleased with my service as my previous Dr. had missed diagnosed me . I recently called to make an appointment and they told me I was in collections and could not make an appointment until paid . I said ok I will pay it now . Then sent me to someone else who refused to take payment and stated I have to call the collection agency. I was very upset for the run around . For the reason that they NEVER asked me what was wrong why was I calling for an appointment . At that moment I realized it was more of business than the care of a patient . I had no problem paying the bill . They could have taken the payment and made my appointment so that I could get care . I have been to Tri County many times for myself and my four children (we are a very active athletic family). Two of my kids have had surgeries with 2 different doctors, and I have had surgery myself. A few months ago I injured my knee while playing soccer. I am in my 50's and very athletic and it great physical shape. When I went to my visit with Dr. Epstein there was a PA with him while he did his assessment of my injury who took some notes. After x-rays and the exam the doctor decided that an MRI was needed to rule out a meniscus tear which was what he suspected. He told me that after the MRI he would call me with the results. Dr. Epstein was very personable and very knowledgable about the different possible issues that could possibly be wrong with my knee. After my MRI, I got a call from a PA from Tri County the day before my results were to be ready, who left a message asking when the best time would be for the Doctor to call back to speak to me with the MRI results. I called back and left a message with my name and birthdate explaining that they could call whenever because I would have my phone with me. Someone else called the following morning asking why I left the message and I explained that the doctor was supposed to call me with the MRI results and wanted to know when the best time would be to reach me. At about 4:00 that day the same PA ,that called the previous day, called back and told me that he was calling to give me the results to my MRI. This confused me a little because I thought that Dr. Epstein would call back since that was what he told me in the office and the whole reason I decided to go to Dr. Epstein for this injury was because of his many years experience with athletes and their different injuries. The PA that called me wasn't even the same PA that was in the room while Dr. Epstein examined my knee. Based on the questions the PA asked, I'm assuming that he didn't even have my file in front of him or really know anything about my injury other then the text book version of the basic injury and his assumption that because of my age I probably injured it in some exercise class instead of a competitive soccer game. He recommended PT if I thought I would need it for my partial LCL tear/level 2 sprain. The PA sounded as if he was reading bits of notes off of a paper. I'm just really annoyed that after seeking out a doctor with specific experience I'm brushed off to an inexperienced PA who is probably there putting in time for their clinical rotations who probably isn't even a full PA yet, and worse yet, he wasn't even present during the exam, so he knows nothing about me or my physical abilities. If this is how Tri County is treating their patients now, I would seriously consider another group of doctors. read more

Was seen by Dr. D'Agostini for complaints of chronic hip pain. After a full examination and a few other needed appointments, I had a Total Hip replacement in June. It has been just under 6 weeks and I am ready to go back to work. I can say that Dr. D'Agostini fully took care of me and gave me my hip back. I am happy and most of all my hip pain is gone. I came to Tri-County Orthopedic because of right knee pain. I was diagnosed with Osteoarthris in the right knee. I liked the Doctor very much, he was very professional and caring. His name was Dr. Samual T. Dona, MD. After a few monthes of care, I am changing my Orthopedic doctor due to the total disfunction of the main office. The telephone system is the worst. On hold for 20 plus minutes every time I need to call. If the office functions like this... I can not continue working with them. I am in business and I would NOT treat my customers with this very poor service. Fix the phone system. Maybe too big! The Cedar Knolls office waiting room is very large and is always fiiled with patients waiting to see the doctor. I went for tennis elbow and the PA that I saw claimed that she called in a prescription for me when I was leaving the office and a week later they pharmacy does not have the prescription. The surgeon who performed a total left hip replacement was Dr. Goldman, and I cannot recommend him highly enough. While every patient is different depending on overall physical condition, weight, age, and of course, the severity of the affected area, I had absolutely no pain following the surgery. The staff is very professional and takes you step-by-step through the procedure. Take the one-hour class that is offered, which explains how to prepare for the surgery, the surgery itself, and post-surgery therapy and temporary restrictions. read more

I CALLED twice now this morning, first time there were so many prompts I wasn't sure what to push. I had seen one of the other doctors previously so I wasn't a new patient but this was an injury for a part of my body that the other doctor doesn't do...so I held on hold for about 10 mins . finally I pushed "1' to leave a message and the girl answered but then proceeded to cut me off. I am a returning patient so she should have my number to call me back...but no...so I called again, and this time left a message...no one has called me back so I came on here and saw all the negative reviews...so I guess I'll call another doctor. I would give this negative stars. This was the most uncomfortable office I have ever been to in my entire life. I walked in as a new patient and was when I said "hi, how are you?" I was not actually greeted, but given a cold "Checking in?" in a monotone voice by the receptionist.  Even though I showed up 17 minutes early for my appointment, it took me TWENTY mins to get through their insane paperwork, and another 15 until they called me back.  The woman who took me back ALSO ignored me when I greeted her and instead looked past me and said "STRAIGHT BACK.", as if she couldn't hate her job more.  She put me in a room and informed me they were going to do xrays before talking to me. Proceeded to leave me there for over FORTY MINUTES.  Heres an idea--- dont quadruple book patients. Also, maybe they train staff not to smile at this company? Its VERY unnerving.   I've never been to a doctors office of any kind where the staff doesnt acknowledge you, introduce themselves, etc.  It feels sketchy and insanely unprofessional. Once the actual therapist came in she cut me off several times mid sentence when I was trying to explain my condition. Just to top it all off, as I was leaving my appointment, I heard the receptionist trash talking patients in a loud enough voice that the entire waiting room could hear. I actaually felt embarrassed. I cant believe that anyone would choose to return here unless said person does not have access to a car and literally needs to walk here or something..... read more

Everything is ok until you encounter a black woman from x-ray. she is very rude and never introduced her self or tell you what is she is going to do. the medical assistant a pregnant woman is worst, terrible attitud, she thinks that every patient is stupid. she never explains anything and I not willing to listen lock of compation. the doctors are very good but the staff needs to go, or have a customer service classes read more

Tri-County was always one of the best orthopedic offices nearby, and my entire family has used them at different times. Today, I am frustrated and angry. I saw one of the general orthopedists about 2 weeks ago for a sudden sports injury that has caused me to be unable to walk more than a few feet without my thigh totally cramping up and being unable to walk. The doctor was unsure of exactly what the injury was, but sent me to physical therapy, saying to return if it wasn't better in a couple weeks. However, the appointment still wasn't with a specialist to diagnose the problem. After being mostly bedridden, even having to crawl to get to the bathroom, and needing a wheelchair to get into Kessler therapy, I am no better. So, I requested on Tri-County's online appointment site to have an appointment with one of their hip specialists. No one answered, so after 4 days I called them back. They have no appointments for the next 2-4 weeks. Otherwise, I could go to their general orthopedist again and then she could refer me to the specialist, which would also be another 2-4 weeks after that. When I told the assistant that everything I read online said that early treatment was critical to prevent further damage and get pain relief, she wasn't sympathetic. Frankly, I would have been better off going to the emergency room and getting immediate treatment. I am so disappointed in this office. I knew Dr. McBride when things were so much better. read more

What a terrible experience. I waited over 90 minutes to be seen by the doctor. When I saw him, he consulted with me for five minutes. I wasn't able to get much information out of my mouth before he was diagnosing me. He attributed my injury to my exercise class and made a derogatory comment about "women's exercise classes" and them not being qualified. I'm sure he sees a lot of injuries and I'm not saying his diagnosis was wrong however I did not feel like I walked away understanding the root cause or what I should do to prevent reoccurrence. But more aggravating was the lack of professionalism of the staff and the way they run the business. There are a staggering amount of people in the office (both working there and in the waiting room), there is no way this is properly managed. No doctors office should allow a patient to wait 90 minutes! read more

Great surgeon, bad office. The wait time is unreasonable. After waiting two hours past my appointment time I got up and left.

If I could give a negative star I would...I have been seeing Dr Dona for a hand issue...four visits ...in worse shape now then when I started.....the phone system there is a disaster.....still waiting for simple MRI....I wanted an ortho doc ended up with a sports med doctor...according to the third party approval company for the ins company his comments in the request has created this slow up....forget trying to call tri county ,,,,,all the staff says is yes we have tons of complaints about the phone system....I have invested 200 dollars in co pays and nothing to show for it...pain is worse then before....I would NOT recommend anyone going here...and then the poor soul Chris who has to answer all the negative comments on here ...so many so complaints....wish I had cked prior...chris please dont waste my time or yours responding...casue saying you're sorry to all of us means nothing when nothing changes... read more
