Cherry Valley Ranch Bed & Breakfast

I just stayed at Cherry Valley for a few days for the Tucson Marathon, and I can't recommend it…read morehighly enough. The desert hills in the area are incredibly beautiful, and since the ranch is 100 acres, it feels almost completely undeveloped while you're staying there. The house also has gorgeous views of the surrounding hills. The rooms are well-decorated, very clean, and have a personal feeling and charm that you can't get in a hotel or motel. I stayed in the Manzanita room and found everything very comfortable and spacious. Finally, the owner is very warm and friendly. She made me breakfast just how I wanted it, gave me aloe for my race-induced blisters, and was generally wonderful company for the relatively little time I spent out in the living room. She was also very welcoming when I arrived despite it being 1:45 in the morning due to a delayed flight and getting a little lost on the way. Note: The front gate has a pretty small sign that can be easy to miss at night, but it's right across from a prominent sign at the entrance to Oracle State Park.

Finally my wife and I had a chance to be guests of the Cherry Valley Ranch. The day was perfect as one of the frequent monsoons had passed by and left the temperature of the Ranch in the low daytime 80s and quite a bit cooler at night. We stayed in one of the Casitas' for a night and enjoyed the peaceful valley and cool night temperatures. The breakfast was a very delightful mix of Mexican dishes and fruit prepaired by a local chef. As for the accommodations I suggest that there are times when not having TV, WIFI and other amenities are just what a stress releasing weekend is all about. Loved the place

It is more on the small side so I wouldn't recommend for more than a couple and a dog. It was us 2 plus 2 bigger sized dogs and it was a little packed with the ones kennel. So knowing that I would have picked a different cabin personally. Everything worked, we were warm, the little yard was adorable for the dogs. Although one refused to go poop in the snow which was fun. lol. I loved our time there. One con is that the power went out from using too many things in the kitchen. The shower was freezing and the shower head was awful at taking showers. It's hard to wash your hair and shower fast like that. The bed was also super firm which I know some would love. I loved our time there otherwise.

The pull out mattress was typical, and ok, but not great. The regular bed mattress would be great for someone that wants a hard mattress. Other than the mattresses, there were many things we really would rave about. Parking is ample and easy. The patio is a nice size and seating is good. The cabin was spotless and well stocked. The shower pressure was great and the bathroom is nice. There are a lot of cabinets and drawers for storage. The AC works well. We didn't use the fireplace or grill, but they both looked nice. The grill was clean and stocked wirh fresh charcoal. The towels and bedding were bright white and still soft. Check in and out was easy. The host company was communicative, informative, and friendly.

Miraval is definitely now one of my 'Happy Places'. Upon check-in the staff took care of everything, we were greeted, bags taken away to our room and our car taken away by the valet. The staff were all smiles. Dee Dee checked us in and offered us tour of the property with Steve since it was our first visit here. She also walked us over to the cafe to grab a smoothie to enjoy while on our tour. Steve picked us up, and showed us the whole property while explaining where everything was and small details about the property such as the MULTIPLE pools! We did several classes with lots of variation from Meditation to Vison Boards + health and wellness classes. We really enjoyed spending time with all of their experts learning things from them to improve our daily lives. All of them answered every question without hesitation. A true all-star line up I must say! Let's talk about the FOOD! Every meal/snack we ate here was VERY tasty! Our bodies felt amazing after just one or two meals. Mostly everything they serve is locally sourced and organic. We looked forward to finding out the Chef's special with every meal we sat down to. Diana and Alice were amazing to us, providing us such great service at every meal. We did the "Just cook for me" dinner session with two other couples. We were all strangers, but it was very enjoyable! We spent about 3hrs with our new friends, talking, laughing, enjoying great food and wine cooked up/Served by Zach and Hannah. We did spend some time at the Spa and both of us were very happy with the staff and services provided that we chose. Other visitors we had spoken with said they enjoyed the massages they got. I think we will add that to our list for next visit. The property and staff as a whole, just embody peace, serenity and calmness. My favorite thing about the property is that the pools are 24/7 - We laid on our backs in the saltwater pool at midnight, just looking up at the stars in the Arizona night sky. I didn't have a care in world, just living in the moment. We felt so disconnected here from the outside world (in a good way), and that was something I will always remember and enjoy. Nobody had their phones out (Our stayed in our room the whole time!) and as someone who has to be connected 24/7 usually, this was VERY refreshing. I took all of these photos with my sunglasses. My partner and I had no problem striking up conversations about everything we were experiencing and how we could apply it to our everyday lives. Thank You Miraval for the most amazing life changing experience and we look forward to our next visit!

We stayed here for one week in a spacious and well-equipped two-bedroom unit. Temperature highs were mostly in the 60s and low 70s, making it easy to enjoy the attractions of the Tucson area as well as the resort's outdoor amenities. Grocery stores, restaurants, and shopping are also within a few miles. Location. The resort is in a very quiet location but is convenient to most anything that you might want or need in the area. My husband and I loved the vibe of the area, with wide slow-moving double-laned streets, bike lanes, and many sidewalks, which encourage a lot of the locals to be out walking and biking. We regularly used the resort pool and spacious jacuzzi tub, and walked some of the nearby Virtoso Trails Nature Preserve trails, as well as those of Honeybee Canyon Park, both of which in the Oro Valley and close to the resort. There were stunning sunsets viewable from the resort on most nights. We also used the resort as our base for exploring the Tucson environment -- a drive up to Mt Lemmon/the Coronado National Forest/Catalina State Park; Sabino Recreation Area; both the eastern and western units of Saguaro National Park; Casa Grande Ruins National Monument,, and more. The unit. Our two-bedroom unit was very comfortable, and well-appointed. Six people could stay here comfortably. There was a huge bed in the main bedroom, twin beds in the second bedroom, and a large Murphy bed near the dining table. The kitchen was full-sized and stocked with everything you might need -- fridge/freezer, range/oven, dishwasher, pots/pans, plates/bowls/cups/glasses/knives/utensils, cabinet space for groceries, and even commonly-used spices. Other great features in the unit included a cozy electric fireplace, a patio that had a small table/chairs and a grill and a combo washer/dryer (and starter laundry detergent) in the unit. Communications were excellent, at check-in and in a follow-up phone call to see if we needed anything. Parking was free and directly outside of our unit. Critters. Upon check-in, we were given a handout to remind us that the resort is located in the Sonoran Desert, which is home to many desert critters -- rattlesnakes, javelina, coyote, scorpions & tarantulas, and bobcats. In addition to basic information about the wildlife, the resort provided information about urgent care resources in the area. We're happy to report that we didn't see any poisonous or dangerous creatures, whether on-site or in hiking in Honey Bee, the Sequoga National Park, or the Mt. Lemmon trails. (We did see a coyote in a Phoenix park though). A few minor things worth mentioning. *This resort charges an occupancy tax, which was disclosed at the time of reservation. The tax was $50+ for the week. *When we logged-on to Wi-Fi in the room, we were met by a screen that informed us that Wi-Fi would cost $49.95 for 3 devices for 10 days or $69.95 for 6 devices. Surprised by these charges, my husband called the resort, and were pleasantly surprised when we were given a code that erased the charges. *Some gold crown resorts have jacuzzis in the unit; this one does not. *The tv in the living room is small, but appropriately-sized for its current location. *It'd probably time to upgrade the couches. We alternatively sunk into the cushions or were sliding off. We would definitely stay here again when we return to the Tucson area.

Check-in was smooth, and every staff member we encountered was warm and welcoming. The property has a lot to enjoy--especially the pool area with incredible sunset views. The hot tubs tucked around the resort were also a favorite spot to unwind. We appreciated having nearby grocery stores where we stocked up on food, including steaks for the patio BBQ. Our room itself was comfortable, though the view from our patio was a bit underwhelming, facing the street and neighboring houses. Still, the overall setting of Oro Valley made up for it--the area is clean, scenic, and filled with great dining options, plus plenty of walking and hiking trails to explore. Overall, it's a peaceful getaway spot with beautiful surroundings, friendly service, and relaxing amenities.

Bertha left a sweet birthday card on our bed, and Sherry in the gift shop was so much fun to talk to! 2- We had only visited the bottom of the lodge 4-5 times. This was our first overnight stay. The suite on the 3rd floor was so beautiful with lots of touches to make it feel like home. Kudos to the owner, Diane Osborne, for her talent as an architect and designer. The details show her labor of love. This is not a "chain" hotel. 3- We had a few items in our room that were not cleaned, hair in the shower drain and false eyelashes left stuck on a bedside lamp. Kind of gross. However, Diane came up to our room quickly and first offered to switch us to an upscale suite. We had settled in and did not want to move our bags and food, etc to another room. Then she graciously offered to comp the room. 4-There were numerous apologies from Ken at the front desk, Diane and her husband John. We had the pleasure of talking to both of the owners and learn about their connection to the mountain going back 3 generations! Ask them about their history! 5-I highly recommend booking a stay here. Bring some of your own food or enjoy Beyond Bread, The Cookie Cabin (pizza), The Sawmill restaurant or the Iron Door restaurant on certain days. We will be back! Thank you John and Diane! Eric and Connie Nelson PS- take the stairs at least 1 time to see the beautiful photos throughout the stairwell. Such a nice surprise!

We stayed in one of the…read moresuites, which was plenty roomy and furnished with a full size oven microwave, dishwasher and refrigerator. Due to the last minute nature of our booking, I didn't really plan to cook there, but if one wanted to, the suites are set-up well for it. We packed easy foods like sanwich stuff and snacks, but if I stayed there again, I'd likely prep some dishes at home that I could reheat in the over. The room also is stked with a pots, pans, and a handful of dishes, mugs, silverware. Soap and a clean sponge as well. I was pleased to find the room to be quite clean and the fridge too. The plateware/mugs are from HF Coors, which is a nice local touch! The suite also has a nice patio with a table and a firepit. It also has direct access to the sauna. The lodge is cozy and everyone we encountered, including the owners were very friendly and accomodating. As others have noted, Beyond Bread is located inside the lodge. Those reviews really should be posted on a separate page for Beyond Bread, but that is the only food option in the lodge. We did not eat there during our stay, but we peaked in and the space is large with plenty of seating, a large TV, and games. The lodge also offers covered patio seating with additional firepits, and foosball. With so much seating , I feel like the lodge is missing out on generating additional business. It seems like people just pop in and sit around. It would really make this place even better if they had a bar so guests can enjoy a cocktail or beverage on the patio and enjoy the live piano music. I value cleanliness and excellent customer service and the lodge delivered on both. When we booked, the room description listed ROKU as one of the amenities. Which I thought was great because we figured with the weather conditions, we might have some movie nights. When we arrived, we found that the room did not have a Roku, we called the front desk to inquire, and it turns out that the hotel actually doesn't equip the rooms with Roku, but the owner took responsibility for the misinformation on their site and ended up getting one for us in Tucson. I was impressed by this gesture for sure. We'd stay here again!
