I have been a patient of Dr. Lipp and Dr. Reiger for seven years. They are very conservative, avoiding surgery as much as possible, but recommending it when absolutely necessary. I absolutely adore Dr. Lipp. He has validated pain I have had for years, and as someone who has terrible anxiety, he really assured me going into my first cervical spine epidural. He is knowledgeable, kind and has amazing bedside manner. His staff at the Short Hills Surgery Center is also amazing, I felt like I was at the spa! The reason for the 4-star review is his staff at the Chatham office seem to have an attitude whenever I go into that office and are often unkind. The staff that answers the answering service however is super kind and very attentive, so may just be some of the people in the front office. Overall, it is worth it to go to see Dr. Lipp. read more

I can't speak for all the doctors in this center and can only speak for my own experience with Dr. Lipp. After waiting for over an hour in the doctor's office (without being given any notice, estimated wait time, or apology for the delay), I had to reschedule my appointment and drive back home - one hour away. When I came back two days later, I respectfully provided feedback to Dr. Lipp to let him know that scheduling could be optimized to reduce waiting time. His response - "That is the way we run our practice. People may wait one or two hours. If you don't like it, you are free to go elsewhere." Zero apologies for any inconvenience caused or simple understanding that waiting in a chair for an hour for a back pain patient may be difficult. I was deeply hurt by the treatment from a professional who deals with individuals in intense pain. The lack of empathy and consideration for a patient was remarkable. I've also made it clear that I would like to avoid surgery, and Dr. Lipp seems to be very surgery happy -- strongly recommending a delicate spinal surgery that has not been recommended by second opinions from other doctors. The doctors and staff here are always so genuinely nice. I'm comfortable knowing I have a great spine surgeon with a sense of humor! I have surgery in a week and have been concerned about so much. I was reassured by his PA and by him yesterday during my pre-op appointment. I should not have the issues I do at my age. However, I truly feel that Dr Reiger is my best option. The place is always clean and welcoming and if you need anything they will help you out. I have 8 bad disks in my back it's seriously like NJ transit, Metro North and LIRR all collaborated and the result is a shit show of derailments. From the moment I met him I was impressed by his professionalism and genuine care for his patience .As a fellow physician I had several questions about my condition and Dr. Alappat patiently addressed each one of them .His expertise and knowledge in the field where Ravi didn't throughout the consultation, I truly felt like I was in the hands of a seasoned expert. You made me feel comfortable and reassured throughout. The visit is willingness to listen and understand my concerns for the demonstrated his dedication to providing excellent healthcare. The doctor I saw was horrible. (Dr Rieger) While the office staff was great, the nurses and everyone else, however the doctor treated me like a little girl. He came into the room (for an eventual herniated disc and pitched nerve diagnosis) and told me I remind him of his teenage daughter. He told me to "look up videos of physical therapy on youtube" and that my pain was "not as serious as I was saying". He told me because this issue was so personal to me and had been going on so long, I was being overly sensitive and frustrated to it. I started to get upset and cry, so I apologized. He turned to his computer after I apologized and said "Don't worry, I will do the same to you as I do my daughter, ignore her". He wasn't even going to tell me what was going on with my body until the man I brought with me to my appointment asked what was causing my pain. It was the most sexist and horrible appointment of my life. Very disappointed with how I was treated after a painful six months. He lectured me and talked to me like I was a teenage girl. This does not speak for the other doctors there, or the staff they were all lovely. Please note though: If you are a young woman do not come here, unfortunately they will make you feel small, as very many medical facilities do, or at least do not see this doctor. read more

Can't say enough about Dr. Rieger and the whole staff at NJS. They are all true professionals, they care and are extremely responsive to any requests or questions. Going into my surgery I had doubts I'd ever be out of pain however; 3 months later I have my life back and I'm moving quickly towards normalcy. For 10 years I was unable to walk without pain. I was recommended by family member to go see Dr. Schoeb. One visit, One X-ray he know exactly what had to be done. He explained the whole procedure and how long the surgery and recovery would be. Being it was a serious surgery I got a second opinion. When that Dr saw the MRI he agreed with Dr Schoeb. When I told him who was the surgeon he told me I had the best in the business! . Well it's been 8 weeks since the surgery and I can walk more then 2 miles a day and function with zero pain. First week was not easy as expected, but well worth the discomfort. Dr. Schoeb and his staff where a pleasure to deal with even during COVID !!! read more

Dr. Schoeb was great. I went in with 2 herniated discs and radiculopathy on my left side. He gave me options. I chose surgery as this was my 3rd or 4th flare up and I needed a permanent solution. Surgery went well. Recovery was fine. Now one year post op and I am cleared. Can't thank Dr. Schoeb enough for giving me my life back. read more

I suffered a herniated disc several weeks ago, then pain was relentless and I was referred to Dr Lipp by my chiropractor. The office staff was pleasant and I waited five minutes before being seen. Dr Lipp explained my injury and referred me to his associate Dr Schoeb. I did not have to make another appointment, seeing the pain I was in Dr Lipp called Dr Schoeb on his cell phone and asked him to come in to see me. Fifteen minutes later I met Dr Schoeb and had my options fully explained. I opted for surgery and was quickly scheduled and had a great outcome. What I was most impressed with was their demeanor and professionalism. I would recommend this group to anyone. read more

The doctors have been wonderful but this is the most poorly run office I've dealt with. I have never seen the doctor without waiting at least a half hour past my scheduled time. Every single time. It's not an anomaly at this point - it's purely a poorly run office. read more

The office staff in Chatham is absolutely awful, I would highly advise going elsewhere. The office blantantly made a mistake about my appointment date and time (believe me I double checked with my husband to make sure it wasn't an error on my end). The woman at the front desk was uncaring and patronizing and thats the last thing anyone needs when they are suffering from pain. She kept telling me that the doctor was in another office today. One. how would I know the schedule of the doctor and when he works where? Two. The appointment date and time she was telling me that I had scheduled was a total random day on which I know I that I work so, I would have never have scheduled an appointment that day. So, I end up leaving the office, and the office staff calls me stating the doctor can see me today at 2 pm in the other office, so I agreed to such. Minutes later she calls me back and says I cannot have the appointment today because the doctor is running behind at the Clark office. I attempted to explain to her the whole reason I needed this appointment was due to being in pain and needed to see the doctor. All she kept saying was "I'm sorry your in pain" in a complete patronizing not sympathetic nor empathetic manner. She the told me I could see the Doctor's physician assistant I said no because I want to see the doctor and not some new provider. She then said "Well if you are in pain and its an emergency you would see the physicians assistant" I said no again (plus the appointment was on Monday in which I work and would mean several more days of my issue not being addressed). She then suddenly said I was being "transitioned" to the physician's assistant, so suddenly an office secretary can make medical decisions?????? Finally she said I could see the doctor on Wednesday which again is not helpful. I just ended up being so frustrated and offended that I took the appointment and ended the call. At the end of the say Dr. Gerstman is very nice but the office staff is not worth the bother very unkind and not willing to acknowledge they screwed up. And the last thing someone who is in pain wants to hear is "I'm sorry your in pain" a bunch of times. They made numberous errors and which resulted in me getting no treatment. I got my mri results and Dr. Schoeb, he said there were no issues and when I asked him why he thought I had so much pain, he shrugged his shoulders and said "I don't know" in a careless manner. He never bothered to show me the mri either. He said maybe I have two auto immune diseases. I have since seen two other doctors that see the same problem on the mri and have actually helped me in making progress. I don't recommend this doctor. read more

I have nothing but great things to say about the New Jersey Spine Center. I had severe damage to my spine in my neck area from an injury 18 years ago. I couldn't take the pain anymore, it was time to pay the piper, it was confirmed by 2 doctors that if I did not get the surgery to repair my neck there was a good chance I could possibly suffer from some sort of irreversible parallelization down the road. My sister recommended the spine center to me after having 2 surgeries of her own to her upper and lower back. My surgeon was Dr. Rieger, he was fantastic and what he said to expect is what happened, upfront and honest!! I went in for surgery on a Tuesday morning and was out by 12:00 pm the next day, of course it depends on the individual but I was blown away after waking up after the surgery, no pain, NO pain pills needed, only a stiff neck and a soar throat from breathing oxygen, that's it and all after the removal of 2 discs and replacement of bone and a titanium plate with 6 screws, 4 weeks into recovery so far and feeling better everyday. As for the office and staff...again can't say enough good things about them also. Clean and modern facility...I highly recommend them!! read more

Upon my first visit I waited two hours to see a doctor only to come out to realize that someone had my car towed. The manager of the office Sharon apparently did so and was unsympathetic. The doctor didn't seem to care about my inconvenience either. The employees are nice but ruled by an odious, horrible manager. I sought follow up care elsewhere and would never recommend this practice. read more

I am six weeks out from a Lumbar Laminectomy performed at Morristown Hospital by Dr. Schoeb and I could not be happier with the results. Dr. Schoeb was warm and friendly while being a thoroughly professional doctor. He did a wonderful job on my back and I'm pain free for the first time in three years.
