(NOTE: not too many pictures taken as the food was really distracting) They earned every point on that Micheline star! MommaK, Glammom and I had an amazingly wonderful time at TriCiclo. We found it unexpectedly while happily wandering through Madrid. Immediately we made a reservation. This place took us promptly, had a wonderful wine list and a smaller menu (2 pages) - I love this as this means they spend more time on each dish. MommaK and I each had the chefs 6 course tasting menu - no idea what we'd get (like Omikase) - well oo wa! Cabbage wrapped beef, prawns wrapped in a mint leaf, just to name a few! The mix and matches were well thought out and the taste was astounding! Glammom had ceviche and steak tartar perfectly seasoned. This was heaven! The room was nicely decorated and the staff well trained. The sound track was a bit weird with something like Muzak in the background - but who cares?! Worth it, worth it, WORTH IT! Go you fools!

Madrid is known for exceptional food and this spot - a Michellin Bib Gourmand was beyond expectation! This is an exceptional restaurant with atmosphere, service and excellent cuisine. The main dining area feels like a cave with access to nature. Rustic and charming it compliments the dishes. The oxtail and potato special starter was amazing. Next on our list was oysters from France both grilled and marinaded. We chose wine by the glass to meet each dish. Cava with oysters. Rose with oxtail and then leeks and mushrooms. The tinto vino for the rest. I would encourage creating your own tasting menu as we did. Go from tapas dishes to veggies and finish with a meat. I love that the portions included half plate options. It made the tasting light and fun! Dessert is not to be missed. And I don't want to forget the amazing farm fresh bread and smoked butter!

Great michelin restaurant with creative & fusion food. Service is exceptional with very friendly staff. I highly recommend this restaurant to all.

Everything is great especially service. We went in early at their opening hour without reservations. The restaurant filled up quickly, but it was a great experience. I recommend if you visit Madrid

A modern tapas restaurant. We walked in for a late lunch without reservations and was able to get seated without an issue. Lucky us! All the staff were attentive, patient and kind. Our waiter patiently and explained what each dish was and if there was a language barrier, he grabbed someone who can explain to us in English. Presentation was a 10/10 and all the flavors worked well together. We only ordered two raw tapas, but after trying the oyster and prawns, I wished we had also ordered the ceviche dishes - it was our fav. I would come back solely just for the bread and olive oil lol, it was that good! This will be on our recommendation list for our friends visiting Madrid.

Cerviche- outstanding. Do NOT miss this dish

Outstanding. From the service to each and every small plate we tried everything was perfection. Definitely our best meal in Madrid and perhaps one of the best restaurants I'v been to anywhere. You can decide what portion size you prefer to order for each menu item ( small, medium or large). We decided to get the smallest portion of each item so that we could sample more of a variety of items. The meal came with complementary homemade bread and special olive oil and smoked butter ( worth the splurge). There was then a complementary appetizer which included a small cracker with foie gras as well as a strawberry flavored tomato which was amazing. We then ordered the steak tartar, cerviche , tuna tartar with avocado , sashimi ( this is no ordinary sashimi and the presentation was absolutely gorgeous), as well as a tomato/ burrata/ anchovy salad. Every single one was flavorful, unique and melt-in - your mouth memorable. If you are a foodie don't pass this restaurant up. Fantastic!

Amazing service and food. We got the 9 course and 2 dessert entourage which was not to disappoint. This Michelin rated restaurant was superb from display to taste to service. Tucked in its quaint from the outside and more expensive than your typical places in Madrid but worth every euro. They serve bread selections throughout the course and of course you must choose a wine to go with your meal bc Spain duh. Even your best wine won't run you more than $50 euros. Europe is strange in that any tipping at all is very unexpected but we def tipped well bc we showed up an hour before their 11pm late curfew and then of course ended up ordering the whole farm but they were so gracious in allowing us to enjoy and even provided an extra after dinner liquor sipper. Check the pics for some mouth wAtering goodness

    Ridiculously expensive: 2€/piece of rigatoni! 2€/asparagus! 7€/canelonni

I tend to do a lot of planning before any trip, and a good portion of that planning is where we're going to eat, so I tend to not make many mistakes, but TriCiclo was one of them. It's not that the food isn't very well prepared and tasty, it's just that it is a ragingly horrible value, and I'm really value-oriented in my reviews (the whole QPR - "quality/price ratio). What I liked: the food was very good, and the wines were decent values (in fact a glass of TRUS (2012 Crianza) I really enjoyed for about 4euro I found in the store a day later for 18E per bottle, so the wines were actually cheaper by the glass here than at retail!). For this reason (value of the wines), I'm giving TriCiclo a 3, and not a 2. On to the food: we ordered half portions of several items, as we had the previous night at nearby Vinoteca Moratin (which I highly recommend), in order to sample as much of the menu as possible. But what we got was shocking: a 16E half portion of rigatoni consisted of EIGHT pieces of the pasta - that's 2E per noodle!! Another pasta special was similarly hilarious in it's small size. An entire portion of Ceviche could have fit inside an espresso cup, and on and on. Small portions are great when you are enjoying a 10-course meal, but when you paying between 10-20 euros for each course, it's a shocker. TripAdvisor put TriCiclo several hundred spots down on the "best restaurants" list for Madrid, and I have to agree (and should have heeded that result in making my plans). I also have to agree with TripAdvisor putting neighboring "Vinoteca Moratin" in the top ten. The 2 restaurants are diametric opposites measured in terms of value, and I urge you to reserve at the former if your time in Madrid is limited.

This is my second visit to Triciclo. The ambiance, decor, menu design, execution of the dishes, flavors and service are impecable. The menu changes with available ingredients - and all their dishes are exquisitely prepared. This time, we ordered their signature shrimp appetizer, a burrata salad, a crunchy vegetable pot with a poached egg placed in the center of the broth, the cochinillo, lobster in red curry sauce (WOW!). I am still trying to figure out what dish was my favorite. No time to photograph desserts though, both were 'Gone in 60 Seconds'. I will be back - every time I return to Madrid - for sure!

This was by far the best restaurant we tried in Madrid. Great food. Amazing wines. And the service was phenomenal. If I ever go back to Madrid, it will be on my list for sure. Highly recommend! Also got the oxtail cannelloni, didn't take a pic cause we ate it too fast. It was the best meal we ordered.

Triciclo was highly recommended and so I dropped by for dinner. I couldn't decide what to get and so I opted for the 6 course tasting menu + one dessert (50€). The first course was a Prawn dish. The prawn was sweet and crisp; wrapped in a shiso leaf and then dipped in a sauce added some herby tangy flavours. Quite good but extremely small to be considered a course. The next dish was a creamy zesty spicy shrimp with crunchy nuts on the side. This was good but again, I found the portion to be quite small - the plate was mainly filled with sauce. The 3rd course was a pork belly with octopus. The octopus was nicely grilled and flavoured and the pork was tender and had a slightly spicy bbq flavoured sauce. The salad was tangy with a little spice. The Cod was light, flakey and moist with a crisp skin. It paired well with the sweet peas. The Tartare with chips was my favorite dish. Acorn fed Iberian pork tartare has the most amazing buttery & nutty taste and was incredibly creamy with the raw egg. The crispy flat bead and chips were well seasoned and not too oily. The Wild Rabbit Callaloni with parmesan cheese was really rich and creamy - probably a little TOO rich with the addition of the cheese. The rabbit was juicy but I disliked the texture since it was ground up to fit into the canaloni. For dessert, I had the Brownie with house-made olive ice cream. This was actually quite good. The brownie was not too sweet and quite airy - probably due to the amount of walnuts in it. The ice cream was more like whipped cream and tasted like olive oil rather than olives. There was a nice crunchy base which had a good amount of walnuts in it. Overall, I found the experience to be underwhelming. Given that it was a tasting menu, I usually expect courses to be explained to me but some courses were just set down on the table. The food itself was good but not spectacular and portions were fairly small. Despite this, it still seems to be a fairly popular and I saw many walk ins who were turned away. If coming I would recommend to just get the ibérico tartare and brownie and forgo the tasting menu.

    The steak tartare

I was wandering through the neighborhood, finding my way back to my hotel, when Google Maps brought me to the doorstep of this gastropub. It's very popular here and I had decided to forego it as some reviews said the service was a bit on the rude side. Not being fluent in Spanish, I assumed I would just infuriate them. But the menu was enticing and the staff was very welcoming when I stepped inside. It was midday so not crowded. I had three small plates. I knew I wanted to try the steak tartare, so the waiter recommended a prawn with shisho and miso to start. It was beautifully serviced atop green leaves (Thai basil, mint, coriander, shaved green onion and what looked like a large geranium leaf) and a fresh and fruity sauce. It was gone in two bites, and was delicious! The second plate was a autumn vegetable selection, which on this day was assorted mushrooms. It was warm and hearty and the egg on top made it very rich and satisfying. The final course was the steak tartare. It was both lovely and delicious, well seasoned and served atop a crusty slice of toast. There was a nice hit of pepper at the end of every bite, which I really enjoyed I had a bottle of water and a mixed drink. I was looking for something fruity with vodka and ended up with a shot of Absolute, a cocktail glass with ice, and a small bottle of Minute Maid pineapple juice. It tasted much better than it sounds because, well, Vodka. Sadly, I observed an employee leave the bathroom without washing her hands. I hope not to have any ill effects, because I reported this to the waiter. This is why I gave it four stars instead of 5. My total bill was just under 36 Euros. Yes, it was on the expensive side, but I am on holiday and live in a place where food like this is nonexistent. The waiter and bartender were very friendly and the food tasted fantastic. #worthit

Alright, as I continue to try to catch up on all the review drafts I wrote while on vacation, at…read morethis point a whole 5 months ago... I know this one was exactly 5 months ago, because we touched down in Madrid on New Years Day, and this was the first place we ate (sounds like they've been here for aeons, so I doubt they've changed significantly since January.) My plan when we landed had been to just go down the list I'd made before we left of the best quick food places near our hotel, and eat at the first one that *was* open on New Years. I was worried there wouldn't be any and we'd be eating snacks from a convenience store, but nope! This place was indeed open. Open, and an absolute *madhouse*. I'm not sure if it was just because it was New Years, they were open, and much of the street wasn't, or if they're always this crazy - but it was a decent wait to order, to the point that it wasn't *entirely* clear whether we were even waiting correctly to order, since the line had kind of turned into a blob. Ordering and picking up our food was slightly nerve-wracking with how crowded it was, and there didn't really appear to be anywhere inside to sit, so we figured we'd sit outside at the tables... that we got immediately yelled at for sitting at, because it turns out all the tables right outside their entrance, actually belongs to their next door neighbor. So if I were ever back in Madrid, I *would* totally consider getting food here again, but I'd just probably plan on bringing it back to the hotel, vs what we ended up doing, finding the closest nearby flat non-private surface and eating it standing up in an alley. It definitely felt like a cool historic building inside, though, would've loved to dine in, if it hadn't been wall-to-wall packed, which it sounds like they might just always be. Food was great, though. We shared (this was plenty of food): An order of the cider-braised sausages - wonderful. Bonus, we learned from personal experience, you definitely want to get an order of these sausages, as not only are the sausages themselves delicious, the resulting au jus was also great for dipping the other items into.) An order of the ham and cheese croquettes - pretty tasty, though they did fall apart. Even tastier dipped in sausage juice, though then they *really* fell apart. Worth it though. Didn't look like you got a lot per order, but looks are deceiving - they were *rich*. An order of their famous mushrooms - I was a bit surprised, given the name literally means "the mushroom bar", that they only had a single mushroom dish, though given the sheer volume of that one item they clearly sell nightly, I can see why. Anyway, as a mushroom fan... they were certainly tasty mushrooms, perfectly cooked, but in my opinion, just a bit oversalted. Also had a glass of sangria for 2.50 euro - it is extremely good sangria, though the glass for 2.50 was pretty small. They also sell it for a better price by the larger container, but sadly, while I absolutely loved the European spirit of trusting people to be responsible after leaving with a to-go alcoholic beverage... they don't sell the *larger* sized sangria if you aren't dining in. Was too bad, as I absolutely would have loved twice as much of that sangria, but it clearly wasn't worth standing in a long ordering line a second time for it.

On one hand, it's the…read more*exact* sort of quietly-pretentious cocktail bar experience I absolutely love, where all the drinks have been carefully curated with a bunch of small-batch ingredients, most of them, in this case, made in house. Each drink we ordered had an absolutely precisely perfect, super-unique presentation, and you could tell they were all carefully designed. I especially loved, while they don't advertise being a distillery, several cocktails even use their own in-house spirits, which if you ask about it and you're ordering a bunch of cocktails, you can just try a tasting flight for free. That was just super cool - you can buy bottles of some of them, too. Bit pricey at ~40 euro for a half-bottle, but they also distill some seriously unusual stuff, including one, used in their now-my-gold-standard bloody mary, distilled from a variety of mixed vegetables, the first time I'd *ever* seen a spirit distilled entirely from vegetables. On the other hand, with the exception of that bloody mary, all the drinks we had, especially for the price, were just... good. I loved the attention to detail on all of them, I could tell a lot of intention and effort went into each one, and again, it's always cool when you're drinking something that was distilled specifically by and for the bar you're at. But I also feel like I remember, mostly, a lot more about the presentation of the drinks and how much work went into some of the ingredients, than what most of them actually tasted like. On the third hand... that bloody mary. Seriously probably the best bloody mary I've had, as you'd expect from a place that hand-crafts literally everything including the base spirit. Assuming they still have it and it wasn't only on a temporary/seasonal menu... I'd go back for more of those, if I were ever back in Madrid. (If it was on a temporary/seasonal menu... too bad for me. I'll be savoring the half-bottle of the spirit I absolutely brought home with me, anyway! Though I still won't be making their bloody mary, which also used their own mix of several fresh-made stocks, for maximum flavor while also being totally clear still. That was super cool, and again, absolutely delicious.) Would I put it in my own personal "best bars anywhere on the planet" list? Probably not - that's a... lot of competition. Is it the best cocktail bar in Madrid? Also in my opinion, no, if I could only recommend one craft cocktail bar in Madrid, it'd be Salmon Guru. But if someone just asked me for recommendations for Madrid cause I'd been there, I could recommend any number of places, and they liked fancy, not-cheap craft cocktails? This would also go on the list, if that hypothetical person had time for two, as we did. Definitely do make a reservation, though. When we got there right when they opened, we were the only ones there... but that definitely didn't remain true.

When I found out I was coming to Madrid I had to book a table. First things first, my suggestion is book way in advance. This place fills up fast. My friend and I waited too long and the only seating we could get was at 11:15 PM. No big deal though there's plenty of places you can get a light snack in the surrounding area while exploring the city. Walking in, the architecture immediately hits you. Low ceilings, gorgeous old brick, tight dining rooms, it really feels like you stepped back in time. The whole atmosphere is elevated without being stiff. Staff was super friendly and made the experience feel smooth from start to finish. There's also apprently a really nice wine cellar at the bottom I overheard other patrons bragging about. Food wise, I will keep it real, it was good, just not my favorite meal in Madrid. The sangria was solid, definitely one of my highlights. The croquettes were fire. Crispy, creamy, exactly what you want. My friend's seafood casserole was actually really good too, I lowkey wish I went that route. Now the misses. The sautéed vegetables with Iberian ham didn't do it for me. The veggies needed seasoning bad, and the ham leaned a little too salty, so together it just felt off. The suckling pig, the signature dish, was good, but I was not blown away. If I find myself returning here, I would explore other options. After dinner, there was a little show and they let you keep a souvenir menu, which was a nice touch and made the night feel more memorable. Overall I had a solid 3.5 star experience rounded up to 4. Sobrino de Botín is history, it is iconic, and it is worth saying you have been. Just do not expect it to be the best meal of your trip. Hit Botín, soak it in, then go explore the rest of Madrid's food scene, because that is where things really start to shine.

The squid was also very good, but the standout dish was the asparagus in tempura with almond mayonnaise. Perfectly fried and incredibly light, it was absolutely outstanding. Another highlight was the homemade Iberian ham croquettes served with candied pepper sauce which were creamy and rich on the inside with a delicate crisp on the outside and a wonderful balance of flavor. To accompany the meal, we enjoyed a few glasses of Rioja Azpilicueta Crianza (Tempranillo, Graciano, and Mazuelo, 12 months aging, 2021). It was a bit on the dry side, but helped take the edge off the chilly wind while we sat outside enjoying a late lunch. The staff were friendly and accommodating, even indulging my enthusiasm for photographing the slicing of the Iberian ham. All in all, La Mi Venta delivered a fantastic, authentic Spanish dining experience with great food, good wine, and welcoming service in a charming setting. Definitely worth a visit if you're in Madrid.

This is a spot that feels like a little bar but is actually more like a casa with some food items…read more Here, they are big on pig and there are Iberico hams located on and around the bar for easy access. If you are vegan, coming here will only piss you off. In fact, a vegan in Madrid in general is ill-advised. The setting feels historic and rustic with exposed brick and stone that appears to be centuries old. They seem to make everything (both food and drink) behind that cramped bar which explains why most of their menu items are cold, pre-made, or easy to assemble from short lists of raw ingredients. This does not mean that anything is bad. It just means it is like producing charcuterie in a dorm room bar. A large number of items involve Iberico Ham and one of the barmen is constantly shaving off thin pieces for service. In fact the freebie snack they send out from the kitchen had some Iberico ham and Manchego cheese on it which was a really nice warm up of what to expect. Over the noonish lunch hour, I was the only tourist in the place surrounded by many locals that clearly know about this spot. I liked those odds for assuring me of a genuine authentic experience. It was an accurate predictor. I'm not the most experienced when it comes to true Spanish tapas but this seemed to be a very genuine depiction of what the locals look for in a rustic Iberico ham experience. And frankly, even if it wasn't I can't find anything to really complain about. It was a cool historic setting, there was ice-cold vermouth from a tap, and I spent an hour shoving local Morcilla (blood sausage) and Iberico pig parts into my pie hole for the better part of an hour. It was a great experience any way you choose to look at it.
