My husband and I stopped in on the recommendation of my father in law, and we couldn't have had a better experience. Neither of us are runners, but I spend a lot of time standing and we both want to start taking better care of our feet. Shoes are less expensive than surgery. So we thought we'd pop in and just pick up a pair of shoes. Our experience was so much more than that. They measured our feet, evaluated our walk, and selected several shoe options for us based off our needs. We both left with a very comfy new pair of shoes, and I ordered a second pair for work. This is a nice running store serving those who live in more suburban Northern Kentucky. They have a good selection of shoes, clothes, and other running-related gear. I can't comment on prices or service as I've only been in the store for their weekly training groups. I have gone to a couple of the Flying Pig training runs on Wednesdays. They are very organized with routes and communication, and always have a water cooler out in the middle of the runs. Best part is it's free (unlike the Roncker's groups). They also have a weekly email blast with pertinent race information and sometimes discounts. Score. read more

Tri-State is an excellent specialty shop for running shoes, training groups, nutrition, and accessories. They always have knowledgeable staff who are runners themselves to help you pick the best shoes for your specific stride/strike pattern. I've trained for three marathons with Tristate. Their groups are super well organized, supportive, and make training fun. They have separate pace groups and coaches for every running and walking speed you can think of. On race day, the groups provide tents and refreshments for members and support along the route. I can't explain how helpful it is to see a familiar smiling face at mile 24 who comes and runs with you a bit just to give you that extra push to finish strong. This place is a great alternative to The Running Spot. It's a speciality store for runners, and the people who work here are always willing to give advice to amateurs like myself. The prices for the gear can get pretty expensive but that's true of all speciality stores. I've bought some shoes, and winter running gear and have been very satisfied with the purchases. When I was looking for new running shoes the person working was helping 3 different groups and I felt like I got as much help as I needed picking out the shoes. He watched me walk and run to get an idea of what type of shoe I could use, and picked out several with extra arch support. He encouraged me to try them on and even go for a run around the parking lot to see how they felt. I tried on 3 or 4 different shoes and then picked out the one that worked best. It was probably some of the best customer service that I've had. They also have a water cooler in the back that you can use if you are mid-run and need to hydrate. They sell a bunch of supplements in gels, chews, and drinks. If you are a runner in the area then check them out. read more

I've gotten running shoes, socks and other stuff there on two occasions and love it. I like having a real runner and shoe expert answering my questions and recommending what I should buy. It's like going to a specialized butcher for the best meat instead of the supermarket for everything. There's no pressure to buy. Great place. read more

Went today with my son he received personalized service. The sales person was extremely knowledgeable. She assessed his gait, asked him his running habits, what shoes he's currently using, and a few other questions and based on his answers she was able to offer him 4 different shoes to try. As he tried on each shoe she asked for his feedback and provided better options for him. Really great experience!! read more

I went in yesterday morning, on a whim. I was immediately greeted by Randy, and he helped me find the perfect pair of running shoes. He was very knowledgeable and very friendly. I had a hard time deciding between two pair, and he was able to note the second pair on a customer profile he created for me on the computer. If you want personalized service in a non-threatening atmosphere this is the place for your running and walking needs. You won't find as many choices as you will at a larger sporting goods stores but you will find knowledgeable, no pressure staff members that can look at your old shoes and watch you walk or run then offer suggestions for appropriate shoes based on your gait. In addition to shoes they have apparel, running fuel like gels and chews, accessories, and really, all things running. Runners in Northern Ky! You no longer have to go to the out of the way locations of some of those other running stores. TriState Running has everything you need. The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable about everything running. I ask them a ton of questions and I have yet to stump any of them. The selection of shoes is excellent will all of the popular brands and styles available. They also have tons of apparel, socks, energy supplements. I wish I had a shopping experience to write about but unfortunately the Edgewood store decided to lock their doors at 3:30 on Sunday when they're advertising clearly states that they are open until 5pm. Considering the Merrimont location is 30 minutes away it's really inconvenient for anyone to drive from Edgewood over into Ohio. No thanks Edgewood store. read more

Just came in to see what they offered. They were very encouraging. Going to try out running group on upcoming Saturday. I ask if newbies were allowed, he laughed, "yes" ! I really appreciate a company that are willing to help even if you dont know what your doing. Both guys were very nice and friendly. They told me a lot of women are a part of the running group that's what I needed to hear. He also stated I have the option of going back if it got too much, that was very thoughtful. I started running a year ago, and went to Tri-State for advice. The staff are knowledgeable, helpful, and the prices are competitive. If they don't have what you need they will get it for you. Tri-State Running Company is a small store that greatly exceeded my expectations! The location is ideal and eliminates the trips that I used to have make into Ohio to find a good selection of running gear. The staff is really knowledgeable (because they are all avid runners) and have recommended some excellent products to make my runs more enjoyable. My favorite feature is their FREE running groups. Other stores charge for this but they organize the group runs, provide training tips and newsletters and even include free performance t-shirts. My friends and I have been to their Ladies Night twice and won great prizes, had a message, enjoyed wine, pizza, sandwiches, even cupcakes while hanging out with our running buddies. Every time I shop Tri-State, it seems like they have added another free service for their customers like bringing in a chiropractor to give free advice to their customers about running injuries and their treatment. Prices are comparable to other running stores but the people here are more helpful and seem more knowledgeable. Overall, I shop here because I appreciate the excellent service I get! read more
