Once there is just a matter of checking in and waiting for the nurse to call you and take you inside. This office basically do Bone Marrow biopsies, needed in order to find out how healthy the production of blood cells in your body is by taking a sample of the bone marrow from the hip bone. Also to determine if cancer has migrated to the bone marrow. Procedure takes about 5 minutes but prepping takes 2 hours and recovery only one hour. All professionals that work here are very caring. Doctors and nurses are an example here, so anyone else coming here be confident things will go in the right direction with first class attention to details and knowing that these people know what they are doing with the latest in technology and state of the art equipment. For such a delicate procedure to take only 5 minutes they really use the latest equipment, don't let the age of this building fool you to think otherwise.

Or better. These folks don't often get their due. I want to say Thank You!! You are appreciated. Latoya started it all off with a beautiful smile and a perfect ending with parking validation. Hope more people start writing about their health care experiences as these folks are some of our unsung heroes!! Three cheers!!!

Had to come to this place to an appointment my wife made with an renowned Oncologist. You come here…read moreby referral only meaning you already have a cancer diagnosis and these people move at the speed of light to start your treatment For starters location and traffic is complicated. Parking is convenient at 97 Jonathan Lucas St located just across the street, take the parking ticket with you, it will be validated at check in and save you a few bucks. This is an older building and lacks good signage like most hospitals, designed with lack of common sense and poor planning of customer needs BUT that is a minuscule thing to go through because the people that work here have a heart and I mean a big heart, very professional and understanding of your problem. The ladies behind the counter at the check in desk are very nice and compassionate with everyone in line. The lab appointment is generally scheduled before you see the specialist and they move quickly specially if you get there ahead of your appointment time, not so much the doctor appointment but understandably due to the number of patients that come to this location and because appointment takes longer for the number of questions you ask the Doctor that so patiently responds unlike other doctor's offices where you are a number and the turnstile rotates in 10 minutes or less and it is time to leave and you get to your car and remember you still had 4 questions, Next patient please! not here, quite the opposite nurses, PA's and Doctors and lab technicians will spend time with you without looking at their watch. It is a different environment, you won't believe it until you see it. 100 stars easily

There were 2 other patients also waiting. The other patients were called in. At 12:25 PM, I noted that it appeared that everyone was leaving for lunch. I waited another 5 minutes and knocked on the lab door. No one answered. About 2 minutes later a heavy set woman (technician I think) appeared and told me that I would have to come back later. I'm not certain what is happening at the labs there, but something is wrong. I went to another appoint and returned at 2:30 PM and they drew my blood labs. I have noticed that in the last 6 months that the service (other than the doctors), was not what it should be. I found out that MUSC has a "C" rating from the Leap Frog Group (a national nonprofit watchdog). They stated "Charleston (University Medical Center): Earned a "C" grade, frequently penalized for issues like C. diff infections and certain post-surgery complications." Roper has an "A".

Specifically at the 2060 Sam Rittenburg location in Charleston. I called to make an appointment but was told I need a referral. I thought that was interesting because my insurance carrier does NOT require a referral, but I complied by having my records faxed to both doctors' attention at the fax number that was provided. I confirmed that the fax was successfully sent on 1/28/2025 at 12:13pm. The Roper St Francis admin told me on the phone that I would be contacted within 72 hours following receipt of the records to schedule an appointment. I called Roper back on 1/31 and shared I had confirmation of my records being faxed...just wanted to confirm that they had what they needed so I could get an appointment. Was put on hold. Admin came back and told me she had left a message for the "scheduler," and I should expect to hear back in (another) 72 hours. I expressed frustration at this, because now we are talking 144 hours and I am low on insulin and am out of Dexcoms. Well, she "left a message." And here we are on February 3rd, 2024. Do you think anyone from Roper has called me? Nope.

It actually is a good thing to be able to assess a situation from both sides. I hope none of you ever need a transplant, but if you do, we are here for you. Have your family doctor make a referral on-line, by phone or by fax. This building is only office space, so you most likely will never actually see the inside of it unless you decide you need a job. Our outpatient clinics are in the Rutledge Tower and the Ashley River Tower, depending on the specific organ. The Blood and Marrow transplant program is run under the Hollings umbrella now and is no longer part of our centre. We can however provide some insight if necessary and have quite a few contacts over there to get you started. We currently provide all solid organ transplants on adults and pediatric patients. We have dedicated Social Workers and Financial Coordinators to help guide you through the process. You will also be assigned to a team of nurses and program assistants who will monitor your health and provide updates as to your status towards a transplant. We do have a small parking lot in front of our building in case you just need to drop off some paperwork, but there is also the Rutledge-Ashley garage next door. You can get your parking ticket validated through the clinic, or you might want to try the valet service for a flat fee. Again, if ever you need us, we are here, but I'm honestly hoping that I don't need to see you anytime soon. Take Care!
