And everyone on her staff is just as nice as well! And this place is so clean and trendy and modern inside, I felt like there was no way I had just walked into a dental office. I could have spent hours here, because it just felt so welcoming and open. PLUS, want to know the best part?? THEIR CHAIRS. OMG THEY ARE AMAZING. I kid you not, the second I sat in their chair for my cleaning, it was like memory foam underneath the nicest, softest leather ever. I couldn't get over it! I told every person that came into my room there, how amazing those chairs are, because I was literally in awe of them. I even lived in Los Angeles for two years, and they had flat screen tvs at every chair which impressed me a lot there, but I would trade in any of those flat screens for one of these chairs in a heart beat! That chair alone, will make me want to come and get all of my dental work done here! And they even compliment you during your visit! We all hate going to the dentist, but meeting such nice, warm people and sitting in that chair, made this one of the best dental cleaning appointments I have ever had in my 25 years of life. So if you live in Boston, especially if you live in Somerville, this is the only dentist you should be considering. So I hope you found your dentist now, because I definitely found mine!

Nightmare on COLLEGE AVE!…read more I walked through the beautiful doors of this fine establishment quite impressed with the wall decor, seats, pristine white walls. Wow, why haven't I come here before? I have been going to my wonderful dentist in Medford at Omni Dentix but I needed a specialist to take care of my swollen gums. The periodontist that works with my dentist schedule is limited so I was able to get an appointment at this establishment that owns the whole building of orthodontist, periodontist, and dental services. I should of known better when I arrived promptly at my 4:15 appointment I already had a missed call from them in error, "oops, I called you my mistake thinking you were late for your appointment, I thought it was at 4:00 pm." They were nice so no big deal. I went with the dental assistant to the beautiful comfy state of the art chair, x-ray exam room and waited while behind me conversations flowed for about 15 minutes while I waited. I asked what was the delay, well to find out the dental floor was quite busy and they don't want to share some of the x-ray equipment needed that they are running low on. Yes, great a beautiful lucrative office with not sufficient equipment and a lack of team players that don't want to share equipment. I wait patiently in my chair. I need this consultation. I meditate in my share. The dental assistant is very pleasant but unfortunately doesn't have control of this situation. Finally, after 20 minutes, the x-ray session begins and it felt as if it never ended. After, my dental assistant tried several times and my poor mouth tortured with these plates, and large items in my mouth, she realizes the machine isn't working, 20 more minutes have gone by. I do complain that it feels that I am a guinea pig and that something isn't working right. They finally change me to another chair, another few tortures minutes go by, I can tell my dental assistant is having some trouble and is assembling, reassembling these items at times while they are in my mouth and this isn't comfortable at all. Another person, comes in, I believe hygienist, looks over and informs her, that she had the x-ray plate the wrong way the whole time and that is why they haven't been coming out..... GREAT!!! Now I have been here close to an hour. I have faith, this will start moving around. The hygienist helps with a few and leaves although my inside voices is yelling and singing the song by KC and the sunshine band "PLEASE DON'T GO, Don't GO! DON'T GO Away!" BUT she does. My dental assistant, calling me honey, Okay, lets try this again, she begins again for another 10-15 minutes, manipulating these x-ray tools in my mouth. I hear people after a bit asking her "are you okay? You need help?" Then, another male dental assistant comes, it's 5:40 pm, he takes a look at the x-rays and tells her, she hasn't done most of them correctly. I tell them, I am done. I cannot continue to do this. THIS HAS BEEN TORTURE! First of all, 1 1/2 hour and I haven't even completed x-rays. I have better things to do in my life than be tortured. I had to listen to the lack of team players in this office, poor management, my dental assistant was nice but obviously not yet prepared to work on a patient at all. The liability around this is serious! I spoke to office manager who was nice and obviously concerned but this should of been handled 20 minutes in the delay. After I complained they told me well do you have x-rays from your doctors office that they can send over for the consultation? Then we wouldn't have to complete the x-rays? That would have been an great question in the beginning!!! It would of prevented the agony and torture that I underwent in this office! WORST EXPERIENCE EVER!!!! They better not bill my insurance. The dental assistants should have better training and be supervised better before they are working on patients. She was very personable and kind. It wasn't her fault but the management that didn't properly train and supervise this. Obviously, this business has grown so much that they have no control for what's going on!

Then my hygienist Shayleigh, came to get me, she walked me through everything in detail. I met with Dr. Christopher Treon, I let him know everything that was bothering me. Come to find out they don't even do the kind of filling my insurance fully covers at their office even though they claimed my insurance always pays 60%. I paid $800 out of pocket for 4 tiny cavities to be filled. Definitely don't recommend going there especially if you have united Concordia.

She stated it was "illegal" for me to defer X-Rays as part of my treatment at this practice. When I questioned this, she changed her claim that it was "illegal" for her if I deferred X-Rays. She then claimed that I would be "discharged" as a patient if I refused her recommendations. She suggested I ask my family members who are dentists (I have 3 dentists in my family and all said deferring X-Rays was not "illegal" and that Dr. Kramer was being unreasonable. They had never encountered this in their own practices). She also suggested I "Google" this to verify she was correct. So I did: "The frequency of needing dental X-rays depends on your dental health status. To guide dentists and limit the amount of radiation to which patients are exposed, the American Dental Association (ADA) says in their 2012 recommendations that dentists should always perform a clinical examination and evaluate a person's oral and medical history before taking any X-rays, and that the guidelines are subject to the treating dentist's clinical judgment--in short, determining the need for X-rays before taking them. If you have a history of extensive decay or periodontal problems, for example, your dentist may suggest taking X-rays more often than someone who doesn't. And because of their developing teeth and jaws, children may need X-rays more often than adults. Paul Manos, DDS, Dental Director for United Concordia Dental in California, adds: "The types of X-rays to take, as well as how often and how many, should be based on the individual clinical needs of the patient, as determined by the treating dentist. One size does not fit all when it comes to dental X-rays." The ADA recommendation for a posterior bitewing exam for an adult with decay present and an increased risk for cavities is every six to 12 months, whereas someone with no decay or increased risk may be able to go as long as two to three years between having X-rays taken." The issue I have with Dr. Kramer is that there was no offer to discuss my concerns regarding radiation exposure. I am a physician and graduate of Harvard Medical School. My father (who is a dentist) battled thyroid cancer, possibly induced by years of radiation exposure as a practicing dentist. She was concrete, dogmatic, and rigid. She clearly did not think I would "Google" her claim that refusing annual X-Rays was "illegal". While she, like all dentists, does maintain some general liability for not recommending X-Rays if there is a bad outcome in treatment, she left out the fact that she could simply document her recommendations and my refusal in my chart, and cover her liability completely. Her tone indicated that she was used to compliant, unquestioning patients, and that she was not prepared to engage in a thoughtful discussion regarding the risks and benefits of dental X-Rays. She was clearly not prepared to respect my request to defer them to every 2-3 years, something every other dentist has done throughout my lifetime of dental care. Since Dr. Kramer already threatened my "discharge" from the practice, I will beat her to the punch. I had been considering moving to the Jessica Ristuccia, DMD at Drum Hill Dental (she was my former dentist at Great Meadows) for some time now. I will move my treatment and chart tomorrow. Dr. Kramer made my decision easy.

I wound up using his competent periodontist but it turns out she only comes once a month and will only see you in his office. I went back just about two weeks later in misery and saw Dr. Boris. That was a problem being Boris was not the surgeon and could not answer my question which likely bugged him. I admit I had anxiety but instead of explaining things, he was rude. He was dismissive and told me to go to dental school when I asked a couple of questions while looking at the final xray. The truth is that I had a very difficult extraction and bone graft because of a root canal and post. I was in a lot of painful discomfort after 12 days I wanted him to check the healing. He also did not like that i used a swear word as a modifier to describe the giant hole in my mouth. In fact, he yelled it back to me. Doubt it would have offended him as much if i were a man. I am passing on using him. Currently, it's two months and the bone graft is pressing on my outer gum and pulling it down. I understand that my early morning extraction by Dr. Bonino set her back for the day, but I would have liked more pre and post consultation instead of a boiler plate handout. It felt a bit like "Next!" I should add that i had asked the receptionist for numbers on treatment cost. Estimating with paper and pencil, she told me to bring 500 for the extraction. i was charged over 1,000. I guess it may have been the graft material? I received no formal itemized treatment plan. This said, Dr. Boris is the dentist of a friend of mine and she recommended him. As on a previous review, I suspect i triggered his need to be perfectionist and in control but in actuality I was the periodontist's patient.

Dr. Jones was unbelievably comforting, caring, engaging and warm. She treats her patients feel like they are good friends, and this puts them in a relaxed state. Her staff is also wonderful, handling phone calls calmly, without rushing the callers. Her assistants show true care, letting you know that everything will be all right with a gentle word. I can't say enough wonderful things about Dr. Jones. You will not be disappointed with the quality and caliber of care you will receive there!

I've been to Dr. Schick 2 or 3 times to have my teeth cleaned and once to have some cavities…read morefilled. He seemed to work really fast (not in a good way) and wasn't exactly gentle. Where my old dentist would let me spit and take a break ever several minutes, Dr. Schick relies on the suctiony thing and that can be exhausting on your throat. (Sorry...is that tmi?) Also, getting my fillings in was a worse experience than I expected and my teeth were uber sensitive for months afterwards in those spots. So, I think he's a perfectly competent dentist, but I'm going to find a new one for now. After all, there's like a gazillion in Davis Sq. to choose from!
