Please don't be fooled by the number of 5 star reviews like I was. I was really excited to contact this office after seeing the Invisalign promotion and reading so many positive reviews, but unfortunately my experience did not match the expectations. When I first called, I was offered a virtual consultation the following day, which I completed thinking I would be able to schedule an in-office visit shortly after. However, I was told the next available appointment was about a month away. Although that was frustrating, I still scheduled it. Later, my sister received a follow-up text from the office about confirming an appointment. She also had reached out to inquire about Invisalign. But By that time they finally replied to her, she had already decided to move forward with another dental office, so she asked if I could take that available slot instead. The office replied saying that would be fine. However, when I was about five minutes away from the office, the receptionist, Hannah, called and said there had been some confusion and that I should keep my original appointment. That was extremely frustrating because I had already rearranged my schedule and was on my way. It didn't make sense that I was told I could come in if I ultimately couldn't be seen to conduct the appointment in its entirety. When I eventually had my appointment, the doctor and the back-of-house staff were very kind and professional. The visit itself was going well, and I told the doctor I wanted to move forward with Invisalign. I was then told it would take about four weeks for the trays to come in. I've had Invisalign before and know it often takes closer to two weeks, but I was still willing to proceed. The biggest issue came when discussing payment. I was given four payment options, and I asked if I could use my dental insurance and pay the remaining balance with my CareCredit card. I was told that wasn't possible. They mentioned they asked the doctor and apologized, but the answer remained no. I've never experienced a dental office being so restrictive about how a patient chooses to pay. It also makes the promotion offered very misleading considering that's not what's advertised. Overall, while the doctor and clinical staff were pleasant, the confusing scheduling, poor communication, and inflexible payment policies made the entire experience frustrating and ultimately felt like a waste of time. Unfortunately, I wouldn't recommend this office. read more

This is a very biased dentist I came across this dentist as I was looking for Invisalign they were advertising a discount for Invisalign so I thought I would reach out they schedule a video consultation immediately when the dentist saw me she immediately changed her demeanor when I showed her my teeth she said I need to see an orthodontist although I have been seen before for Invisalign and have never been told that I needed to remove any teeth that was her way of dismissing me due to my color this is a very prejudice dentist. read more

As someone with extreme dental anxiety, I had been struggling for years with finding a dentists since moving out of state. I originally came here for an Invisalign consultation and ended up booking my cleanings and fillings here. They made all my appointments back to back the same day so I can fit Invisalign and getting back on track with my oral health fit into my work schedule! I had Invisalign IPR, a cavity filling, and a cleaning all in one day and left with ZERO pain. The numbing went away within 2 hours and I was good to go at work! I never imagined I'd say this but I genuinely can't wait to go back and finish getting my oral health on track. I'm so lucky to have found this office so close to home! I started coming here last year during their renovations and was a pleasant surprise to witness the transformation on my 2nd visit. The office is clean and modern. The staffs are cheerful and knowledgeable. Dr. Nguyen did my initial exam. She was kind and not pushy with any dental works. On my next visit, Dr. Cheng recommended a filling which she did an amazing job. No pain during procedure and didn't need to return for a bite adjustment which was always the case in the past with previous dentists. Also took my wife to join me on office switch and she, too had a pleasant visit. We're both not a fan of dentist office in general but at least we won't dread our next visit read more

Oh I love them ! So lucky to find this place for my whole family. They are super nice and very professional! The real professional dentists not salesman! My 9 yrs old have filling done , and he said he feels nothing at all. I got mine done too and I don't feel any pain! They have so much patience with my two non stop talking kids and old cranky daddy. The office is super clean and fresh. Highly recommended to all friends and family! Ladies in the front desk are super nice, making appointment is very easy. Dr. Cheng and her team is really accommodating and always put their patients as their first priority. I had some overseas travel in November 2017 for 2 weeks, my jaw has suffered some problems during the trip. So I explained my situation to their administrator Mary on the phone who informed Dr. Cheng. Mary called me back the next day informing me that Dr. Cheng really wanted to make sure my jaw is ok and the team was able to squeeze me into their very busy schedule on Saturday the day after. My family has been going here for years. Dr. Haines recently sold the place to Dr. Cheng and he couldn't have picked a better successor. From the extremely hospitable receptionists/hygienists to the doctors, South Shore Smiles is the place to go for dentristry. I recently got a few fillings and I usually get super ~anxious~ in the dentist chair. However, Dr. Cheng explained everything and the procedure was completely painless (obviously). The doctors just have a way of easing patients' worries here and you can tell they really care. Plus side: they play some great music here. I recommend this place to anyone on the south Shore or even in the Boston area. It's a short cab ride around the rotary from the train station. read more

The dentist is usually one of the last people you want to visit but Dr. Cheng and her staff make the visit very comfortable and welcoming. Walking into the office, it feels like you're going into someone's home; the waiting area has a very comfortable couch! For years I had been debating whether or not to get my teeth whitened because I heard the teeth get sensitive when it's done but with several weddings to attend, I bit the bullet and decided to try it out and am so glad I did. My teeth were noticeably whiter and I got several compliments on them. The in office whitening procedure was relatively quick. I was able to listen to my music during the procedure so the time flew by. Jenny, the dental assistant walked me through each step and told me what to expect so there were no surprises. Everyone here is amazing. I had a dental emergency and was, of course, PANICKED. My dentist wasn't available and I was referred to Dr. Cheng by a friend and patient. It was also their short day, as they were all working on Saturday. Let me tell you, they made every effort to be sure that I was seen and treated ASAP - and I wasn't even a patient of theirs!!! From the compassionate front desk staff to the doctor herself, I was treated with such kindness and care. Dr. Cheng was able to correct my issue in MINUTES and painlessly!!!!!!! I visited this place based on the good review at the yelp. and I also think the Dr cheng is a very nice doctor. I have booked the root canal treatment three month ahead at the front desk, but my appointment was getting canceled for twice,the first time was canceled one week before my appointment without explanation. I rescheduled , but the second appointment was canceled again at the early morning of the appointment day. I was told the doctor got stomach ache . Dr. Cheng is the best! My husband and I have been seeing her for years and are so happy for her that she now has her own practice. She is always kind and professional, and knows how to listen to her patients. My husband has had multiple fillings done by her and is finally flossing and being preventative with his teeth. After a long time of going there, my old dentist started introducing new employees and equipment and it was confusing and the staff got ruder. My whole family had gone there so we all needed a new dentist and eventually we found Dr. Cheng and instantly I knew she was the one for us. She was nice, attentive, her staff are all excellent, she isn't aggressive and filling a cavity never hurts. She really goes above and beyond for each of her clients. After every visit, she makes a home call to confirm that everything went well and is alright. Also, she convinced me (with no pressure) to get Invisalign, and it was the best decision I have ever made. My teeth have never looked better thanks to her, and she really knows what each and every person who walks into her office needs and she will do everything in her power to make sure they get it. Hands down, Dr. Cheng is the best dentist I've ever had (and I've been to quite a few!) I even followed to her South Shore Smiles practice even though it's a longer drive because she is just that good. A few years ago Dr. Cheng did some crown work on one of my back teeth and it looks and feels so natural that I honestly forget that tooth is crowned; even the procedure itself was painless compared to previous crown work I've had done. Best of all, she is extremely patient and truly puts the care of her patients first.
