    Wow. For a small town, Paonia sure does have a LOT of liquor stores! This is the second one…read moreoperating within just a few thousand feet of another. My motel room was literally right across the street from this booze outlet and I am happy to report that I didn't see much trouble at all. Just peaceful, law-abiding Paonians shuttling in and out to get their bottles and their brew. I picked up a bag of ice and borrowed some paper towels there, and the people could not have been friendlier. Inside, they have anything and everything that you can think of that might be swigged, swallowed, or slurped. Unless you happen to be a hardcore teetotaller and a fan of the long-defunct 18th amendment, there's nothing negative that you could possibly say about the Paonia Liquor Store ... For those who are so inclined to imbibe distilled spirits, it's glowing red neon is a welcome sight indeed. We're at the height of the…read moreoutbreak, Delta County at the highest rate it's ever been, Thanksgiving weekend one of the highest traffic times of year, and sure they're nice people, but they don't wear masks with consistency and they don't care if their customers do either. I've spoken with the owner who is clear that they aren't enforcing because they talked to their doctor and do not personally believe masks are necessary, despite the statewide ordinance that makes their opinion irrelevant and their business illegal. It's super unfortunate for those of us trying to support local business, because I want to, but I also do not want to get Covid in y'all's store.
