Several weeks later, I was sent a bill for an additional $250. Hmmm. I called to see why I was being billed twice and the secretary said the first bill was just an estimate, which she claims to have explained to me. That never happened. If I knew the real price, I would have had them pull the tooth. I tried to explain why this was unfair and I should not be responsible, but the woman got angry and yelled at me. I told my mother about this and she said she had the EXACT same problem with them. As far as I'm concerned, THIS IS EXTORTION!

In an abundance of precaution, I sought a second referral from my own dentist and got the exact same recommendation. My son is young for such a procedure but Dr. Starling was really great about letting him know what to expect and ensuring he was comfortable throughout. Paula runs the office smoothly and efficiently and is an absolute pleasure to deal with. I am embarrassed to report I was late for our appointment due to a gps mishap and they were super understanding about it. Again, I was impressed by their handling of the situation. It was what it was - but it was kind of them to not make us feel any worse than we already did - and professional of them to notify the next patient that they would be running a few minutes behind. I would highly recommend Dr. Starling & staff based upon the experiences I have had with them. Although I hope to not be in the market for Endodontics anytime soon, I now know exactly where to go if I have the need.

When I first called, I was offered a virtual consultation the following day, which I completed thinking I would be able to schedule an in-office visit shortly after. However, I was told the next available appointment was about a month away. Although that was frustrating, I still scheduled it. Later, my sister received a follow-up text from the office about confirming an appointment. She also had reached out to inquire about Invisalign. But By that time they finally replied to her, she had already decided to move forward with another dental office, so she asked if I could take that available slot instead. The office replied saying that would be fine. However, when I was about five minutes away from the office, the receptionist, Hannah, called and said there had been some confusion and that I should keep my original appointment. That was extremely frustrating because I had already rearranged my schedule and was on my way. It didn't make sense that I was told I could come in if I ultimately couldn't be seen to conduct the appointment in its entirety. When I eventually had my appointment, the doctor and the back-of-house staff were very kind and professional. The visit itself was going well, and I told the doctor I wanted to move forward with Invisalign. I was then told it would take about four weeks for the trays to come in. I've had Invisalign before and know it often takes closer to two weeks, but I was still willing to proceed. The biggest issue came when discussing payment. I was given four payment options, and I asked if I could use my dental insurance and pay the remaining balance with my CareCredit card. I was told that wasn't possible. They mentioned they asked the doctor and apologized, but the answer remained no. I've never experienced a dental office being so restrictive about how a patient chooses to pay. It also makes the promotion offered very misleading considering that's not what's advertised. Overall, while the doctor and clinical staff were pleasant, the confusing scheduling, poor communication, and inflexible payment policies made the entire experience frustrating and ultimately felt like a waste of time. He was very nervous as he had a root canal on this tooth previously, but there was a new infection to this tooth. He was also nervous about going into the office with the increase in COVID-19 cases. Gloria met my Grandpa and aunt (who brought him to appt) in the parking lot to ensure they found the handicapped entrance. He was very happy with the precautions taken for safety with COVID-19. He says the procedure was completely painless. We were very nervous about having Grandpa go in for a procedure, but I have seen Dr. Young myself, and she and her staff are simply the best. His first and foremost concern is getting you out of pain and proceeding with excellent dentistry, doing his highly skilled best to save your tooth. Dentists usually send their difficult cases to Dr. Pretorius, who can usually save the tooth. It sounds like "Candy" was blinded by the pain or, more likely, is a disgruntled employee who knows the numbers associated with the teeth and dental lingo.

That said, like all matters in my life I turned to the people I trust and respect in times of necessity. For the past two years I have been lucky enough to have DR. Katarina Pavlicic as a client of mine and felt comfortable seeking her advice as the pain mounted and the need for treatment became unavoidable. Surprisingly, on her vacation, she took my call and was kind enough to listen while I whined on and on. She gave me many suggestion and solutions on dealing with the pain with the bottom line being that I could see one of her recommended colleagues, or wait and see her in two days. I chose the latter and have been thrilled I did so. From the moment I arrived and was greeted by Rene at check- in, to the dental assistant Ellen's amazing way of being comforting and funny I was put much more at ease than I expected. I relaxed and put my trust in Katarina. Before I knew it, I was walking out the door. Because my mom lives nearby, I recommended this practice to her, so I was extremely disappointed to hear about her recent experience. From the moment she arrived, she was met with what she described as a very cold reception from the front desk. If you work in a healthcare setting, greeting patients with kindness and professionalism should be the bare minimum. Going to the dentist can already be an anxiety-inducing experience, and patients should feel welcomed and comfortable and not like they are an inconvenience. Unfortunately, her experience with Dr. Lin was no better. She felt that the bedside manner was lacking and that she was made uncomfortable during her visit. I understand that people come from different cultural backgrounds and may have different communication styles, but when you work in healthcare, you have a responsibility to make your patients feel respected, heard, and at ease. It took everything in me not to walk into the office after my mom told me about her experience. I recommended this practice based on my own positive experiences years ago, and I regret that my recommendation resulted in my mom having such a negative experience. Please do better. Patients have choices when it comes to their healthcare, and there are many other dental practices that understand the importance of treating patients with kindness, respect, and compassion. Especially elderly patience. Never forget that the way you treat people can determine whether they choose to return.
