I rarely write reviews, but Stephen at Tried & True Irrigation absolutely earned this one. I originally called because one irrigation zone had stopped working. After trying to troubleshoot it myself (and making things considerably more confusing!), Stephen came out for a diagnostic and quickly sorted through years of previous repairs and workarounds. He discovered that one controller output had failed, a previous contractor had combined two zones as a temporary fix, one of the drip valves had failed, and the original valve wiring needed to be remapped correctly. Rather than simply replacing a single part and leaving me with an aging system, he took the time to explain my options without any pressure. I decided to replace the controller, all five valves, solenoids, and wiring so the entire irrigation system would essentially be brand new. The workmanship is outstanding. The wiring is clean and organized, every valve is labeled, the controller is programmed and clearly documented, and everything now works exactly as it should. What impressed me most was Stephen's professionalism, honesty, and communication. He patiently answered all of my questions, explained what he was finding, and made sure I understood why each recommendation was being made. It's obvious he takes pride in doing the job right rather than just getting the job done. I had water pouring out of a crack in my driveway every time my sprinklers went on. I called Tried and True and asked if Stephen would take a look and give me an estimate. We assumed that there was a break in the pipe that ran under the driveway, so part of the concrete would probably have to be removed to get at the leak. I was informed that the cost could be between $2,000 and $3,000. When Stephen arrived and saw the leak, he thought he could hear water bubbling at a spot near the side of the driveway. Sure enough, when he lifted some bricks and a large stepping stone, water gushed up exposing a break in the pipe. Stephen was able to fix the leak, as well as replace a 30-year old timer at my request, all that same afternoon and at a cost far less than what was originally estimated. I had a drip irrigation zone with a bad solenoid, causing the system to remain in the on position and not run through other zones. Stephen was able to fix the problem and recommended updating the remaining solenoids (20 yrs old) to prevent future problems and save money on the installation cost for multiple valves. Highly recommended for drainage. We had an issue with our backyard draining after our sprinklers ran or after a steady rainfall and we could have pools of water on our patio and the low spots in the yard. While most companies called wanted to trench to our front yard and install sump pumps, Stephen came in with a very simple and efficient solution that met our needs. He gave us a quote and was able to complete the installation of a French drain in a day. He made sure to run water through the new system to sow how it worked. We had a rainstorm the week after the French drain was installed and the new drain system worked exactly like Stephen suggested.
